Remember when the paparazzi followed princess Diana, & see what what sadly happened that night, well Randy Schmidt is doing the same thing to Karen Carpenter, except Karen's no longer with us,so fans get to endure all this crap.
There was a Little Girl in walmart who look up at me & pointed to a Carpenters CD that I was holding, as I alway like to put the Carpenters CD's on top with today's music (if you want to call it that) that they sell. She was with her Mom, & the Little Girl said to me that "Mommy is taking me to see that group" I smiled trying to hold back alot of sadness, & said to the Little Girl that they put on the greatest concerts you would ever want to see, but the concert is in Heaven now.
All of you people who are so good at trying to bash Richard Carpenter just proves what assholes & lowlifes that you are. Shit to me it's very entertaining because I know Richard is actually the opposite of what alot of you enjoy writing about. Believe nothing of what you hear & only half of what you see. RC never controled Karen & KC had all of the freedom that she wanted. Richard was just very into his work & wanted it to sound great. RC' mistakes too much touring, sleeping pill addition.

I don't know of Ms. Newton ever relased a version of this or not, but I like what the Carpenters did with it. It's a fun song to sing along with. I am glad they would do country songs every once in a while.

She also looks better when she isn't wearing that lipstick of the exact same color as her regular skin. It made her lips disappear. Horrible 70's makeup. And don't get me started on 70's hair. It looks so much livlier & pretty in this clip.
Karen radiates beauty in this one. She looks so incredibly full of life when she's playing her drums, which only ends up making me wish she had played them more.^^ It warms my heart to see her happy like this.

I did a tap dance to this song in 1978 at the Miss NC pageant.. It is great to hear it again.. I had the #45 record... Karyn was a beautiful person inside and out.. and so talented.. Thank you... she lives on through her songs
Oh, I miss them so much. It was a pity that Karen died so young and look at their sweet smile and joliness in their performance and remember they have brought this world so much beautiful music and many good memories, including Mr. Postman, top of the world, close to you, and of course this special Jitruba oldy which I had heard one month ago that made me so anxious in viewing this video. Again miss them and love them, they reminded me a lot of my younger days.

The Carpenters, like many other great artists, also did cover songs written by others e.g "Please Mr. Postman" written by Dobbin/Garrett/Garman/Biranbert which was the 1961 debut single by The Marvelettes. Carpenters also covered The Beatles song "Ticket to Ride". Both Lena Zavaroni and Karen Carpenter were two great performers with brilliant voices who covered other peoples songs. And that does not make them less talented. Neither Lena nor Karen ever karked a song ;)
I love this song, great voice. I love how she sings "I gotta know that you love me (...) and I gotta feel on the run", she sings it the "hard way", but her voice it's still soft. Its awesome how she does such things. This song should be twice that long!

I did a tap dance to this song in 1978 at the Miss NC pageant.. It is great to hear it again.. I had the #45 record... Karyn was a beautiful person inside and out.. and so talented.. Thank you... she lives on through her songs

Oh, I miss them so much. It was a pity that Karen died so young and look at their sweet smile and joliness in their performance and remember they have brought this world so much beautiful music and many good memories, including Mr. Postman, top of the world, close to you, and of course this special Jitruba oldy which I had heard one month ago that made me so anxious in viewing this video. Again miss them and love them, they reminded me a lot of my younger days.

Warning? The Carpenters, like many other great artists, also did cover songs written by others e.g "Please Mr. Postman" written by Dobbin/Garrett/Garman/Biranbert which was the 1961 debut single by The Marvelettes. Carpenters also covered The Beatles song "Ticket to Ride". Both Lena Zavaroni and Karen Carpenter were two great performers with brilliant voices who covered other peoples songs. And that does not make them less talented. Neither Lena nor Karen ever karked a song ;)

I love this song, great voice. I love how she sings "I gotta know that you love me (...) and I gotta feel on the run", she sings it the "hard way", but her voice it's still soft. Its awesome how she does such things. This song should be twice that long!

Thanks for posting this. Karen had a beautiful voice but because she suffered from low self esteem didnt realise it. John Lennon once complimented her on her voice and she thought he was winding her up! Very sadly missed

I should expect no less from a Zeppelin fan: you know quality when you see it. Ironic note: did you know that in the seventies, Playboy magazine readers voted Karen as a better drummer than Bonham. Karen had the most beautiful voice ever recorded, but better on drums than Bonzo? That's almost sacreligious to even say it.

This video captures a rare glimpse of Richard and Karen holding hands. Now according to the Karen Carpenter story, it was indirectly understood that well some levels of compassion was not in their family. Agnus Carpenter (Louise Fletcher) "You show a person you love them, you don't tell them all the time." Maybe that is what helped with the image problem Karen faced in her life. One my never know. Like how many licks does it take to get to the tootsie roll center of a tootsie pop?
