  • Who is the Capoeirista on minute 2:20 of the documentary? He is so freaking good.

  • Comment removed

  • legal

  • I'm soooooooooo glad I watched this

  • brazol's got bjj and this, master both, that'll be sick

  • Funny how this video made only 1 reference to the origins of Capoeira. That's the different between Angola and Regional. We embrace the African history of Capoeira, but Regionalistas (and Contemporânea) don't really care about Capoeiras traditions. There are more differences between Regionalistas and Angoleiros than the way we fight, but at the end of the day we all love Capoeira.

  • of course we care about the origins. angola is amazing.

  • This was an excellent video that allowed anybody to peak into the world of a Capoeirista. Through the documentary of one style the essence of Capoeira was displayed and articulated very well. This group would be a blast to be in.

    E capoeira.. é lindo!!!

    Great video, its realy nice.

  • desenvolvido no Brasil? Gracie JJ Hahahahahah

  • good!

  • cuz it's more of a dance than martial arts

    -.-

  • people die in capoeira rings here in brasil, its not a dance at all

  • I wonder why there are no Capoeira fighters in Mixed Martial Arts?

  • there was... but they die out pretty quickly. its a good suplement. but not vry good for full on fighting...

  • There are. Mestre Barrao son, Barraozinho. mestre hulk. jean silva... there are others, I forgot their names. That twista guy is sorta right but mostly wrong. Then thing about Capoeira. Most people train to play the game of capoeira. O jogo. Few people train their Capoeira skills in a combative manner. you can usually tell which ones by how they follow though with their kicks. I would bet that black guy from the video and the older lookin guy can fuck someone up.
  • @kelseywall , that's food for thought. I think because of the emphazis on the musicality or dance rather than on sparring it won't give the combat edge required in the ring like a Muay Thai boxer. However in my opinion, like most martial arts it's a very good self-defence system.

  • świetny filmik, wystarczy teoche zngielski znać i juz sie rozumie :) pozdrrr !

  • Nice video!

  • great vid!^^

  • zjaebiste to;d;d

  • yeah capoeira is a good way of life!

  • Very educational. Love the music and the roda. Or is it the Jogo? Either way, it was cool.

  • roda is " the circle"......jogo is "the game" of playing

  • and whats chinga? when he talk about style...

  • ginga is the basic movement of the players in capoeira...

  • thanks mate

    excellent

  • Awesome Video!

  • Wow! This is a great introduction to Capoeira. Well done.

  • no hablo español!! only Czech and little english!!!

  • Boa producao..

"control players in the RODA" nao pegou bem!!

    hahahahahaha

deveria ser ao menos "control players on the CIRCLE"

mas em si a reportagem foi boa..

    parabens

  • capoeristas out there, do you have to be bare foot all the time or can you wear sport shoes?

  • YEAH...U CAN WEAR SPORT SHOES...

  • every capoeirista will love this video!!!

you guys did a great job!

  • okay...first off, i have to say the black guy is extremely attractive, he has great vibes...Now, for the documentary, its simply lovely.

    Beauty/Happiness/Strengh

Capoeria is another beautiful thing that came from Brazilll

    Thank you

  • I have a crush on the black guy who appeared at 2:20. I am sure that he is Brazilian. Do you know if he is single? How old is he?

  • I THINK I CAN FIND HIM FOR YOU, GIRL.

  • What if he is gay? LOL. My crush expired, I don't like him anymore. Thanks anyway.

    Axe

  • I was playng, girl. If your crush expired...; but he is brazilian, like me, the most probable is that he likes girls a lot....

  • Yeah you might like girls but what tell you that girls like you? HE seems nice but I bet that he a pimp. He is too hot to be single. Except if he has been waiting for me.How old do you think he might be? I am bad with this kind of guess. Isn't that hilarious? We are talking about him but he probably doesn't know how popular he is. Do you live pernambuco or Salvador? If I ever stop in Brazil, I will go to Bahia.

