  • Amazing. Man what a beautiful arrangement thanks for sharing with us!

  • amazing, man. keep up playing like this!!!

  • It is great to see your thoughtful interpretations of various prog pieces using the Stick. I'll bet that Greg Lake or Mike Rutherford wished they had invented these instruments earlier, giving a chance for bassist/guitarists to express themselves more completely without having to carry a 70 pound monster.

  • ♠TuLL icious!

  • WoW!!!

I'll bet you've met some Tull fans!!!

    Seriously love your work.Tasty Tunage...

  • lovely simple version of an old classic...thank you for your new take on it.

  • ULTRASOUND AWESOME EXELLENT

  • very nice.

  • AWESOME!!!

  • That's what God invented strings for.

  • What is the deal with these chapman sticks? They're so amazing! Oh, the things you could think on these.

    Great tapping, my friend.

  • Rob...your playing is simply...breathtaking. Beautiful, almost sensual. Thanks for your awesome talent.

  • Mate give Ian Anderson a call ... and I am sure you will get into the band quick smark.... Very good.. Thank you...(ps) It is probably my favourite Tull song ...Cheers

  • What a marvelous instrument.

Also, I see you have some Dali on your wall?

  • Yup, sure do. :-)

  • @rpmartino hehe I had a Kandinsky behind me in my studio

  • thats so ill

  • right hand is bass and left hand is guitar right?

can u separate the different neck in terms of sound? like if i wanted the guitar 2 be distorted and the bass 2 be clean?

  • Yup, bass and melody have different pickups and can be processed separately.

  • Boy, I'd love to hear a stick version of "Dun Ringhill" (sic?).

  • Heard a chapman stick played live once - incredible instrument !!!

  • ye and really expansive to!! for the money its costs, its better sound good!

  • I'd love to hear my god played on a stick... i love Jethro Tull so much...

  • awesome playing!

is that a Dali in the background?

  • It's a reprint of a Dali.

  • i have the same dali in my music room, good choice

  • nice sound. I see others trying to do the metal stuff on the stick but I like this much better. Am I old???

  • Well, so what if you are? :)

  • oh yeah!

  • Wow! Beautiful sound. The Tull pieces just sound amazing on this instrument with your excellent arrangements. I want one of these beasts!

  • What instrument is that?

sounds like a bass guitar, but...

    anyways, let me know aight?

    Thanks

  • Its called a Chapman Stick. Has both guitar and bass guitar strings on it.

  • ahhh, ic ic, too bad i've never heard of it, cause it sounds great!!

  • My very first concert and favorite band was Jethro Tull, I am a club musician now and play a good number of instruments, but this is the most ear pleasing sound, no better arrangement is possible, by the way Wondern Aloud is my favorite song of all time, Great taste and fantastic performance.

  • Could you play Wind Up and then post it here?

  • the both thumb fingers is behind the neck?

  • yup, usually... well the right hand thumb is usually on the side of the fretboard (there is a bevel there) sometimes I use the right hand thumb to play a couple bass strings.

  • I really like how quality the sound is that you stick on Youtube. Whatever's processing it is keeping everything super hi-fi and makes such a nice performance even more enjoyable to listen to. Thanks for putting it up.

  • WOW! Terrific stuff!

  • Please keep these coming. Excellent work.

  • again excellent , even if it is short :)

by teh way i like the look of your setup behind you , im still in the process of geting my room into a home studio lol :]

  • Thank you for recording high-quality music

  • all your tull-performances are favourited. These are one of the best music-clips on youtube.never heard bout these instrument-thank you very much, and please, play some more

  • This actually reminds me of how Tull would perform the song today if they performed it with the whole band! Sounds great.

  • wow...... just wow.

    that is so amazing

  • Rob if for any reason at all You would ever need a drummer, I would gladly accompany your music. that is a promise.

  • I think we can describe your videos with three words: YOU. HAVE. CLASS.

  • With so much narcissistic stuff posted on You-Tube, it's really nice to see a display of genuine talent and tasteful performances. Your collection of videos is a "must see" for anyone wanting to know about the Chapman Stick. Bravo!

  • AAAHHHH...a long-awaited addition to my Rob Martino Chapman Stick subscription!!! YEAA!!!! And, as usual, this is simply marvelous! Way to go, Rob! Can't wait for your next installment. LC

  • Horray!

  • I have never been musically inclined, but I tell ya...you make me want one of these things VERY badly so I can learn. Just how much time have you invested in the Chapman Stick? Did you have a previous guitar background? Would skill with a keyboard of piano be of any assistance to learning this instrument? Is there a good place to pick up a nice beginner Chapman Stick at a fair price? Sorry for the flood of questions.

  • Thanks... I did have some experience with guitar and piano before playing Stick which helps to some degree, but on the other hand it's still like starting from scratch on a new instrument. Any kind of music knowledge (music theory, knowing other instruments) helps as long as long as you don't get stuck in a rut forcing technique habits from other instruments... there are useful techniques to learn which unique to the Stick I think.

  • rpmartino is right. But hey.. if you've never been musically inclined forget about the stick. Forget about playing anything. Mark my words. (even more for the stick, man, that instrument is complicated)

  • I think the most difficult part for me with my lack of experience was the fact that I just have poor coordination between my two hands. If I could fix that, I think I could play a lot of instruments. I know I am nowhere near ready to play as Rob is, but after seeing and hearing his music, it makes me really want to dedicate more time to it than I ever would to an instrument before.

  • That is incredible m8.
