And i know auto-tune is pitch shifting but artists back in the day would double track vocals add the pitch shift & the echo to the double tracked vocals for 2 reasons 1 the artist did not record with or use backing singers or 2 trouble blending the artists vocals & matching the harmony with the backing vocalist's..back in the day pitch shifting was used as a tool..AUTO-TUNE IS USED AS A CRUTCH that alot of would be singers can't live without

Juice Newtons version is the best by far & part of this goal was reached by double tracking her vocals for the chorus & laying it over her vocal adding pitch shift with a touch of echo..This one by J.N is still my favorite cover hands down...it may have pitch shift & echo but it beats the hell out of auto-tune anyday

In my opinion, this clip is on a par with Crystal Gayles 'Don't it make my brown eyes blue'. I have seen her studio clip of 'brown eyes' only ONCE, on some retro show.

I cannot find this studio clip of Crystal Gayle, sat upon a studio stool, singing 'Don't it make my brown eyes blue', it is very emotional.

Supposedly, Crystal came in, sat down, and sang, one take.

Not just a hit.

It could arguably be her signature song.

The love of my life is one room down from where I sit, she is sleeping beautifully, the floor to ceiling window/sliding glass door, as she sleeps, gives us a rather nice view of our back garden when we wake ,it looks south, so the early morning light is generally soft, but the birds can be a bit strident at times!.