  • He's gay he is my boyfriend........in Canada.

  • Hahah where in Canada?Well you got a hot boyfreind if it's true.

  • Vancouver...........

  • He is your BF in Canada but your profile said that you're in the states

  • I dont live in Pernambuco,I live in Minas Gerais. My business is'not capoeira, is Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.I dont speak english very well, so, then let me speak some things, I am a guy, of the type that likes girls, how to say thats? I think your boy should also like, for the reasons that he already told you, but we don't have problems with things of this nature for here. It can go the Bahia, you will have fun a lot. Good luck to you.

  • Good luck with your business man. Don't break your teeth wih kicks because girls will ot like it.

  • Nothing will be broken, the god of BJJ doesn't allow that hurt ourselves. Be in the peace, gata.

  • I don't speak Portuguese but I think that you might be abl to understand if I write in Spanish.

  • If you are not American, which is your origin? I also find interesting capoeira, but those movements seem impossible thing, those incredible flights.... I Prefer to be in the ground.(""Porque é que estou falando contigo neste idioma?" No comprende este palabra")

Anything against this beautiful culture, but I don't like to write in English.

  • I am Carribean.I know that it hurst to tell a Brazilian that I support Argentina pero lo siento porque mi sangre y mi alma son albiceleste.

But, I think that Brasil and Caribe will always be a good combination, much better than Argentina and Caribe. It is like mixing fire with oxygen.

    BABEL: PORTUGUESE; ENGLISH; SPANISH.

Look, do you want to learn Portuñol?

I wouldn't mind learning it.What other languages do you speak ademas de ingles y Portugues?

  • yo hablo español!! XD

  • Afro-caribena

    cut the caribena

    and past brasileira.

  • Why would I do that?WHen I say Afrocaribena I don't mean Brazilian dance or Brazilian music.I'm a caribbean+ a dancer. I enjoy my traditional dance and musics. I like some of the Brasiian ones because the rhytm is quiet similar, because some of them have the same origin, because I love dancing with drum (my area of specialization) and the Afro-Brazilian+the AfroCaribbean have that in common.

  • Gata, did you break my heart now, do you prefer the Argentina? There is not anything worse to say a Brazilian.

  • this video made me smile when iw atched it! tremendous documentery

  • I wonder when they teach you all the cool tricks and flips.

  • I love the capoeira

    ^^

  • Capoeira - Vancouver Film School (VFS)

  • Capoeira is beautiful, I want to learn it but I'm not fit enough.

  • there is no right size for capoeira. I've seen 300lb men train in capoeira there is no discrimination against n-e 1..no one expects a beginner to be a great fighter you have to hone your capoeira skills..I believe anyone can do capoeira....GOOD LUCK

  • I know how to do Capoeira! Only a lil though!

  • WOW!! lol u guys make really good videos!! i watxh a lot of them! keep up the good work!

  • Congratulations!

I liked the video a lot. And yes, those guys play it well!

  • the movement is beautiful!

  • Brasileiro falando inglês ainda fala como brasileiro :D Essa galera joga hein!

  • capoeira is my life ive been doing it for almost 8 years <3

  • Woo! =]

  • capoeira really does change lives, its changed mine.

  • I'm impressed at the stamina!

Ever try to kick a few times?

    These guys rock!

  • @newarr:

Capoeira comes from the former slaves in Brasil...Salvador de Bahia in the NE of Brasil is said to be the root of this martial art. The slaves camouflaged it as some kind of tribal dance.

  • excellent vid.

  • i love watching videos of capoeira and listening music of Brazil

  • Nice clip

  • only thing i didnt really like about this is they never really explained where it came from.

  • great documentary.

  • really enjoyable documentary, brilliant editing thanks for posting your work

  • Eu sou capoeirista do grupo Abada Capoeira Mexico.

    Axe e joga bonito

  • looks like a form of martial arts hard to take up.

  • i'd say it's not hard to take up because the people are so friendly and accepting

  • nice video, shows alot of good stuff!

