is this viewed as the "best" neighbourhood in taipei? i heard a lot of celebs live here.......and there's a lot of international schools located in this area, which is what causes the views of "gold-haired" people??
I was also a TAS student (89-91) & loved eating @ Swenson's. Also going to Yac's Grocery Store, & TCBY! If you'd gone farther up Chung Shan N., past the bus circle (if it's still there) & turned left, then followed it around to the left (lane 219) you'd see the apt building I lived in back then. If it still exists - I heard an earthquake about 10 yrs ago turned my brothers bedroom into the "new" swimming pool. (lived on the top floor, just beneath the pool). Thanks for the memories.
Beverly Hills? The Beverly Hills of Taipei, if such a comparison can be made, regarding luxury dwellings is surely Wellington Heights.
What makes Tienmu different from other areas in Taipei is that it has always been connected in some way with foreigners. First the Japanese, then the American military and finally the international business community and their families.
Part of my family lives in Tien-Mu and very close to TAS. Never thought of it as a high rent/up-scale place before. O.o I've also been down south where my Mom's side of the family lives and that place, depending on where you go, looks pretty good. But yeah, I've been to other places in Taiwan where it doesn't look "up-scale" including a place that lacks toilet tissue. -_-;
Yeah, I know... my family here thinks it's really upscale because it's expensive and has a bunch of gold haired people walking around. Anyways, it all looks ghetto to me because of the pollution buildup on the building walls.
I see. :D Gold hair people? Haha.. To me, it's not so bad whenever I visit Taiwan. Never really noticed the pollution build-up but I know it's there. It's much worse in Kenting (sp?) where people ride jet skis with oil spilling out of them into the water with people swimming nearby. Rargh.
-.- that place isn't a upscale neigborhood cuz i live there, if you make a right turn at Family Mart, then u will see a giant red building, that's where i live in Taiwan, lol
I love your vids . .. my wife grew up in taipei but they never took any vids, so this is like substituting for their negligence! I can't wait to show them . . . they used to always go to that Swensen's restaurant pictured at 09:45 of this vid. . too cool!
Many people have sent me private messages just like this one. I guess it's not so relevant to me, but certain places mean a lot more to others. I'm glad you got more out of it than me. :)
Went to TAS ten years ago. Still looks the same!

I was a TAS student from 4th grade to 12th grade. Even when I go back, i never ride in scooters, hehe

Well, I should have said "high rent" neighborhood. My cousins think that's a much better place to live due to less congestion and more trees.
