Long live Buddy! I was a studio pianist and arranger in Lubbock when Joe hit the big time with his fabulous band in the late 70s. Any other other Lubbock musicians out there? I still sing this one, sang it to a 5th grade class in Italy yesterday. Buddy's music will always be around. B. Gammill
I just picked up on your post. I'm from the Hub and went to school with Joey. I'm currently working on a tribute album for Tommy Hancock. Joe has offered his studio and label. Now all I have to do is gather the musicians, which is like gathering marbles together on the bottom of a boat in rough water. All musicians share a common love for Tommy and have served time in Lubbock. Ray Bob
being from Lubbock Texas, we get to see Joey often...I went to high school with the drummer, Davis McLarty, He now has the McLarty Agency in Austin and sometimes plays with Terry Allen...yup, alota music comes out of Lubbock....seems like half the Austin music scene is from west Texas..
great video of the show. the only thing i didn't like was some of the tight shots of the musicians faces. especially the ones that move around when they play.
I give it a 5 out of 5. For a microphone from the speakers (that's what it is right?) and hand held from the crowd, good job. Good editing. Great song - great performance. It's really only about the music. I found this after seeing his performance of his new song "I want to slow you down" on CBS's Saturday show. Go to cbsnews dot com and look for it. From last saturday 12/1
I wonder if the Crickets realised in the studio they were creating an eternal masterpiece?

Thanks for stopping by B. I too play this one with classes, along with a little appropriate music history lesson.
