I love STEELHEAD too BUT ity's too bad the damage the smallmouth and other game fish. In Ohio the Rocky River used to be a SUPER smallmouth river and now NOTHING
I don't like the pack fishing either. However, if someone wants to take 3 steelhead home and that is under limit, who cares? They are stocked fish. Someone filling their freezer with fish- what is wrong with that. Be more upset with the a-holes that gut a fish for the eggs and toss it aside to rot.
do you even realize that theres one million steelhead stocked every year? they should raise the limit or lower the stocking so the steelhead because atleast somewhat of a challenge to catch and so when you catch them you dont have to take 10 thousand pounds of jewlery off of them
There's a fine example of why I stay away from the well known tributaries and limit my fishing time to the winter months. Putting on my waders and heading out with the hordes to the local choke point to set up a gauntlet of lead, mono and steel for the fish to try and navigate....Naahhhh, just doesn't appeal to me.
i love the fishing in packs thing.............i bet they would keep less fish if there weren't so many of thier peers around to have pissing contests with......
Just got back from a great Steelhead fishing trip to lake Erie in North East, PA. Were biting like mad on 16 Mile Creek (where we limited out the second day), 12 Mile, & 20 Mile. One guy got a citation for an 11 pounder caught at 20 Mile. Biting on peach/light pink sucker spawn and darker colored wooly buggers.
man i go fihing here too. wow. nice. first time i went out there i caught a 16 in steelhead.but a lot of people go there and sometimes it is hard to find room to fish unless u go up river like i do.

All the people from pittsburg always take their fish home. release the fish. There is no need to take 3 fish home, 1 would do just fine.

I flyfish and practice catch and release myself. I just filmed others, though I have no problem with others that keep them if they eat them.

I like em smoked. Make them into a pate and spread for crackers too. Usually 3 or 4 keepers per season, catch and release the rest.
