Putting money into those cars is a completely different issue. I'm just talking about putting money into a Civic so it can run against cars in the "next class" (the ones I mentioned above). There's about a $10k difference between the two and the latter runs 0-60 in about 4.5 seconds. So assume that a turbo kit costs about $4k and gains you about 60 hp. You're still 40 hp short of 300 and will more than likely have to replace the transmission within a few years.
So now you've sunk $5K into a car that's no faster than the aforementioned and will have to spend more to get more power. I drive an 08 Civic SI and absolutely love the car but again, lets be realistic here...its a good, reliable daily driver thats on a platform thats meant to handle no more than 220 hp without having your wheels spinning furiously. Just my opinion.
@jberlo09 I'd really love to see that....... seeing as how the typical greddy kit on an otherwise stock Si put out about 240-250hp to the wheels with good tune and a 2dr Si weighs about 2800lbs..... where as a stock RX8 makes MAYBE 180hp to the wheels and weights about 3000lbs.... I dont see where your math puts an 8 in front of a turbo Si.

But the AJP Turbo kit cost the same as the GReddy kit and right off the bat you're STARTING with over 350hp and even close to 500hp with the right mods and more boost on a stock motor.

With the AJP turbo you're bolting on a turbo to a car that's not meant to handle all that power (the fact that it is FWD makes this obvious). Then say you rebuild the K20 to handle the boost, and it's time to sell the car! No one's gonna buy it. Selling an STi however, with bolt ons or a simple reflash is easier. Plus, it will be an easier car to drive daily. Just IMO.
@16secRicer It's not practical to have 420whp on a FWD car unless all you do is drag race. That torque steer is gonna be annoying as hell. I'd take an AWD car over a Civic any day, it's going to serve me well in the snow and it will be glued to the road at all times. I would also see the difficulties in selling a car with an aftermarket turbo - no one's going to buy it.

dude, don't hold on to your shifter with that death grip while driving, the shifter moves around quite a bit and you are preventing that movement putting stress back onto the linkage and transmission.

@cletedawgthewalmart Yes I did, but I spent a lot of money on custom parts, and I'm not counting the money I made back by selling the parts that I didn't use once I upgraded to other things. On top of the Greddy kit I did a 3" custom intake, downpipe, relocated battery, 1000cc injectors, went through 3 different boost controllers, i got 2 gauges, 3 sets of spark plugs, 3" exhaust...the list is pretty extensive

Anyone who puts a greddy kit on their shit clearly has no idea what it means to take a honda and make it worth a fuck. After reading through these comments I almost shit my pants. you have a great start now scrap that wack ass turbo and those 1000cc injecters are mass overkill. find a real tuner and get it done guy. Get some ARP head studs to that will help tons. also I would look into an E85 tune pending on location and availibility to you. the Z3 can pump out 400whp easy and safely all day.
@2ndgenboost if the 1000cc are major overkill, why are my IDC at 75% by redline? why scrap the turbo if it's still good, it's a waste of money. Once the turbo goes, then I'll upgrade to a GT30. I have a good tuner and the car drives amazingly well. I know how much power the Z3 can make, but E85 tune and ARP head studs are a waste of money. When I bought the Greddy kit, there weren't any other options besides TSI, so I think I didn't do too bad getting 315whp out of a Greddy Kit with a T517z

The K20 is PERFECTLY fine the way it is bone stock. Ask Jeff Evans how he gets 500+WHP out of bone stock K20s in Sis. Oh wait, you'll probably tell me he isn't a real tuner either. E85 on a Greddy turbo isn't going to help when the turbo is maxed out, it will merely help my exherting the air faster back into the turbo.
You can now tune with FlashPro, which reflashes the ECU through the OBDII port. It's similar to K-Pro as far as features and display, but instead of physically modifying the ECU, you reflash the ECU via the OBDII port.
At this moment, I'm making 315whp and 274tq with the Greddy turbo & manifold, Full-Race exhaust, Bosch 1000cc injectors, custom downpipe, intercooler and piping.

@cletedawgthewalmart Yes I did, but I spent a lot of money on custom parts, and I'm not counting the money I made back by selling the parts that I didn't use once I upgraded to other things. On top of the Greddy kit I did a 3" custom intake, downpipe, relocated battery, 1000cc injectors, went through 3 different boost controllers, i got 2 gauges, 3 sets of spark plugs, 3" exhaust...the list is pretty extensive

Anyone who puts a greddy kit on their shit clearly has no idea what it means to take a honda and make it worth a fuck. After reading through these comments I almost shit my pants. you have a great start now scrap that wack ass turbo and those 1000cc injecters are mass overkill. find a real tuner and get it done guy. Get some ARP head studs to that will help tons. also I would look into an E85 tune pending on location and availibility to you. the Z3 can pump out 400whp easy and safely all day.

@2ndgenboost if the 1000cc are major overkill, why are my IDC at 75% by redline? why scrap the turbo if it's still good, it's a waste of money. Once the turbo goes, then I'll upgrade to a GT30. I have a good tuner and the car drives amazingly well. I know how much power the Z3 can make, but E85 tune and ARP head studs are a waste of money. When I bought the Greddy kit, there weren't any other options besides TSI, so I think I didn't do too bad getting 315whp out of a Greddy Kit with a T517z

Your seriously an idiot. Overkill? Injectors can never be overkill. Especially when your turboing as everyone knows that upgrades always happen. APR head studs? The K20 is PERFECTLY fine the way it is bone stock. Ask Jeff Evans how he gets 500+WHP out of bone stock K20s in Sis. Oh wait, you'll probably tell me he isn't a real tuner either. E85 on a Greddy turbo isn't going to help when the turbo is maxed out, it will merely help my exherting the air faster back into the turbo.

You can now tune with FlashPro, which reflashes the ECU through the OBDII port. It's similar to K-Pro as far as features and display, but instead of physically modifying the ECU, you reflash the ECU via the OBDII port.
At this moment, I'm making 315whp and 274tq with the Greddy turbo & manifold, Full-Race exhaust, Bosch 1000cc injectors, custom downpipe, intercooler and piping.
