Listen I will say it once playing scales in any genre or style does not make one a great guitarist.Writing a tune that is played 30-40 years later on the radio or a song that or lick that is copied over and over again such as aint talking about love or a led zep tune or lick is what makes you a great guitarist.I teach kids way more talented but do I call them great no, I call them students and until they learn the value of what playing is all about thats all they will be.

I got to share the stage with this young lady last July up here in Canada. We did "Rock and Roll" and I had a blast!! She is mega talented and conducts herself with great class and humility....AND THAT SMILE.
I was one of Ted's biggest fans as a kid. Our band played several of his songs and he was pretty much a hero to me. I saw him in Columbia, Mo. some 10? years ago and all he would do is talk politics while on stage. I felt so cheated that I lost respect for him and don't care any more.
