its incredible how he sees the glory! and all those people around him are judging the MIGHT of his love of god! do you guys see that? or is it just me? cause when you're one, the institutional gargoyles judge.
I didn't believe in God or Jesus until I witnessed this man on his harmonica. It is then I knew he could only achieve his skills on the instrument if Jesus actually lived inside of his soul thus permitting him the ability to lay down the harmonic thunder on his harmonica.
it is so sad tat he had to pass away because he had true talent and he had the best songs and i wish hhe hadnt passed away REST IN PEACE TERRY MCMILLAN
The best harmonica player ever, he must be playing in the heaven with sonny boy to his left and Little Walter to his Right, and God looking and smiling!
Psalm 8:1-2; "O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens. From the lips of children and infants
you have ordained praise because of your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger. Rom.2:9-10 "There will be trouble and distress for every human being who does evil...glory, honor and peace for everyone who does good:"
He starts off with a different tune that was popular in the 60s then moves into Woody Guthries "This train" So what was the name of the other tune folkies?
Awesome performance!!! One of the best harp players EVER!!! Smooth playing, almost as if the man and harp were one. Does anybody out there know for any more footage of Terry playing his harp? If anybody's got any get it posted!!!!!
Adam Crabb doesn't come close to Terry M. and he would be the first to tell you that. I've talked to Adam a few times and he'll tell you himself that he is light years away from being as good as Terry was. Buddy Greene has some skills though
i am a begging harmonica player and what sparked me to play was this man, my father knew him from his hometown and was actually at a friends house when terry came with his belt of 3 harmonica's while my dad play guitar terry ripped the harp and he showed me this and made me decide to start playin he is awesome on of the greats
I have watched thousands of harmonica performances. This is , in my opinion, the best I have ever seen. It doesn't matter that this is a "religious" performance & that I am an atheist. Perfection on the melodic chugging.
Terry was the real thing. Touched by God's hand, his music shows the blessings bestowed upon him. A brilliant talent. My eyes are filled with tears as I write this fond farewell. Terry... you were the best. The BEST ever!
Prooves how great a person Chet Atkins was for signing him up and using him on almost all his records. I believe Jerry Reed had a lot to do with it too. Terry had music in all his body.
His work with Larry Carlton from the "Renegade Gentlemen" Album is amazing. Pairing those two greats was a rare and wonderful combination. Special attention to the song " Cold Day in Hell " is one of the heaviest blues/southern rock songs I have ever heard. Find it...Buy it...Love it! Praise God friends.
It has been a long time since anyone has come along that could play like that.... I'd gone to church to see him play but consider myself lucky to remember seeing him play on T.V. What a stylist he was.
One of the best and most powerful performances I've ever witnessed in my 32 years! I believe that tune is also "My Babe", a Little Walter R&B record from the early '50's. Incredible.
He played upside down because he was left-handed, however, he started out with the harp upside down by accident, then flipped it over - good recovery. He was my all-time favorite. This is a pretty good performance, but doesn't do him justice. If you ever saw him on the old Nashville Network channel, you'd agree. He was awesome. His playing didn't have the usual wah-wah sound that harp players have - it was a much more warm, mellow tone - very unique.
Can't tell you when/where it was recorded, but it was one of Bill Gaither's "Homecoming" series recordings. The audience is filled with the legends of Southern Gospel music. I saw Jake Hess, Hovie Lister, Howard Goodman, George Younce, Larnell Harris, some of the Speers, and I think J.S. Sumner is in there.
Ace harmonica player and percussionist Terry Lee McMillan died Friday (Feb. 2) at his home in Pigeon Forge, Tenn., following a long illness. He was 53. A spokesman for the funeral home handling the services said the family has declined to specify the exact cause of death.
This is a good clip, but doesn't do Terry justice. If you ever saw some of his performances on The Nashville Network (TNN), then you'll know what I mean. Since his death, there has certainly been a void in Country & Gospel music. Some have tried & even come close to sounding like Terry McMillan, including myself, but there will never be another player like Terry. He changed the way people in the music industry think of harmonica, forever. His tone is unmatched to this day. He was my idol.
Omg I can't believe he just died last year and I've never been aware of his existence until today... What a blessing he was. Amazing... both, harmonica and voice... O.o
You must hear Terry's song "A Man After God's Own Heart" on his CD "Somebody's Comin'." That song is literally the story of Terry's life and you'll really know what he meant when he began his Testimony on this video. Terry was and forever will be the BEST Harmonica player in the world. His talent came from within deep down in his Soul and Spirit! There'll never be another Terry. we miss him daily. I wish you all could have know him personally; he was Spiritual, hilarious and a joy to know.
Terry i can see you now..... playing your harp to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Thank You for the wonderful memories. And God bless everyone who help this brother stand tall and proud for JESUS. I got my ticket, I'll see you in heaven soon Terry!!!
Terry ws a good friend of mine and he taught me everything I know. There is the best harp player out there he was a great guy. He is in Heaven right now praising God and Jesus doing what he does best.
I was watching Johnny Cash videos and went to a Chet Akins video of Orange Blossom Special were I'm sure it was Terry playing with Chet. I putin Terry's name to find him on YouTube, too. What a wonderful video... I can't believe he's gone home. I saw Terry so many times on TBN. I'm sure he's in heaven still playing and praising the Lord even now....
Terry Mcmillan died on feb 2 2007 from complications due to pnemonia, his death was in no way due to any abuse of drugs, He detested drugs, his birth father was a drug and alcohol abuser ( along with his mother). Terry's step-father ( whom he called his dad) attended his funeral.
This video looks like its from a Gaithers Homecoming video...Terry was seeking the lord.....is the most important thing......He was a great witness to God's mercy......even through hard times.......
i was moved by the life this man lead,,id never heard of him b4 ,,good harp player,,,can anyone tell me what he died from,,i just read his life story but none tell how his demise came,,anyone help with that??? Pete
Terry was a great guy with a lot of personal charisma in addition to being extremely talented. But he led a troubled life and apparently had a drug problem toward the end. He died suddenly just a few days after coming home from a stint in rehab. At first the family declined to state a cause of death to the media but later said that he died from a heart attack. Interestingly, Terry's father attended the funeral.
Fascinating fact about Terry. He played the harmonica backwards (or upside down, however you want to say it) In other words, he plays with hole 10 to the left. Any harp player can watch him play and see that. I'd heard that a long time ago and these videos confirm it.
Terry Mcmillan in the best...His style and talent is unmatched and unsurpassed! Some people think that standing on a stage screaming slang and cuss words while sporting the baggy pants, gold chains, and tatoos somehow shows talent....This guy proves that there is talent left in the world..
powerful testimony from the brother..God is good..all the time God is good, I pray that thru this testimony, that the veil is taken from the minds that hear the testimony, and each will accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour...amen...
