Frankster81 got remarried to an animal lover & all 316 ducks now live with em in the master bedroom. Frankster81 & his new wife had to suck it up & take the guest bedroom.

@dandkfun - Yes, the ducks around here are pretty familiar with people. I have noticed that bread is to a duck what candy is to a child (or an adult, like me). It's not good for them (at least not the yeast) but it tastes good. A little here and there won't hurt them.

@TMWTSB - I just indicated to them that I had food for them. They know that I feed them and I gave out a particular whistle to initially get their attention. Then I walked backwards at a quick clip with the food container in my left arm as I led them to one of their favorite eating areas. That's basically it.

There are about 60 ducks altogether. I'm currently not looking at the description I left with this video but not all 60 were in this video. I'm not counting it right now but most of them did show up at the time sooner or later (probably later). I mentioned 60 to someone at some point because there were in fact that many that would group together even if they're not all in this video. I wasn't trying to be misleading. Perhaps my grammar was poor. I need to go back and see the original text.

@origin8 - cracked corn and a lot of various other small seeds I don't recognize. I pick it up at a local pet store in a bag labeled "Goose and Duck Feed" although I never feed the geese (only because they are horribly messy and we have way too many of them here in Seattle - besides, I used to work with ducks, not geese. Sorry for the late reply...I had technical problems with YouTube).

@Cubroncs03 - You get to know the ducks you work with (or play with) well and you learn to anticipate what they will do under certain circumstances. I knew these ducks recgonized me as a sorce of food they like a lot (not bread - the yeast isn't good for them - but rather seed meant for ducks...ask a local pet food store) and how anxious they would be to see me early in the morning and I took advantage of that. I just walked backwards at a good clip with the container of food in my left arm.

@Zabuza123456789 - No. those are all wild mallard ducks that I used to work with (I used to study animal behavior). Now they're just my little friends. There were about 60 of them at that time but I don't think there are more than 50 now. I haven't counted them lately but I'm suspicious there are fewer. No, they don't belong to me but they have the expectation of me taking care of them and being their shepard...which I am.

@Frankster81 :) And here's a little Factette for you... did you know the Spanish have no ONE word for waddle... so they say "Andamo al pato"... which literally means "Walk like a duck"

I have known numerous people of Spanish origin and they often tell me (whose native language is English) that the English language has so many words including ones for which there is no exact translation (such as "waddle"). I'm not even sure how we came up with that word. It's not one of those you can breakk down into sections to help figure out its origin. But thanks for the insight. Mucho gracias!

@SethHesio - Thanks! While "waddle" might be a more concise way of saying how the ducks walk, "Walk like a duck" is far more likely to be understood by more people and through more languages. It gets to the point. But "waddle" is ok with me!
