@disneyaguila I use pantene pro v. I find it lubricates my hair well to keep it from tangling or breaking. the other tip is not to wash it to much!

@Sampsoneh Well I'm 17 and have only been a Sikh for the past 4 years, I grew my hair for a year and it got to just past shoulder length, then cut it and since August it has got to about sitting just on my shoulders. Well it varies between Sikhs because Sikhs don't ever cut their hair, or at least shouldn't, I've seen 20 year olds who's hair is maybe halfway down their back, search "Kesh Guru ki Mohar :) Beautiful Scalp Hair" it's a video of a sikh man combing his hair and tying it up,Sikh style

Awsome hair, i am growing mine out too, am at about waist leangth. i recomend you go look at torrin's paige she has some great hair styles that also work for guys and that eats up some leangth. keep it up,

@Scorpion73659 not sure why this was flaged as spam, but doesnt seem to be. anyway you just have to be patient and say commited to your long hair goal thru the rotten "aquward stage" some to half pony tails or use boby pinns. I wouldnt slick it back with anything, the more you put in your hair the less healthy and harder it will be to grow. get a hat? lol

@futureistic1000 not sure why this is being flagged....but I just use pantine pro V or whatever they call themseves now. i've heard its not the best but I like the results i've seen. the "mosture" conditioners seem to lubricate my hair very well to keep it from breaking when I detangle it in the shower.

@RainBowGoLucky878 no bother at all, I wash and braid it (takes 10-20 min to wash and braid) then I leave it for atleast 3 sometimes 5 days. Easy cheesy!

completely normal! Your hair tends to flip up and down and random curls and waves pop out everywhere, that is because your hair does not have enough weight to weigh it down, the best solution is to not think about it much and tough it out hehe :) I remember i had a brutal time through the akward phase, but it lasts about maybe 6 months, my hair is down to my waist now and am loving it :) tough it out man, it will get so much better :)

My hair is just past collar length and toward the end of the awkward stage( my first time growing long as well) and my hair waves and curls at the bottom and it's hard to maintain. Is that normal during the awkward stage and could you give me some tips and advice for it. Thanks :)

I'm trying to grow my hair out long, and I've read about how good the natural scalp oils are for one's hair, but I haven't heard any consensus on how many days to go without washing it to let the oils do their magic. Is it just a matter of how comfortable you are with the oily hair look, and the more days without washing it the better?

@nicolethebean85 rockerforlife is correct, but i also only wash it once or twice a week. the longer you go without washing it, the longer you will be able to go with out it looking greesy. also the longer the hair, the more places for the oil to go.

@Sampsoneh Oh that's pretty cool - so the longer I go with the natural oils in my hair (that is, without shampooing), the less greasy my hair will look over time when I haven't washed it. Rock out. Yeah, once or twice a week is about my regular waiting time between shampooings. I'll just keep it up. :) Thanks!
