Granted they are paid very little and need to work to afford food but as we're seeing now in China, their economy is growing, as is the middle class. This is how countries evolve economically. Granted they are paid very little and need to work to afford food but as we're seeing now in China, their economy is growing, as is the middle class. This is how countries evolve economically. This is why you see child labor disappear as a country's economy grows: because the child no longer NEED to work to keep the family fed.

USA has always had this sentiment when a country threatens our status. Heres a history lesson; western Germany in the 70's almost surpassed USA economy, everyone got the same fear media but then they stagnated, eventually when germany united they didnt keep strong growth.
During the late 80's Japans economy almost surpassed USA, their nominal gdp came the closest to surpassing USA, even closer then China now, the same fear media was made BUT their economy stagnated.

After the nuclear war is over, America's population will be maybe 40 million, while China's population will still be around 500 million. It's not entirely the government's fault our jobs have gone overseas. As citizens, we still aren't willing to pay more than a slave's labor for our products. If US-produced phones, cars, clothes cost double, most would stick with foreign discounts. We have minimum wage and benefits here. Moral, but it will always put us at a competitive disadvantage against countries allowing slavery. Lastly, as immigrants know well, a large portion of us are just too lazy or entitled to work production jobs.
