For jazz on keys there is nothing better than Hammond, especially B3. But there must be someone able to put this fantastic unreproducible instrument to life. And the one is Barbara nowadays.
Hey! Not enough kudos here, not enough appreciation and respect. This woman is far beyond killer, she is the mini-god of the B-3. Nobody quite close except for... you fill in the blank. The thought of seeing her at a house concert has me drooling.
INCREDIBLE musician!! ...and she KICKS the bass line better than a lot of bassists !! I don't understand why this video doesn't have 100,000 hits! Time to spread the word....
I had the pleasure of presenting Barbara in a concert at my house in Berkeley, California in 2007. A solo concert. I recorded with 3 video cameras and once I get it edited I might post it, if Barbara agrees. I heard her in San Diego on the world's largest outdoor pipe organ, then again in 2008 at Yoshi's jazz club in Oakland, CA. She is not only an amazing player, but also composer, and incredibly kind and thoughtful person. Anyone with a jazz club or church organ should have her come and play!
I was lucky enough to listen her being present at her concert - I have got lifetime impressions! She is outstanding talented person! Myself and everybody present on the concert were breathless listening to her wonderful and charming performance...
I have loads of clips of Barbara Dennerlein on my playlists everyone makes me shake my head at her levels of playing the organ, with her left hand she is playing like a pianoist right hand like organist incredible!! this lady has to be the best in the world
Can you imagine?? I can't. Having played keyboards for 50 years, it's literally hard for me to believe my eyes when I watch this video. Beyond description.
Man, that's got to be the ultimate on a B3! Not only is the number so funky but the skill to play it is inbelievable - never saw so many stop changes in one number! Wow.
We all do it. Barbara got the kickass intro from Lee Michaels, classic Stormy Monday Blues.
