I've seen & heard countless numbers of celebrated axe men. Govan, Petrucci, Satriani, Friedman, etc....sorry folks, none of them, although all immensely talented, could have carried Shawn's shoes. As is the case with many of the aforementioned, too much contrivance. Shawn simply played on a different level that we're all still trying to understand.
Shawn was such a monster, he must have, despite his warm gentle nature, intimidated the s**t out of so many other players, much like the way Steve Morse still does today. I mean how do you get done watching that and even want to pick up your axe. Sure he may have inspired some, but, and I laugh, must have discouraged so many. Man I miss him so much. Thanks for all these vids MyShawnLaneVideos, ur the best.
Have to say that Ray Gomez does not get his props ...he is a huge influence on fusion shred ...just like Albert King is Jimi and Stevie's 'daddy' Ray is the originator...
having said that ... there is no way to discount Shawn Lane ...he was literally unbelieveable!!!!!!
Will be no other player like Lane in the history of guitar playing. R.I.P. Mr. Lane. <3

This is Ray Gomez who invented this music, but who played it first, Lane or Satriani ?
SweeetPicker 1 year ago
@SweeetPicker I didn't know Satriani had ever played this piece??

@MyShawnLaneVideos Well, i think the song "satch boogie" is very similar, he had to be inspired (excuse my english again)

@SweeetPicker Other than the fact that they both have "Boogie" in their names, I can't see or hear any other similarity between the two songs.

@SweeetPicker Here:
Ray Gomez: The original
Shawn Lane: Very close to the original
Satch: Called it Satch boogie changed alot
Impellitteri: Called it Texas Nuclear Boogie very different but unknown
