"For the people who want more in Life." Worst tagline for a sports car ad. It belongs in a Lincoln ad. I would've edited out the dog, man, and house. The ad would just have various shots around the car as it moved down the highway. The only sound would be the exhaust note. No announcer at all. That would've sold more cars and an old man and his dog.
1987-88 85MPH speedo , 1989 saw the 140speedo plus MAF (88 in CA) 19990-93 Airbags, 1991-93 16 inch Pony's. What I never understood is the SVO's had 4 wheel disk but the 87-93 were all rear drum??
I ordered my first LX in 87, brand new hotrod for $11,080, still haven't been able to replace it 9 5.0's later. 87-88 had the Speed Density computers, whick made the little seats more tolerable, since bone stock they beat up on the newer Mass Air cars, which also came with a smaller cam. They'll never make anything like it again, $40K for a new one, rediculous. Lee Iacocca wanted it cheap so everyone could have one. Now every Dr and lawyer are the only ones with that sort of cash for a toy car.
@idotroger88 I agree I had a 1992 Unmarked Police Mustang 160 on the Dash 1991 LX Sedan Five O and a 1992 LX 5 Liter Hatchback I had Work Done to Everyone rather it Be Engine ,Trans ,Gears or Exhaust Mods and All were MASS AIR Cars and Alot of FUN My Favorite Mustangs but My Dads BONE STOCK 1987 speed density 10,500 Dollar Five 0 would Spank a few of My Moded Mustangs even after getting 200 Thousand Miles on it and would hang in there with the 1992 that had New Heads Cam an Gears LOL
A few things of interest in making of this commercial.
1. The house (false front) was built in a day and was also used to film a whiskey commercial that aired (only) in Great Britain.
2. Ford delivered four Mustangs; red, yellow and two black. The first black GT was totaled by a stunt driver showing off who was fired on the spot and replaced the next day.
3. The road was an access road that ran parallel to I-70 in eastern Colorado about 15 miles from the Kansas / Colorado state line.
I think the fox body's look good. Go look at a plain LX 5.0 sedan with the Pony wheels from 92/93. Those made that body style look good. I think the fox body's look better than the 94/98.
i use to have so much fun side stepen the cluth in my 88 and walking it sideways down the street iremember walken it sidways once when that tootsie roll song came out and my freind was like what the hell were you doing your headlights shot to the left and right then went straight up i said my car was doing the tootsie roll. lol wish i woulde have kept it
Great commercial! This is the very one that got me to fall in love and purchase my first brand new car: a 1989 Mustang GT, black with red stripes. I don't remember them playing the commercial much (I really only saw it 2 or 3 times total). I wondered if they pulled it because of the full-throttle sound on a public road or something. Thanks for posting it.
yeah.. great cars.. i have an 88 GT convertible as well.. mine is stock for now and really pulls with the aod.. 51k original miles.. drive it to work every day.. bulletproof and gets 25mpg on the highway with the 5.0
Wow..51K is really low mileage..mine is a few hundred from 100K, which I figured was low mileage! I have no complaints about the car..have had it for I guess 11 years! :)Jack

I really don't see how this look like a Sierra.. maybe the Sierra headlights resemble the mid '80s SVO headlights.. but that's about it.
...maybe in a distorted kinda way they look alike.