  • good docu.. if you need a new idea... what i would think isn't easy to connect is capoeira with clowning styles(USA)which are based on fightdancing and thai boxing where the music plays a more tantric role where cpaoeira binds dance with ficht with music

  • nossa cultura do brasil é super boa... olha os stats envejando do brasil kkk

  • thats nothing compare to chinese kung fu ..man..!!! oh yeah the music is sooo annoying tbh

  • man u cant compare kung fu with capoeira, surely cong fu is great but more than the actual movement the real art is in what both mean. Music is part from capoeira as other things surely are to kung fu.

    Cacao.

  • Yeah go to Brazil and see the real Capoeira, where it has started, go to the rooots.......

  • nice to watch, shitty to use in fights, while your jumping in the air i will grab your ass or possibly kick you lol

  • Comment removed

  • Who gives a fuck?!

  • Tua mãe me deu uma "fuck" ontem. Eu comi ela de todas as maneiras. Aquela puta.

  • TO sabendo, ela me falou.

  • Go to Brazil and see real capoeira...not this gringo modified dance

  • gorgeous

  • Capoeira still has more conservative attacks with knees for close combat like you're talking about. The Mestro I learned from always said the more serious the fight gets, the less you become airborn and the more you remain grounded. So Capoeira is extremely dynamic in how they fight, it's really incredible!

    Great video! ^_^

  • great answer! as any fighter might tell you...power comes from how you transfer energy from the ground to the fist, knee, elbow...etc. I thought those flips looked like showmanship as opposed to any real power fight technique.

  • forgive my ignorance, but is this a martial art that has roots in fighting? I noticed the people calling it a "game" but it looks like a "dance" of sorts. I enjoyed the visionary aspects of this video, but I don't understand the spiritual aspect that was mentioned.

    great video!

  • its a martial art + dance.

the african slaves in Brazil trained the fight but looking as a dance, so the white people would not notice the real propourse

  • sounds a lot like karate in it's disguised fight moves. thanks for the reply

  • it has nothing to do with karate except that people fight, and some people call it a game cuz its fun. also the only thing spiritual about it is its connection to macumba but you dont have to belive in spiritualnis and macumba to do capoeira. just like you dont need to be buddist to do tae kwun do (or is it hinduism... i think you get the point)

oh yeah, they made it look like a dance in Brasil so that the slave owners couldn't find out they were practicing their fighting.

  • Good info :)

  • Thanx, I'm usually stuck with replies telling me to stfu.

  • Beautifle art...thank you for the awsom video but the problem that might accure if ever a fight break down it will reqire alot of room to move around and flip.. other then that its an awsom art

  • Click on my username and come get your adrenaline fix ! Gravity Rules but People Can Fly !

  • great production!

  • kakaka.. go to bahia and see the real capoeira.

  • what a bunch of hot chicks o_o

  • man that was sum crazy shit ... i liked how u put everything ,thats exactly whats happenin these days ...

    keep at it

  • You'd think for a film school, they'd have something better than a Hi-8 camera.

  • actually it was shot on DVCAM with a Sony DSR-300, you're watching low res man.

  • very cool. I want to learn this. i bet capoeristas could dance rings around ninjas.

  • kind of wierd

  • Wonderful! I'm amazed at the talent of these people. I love their Spirit!

  • well-spent 8 minutes!

  • BRASIL É FODA ! i mean, Brasil rules ! everything here it´s sounds perfect, beautiful. love love my country ! rs cool video guys!

  • This is amazing. I'm not Brazilian but I like their culture.

  • This is so cool, was good to watch. I started with capoeira two months ago and watching this makes me want to continue with the trainings which are really hard at the start:)))

  • Really cool... Watch this one (it's capoeira too): watch?v=d8KEWFUq64A

  • Dahora

  • I miss Brazil

this video made me remember so much!!! its so cool.. ven just to listen to the music makes you feel so nice :)

  • dude thats balla! lol but it is! ^_^

  • Im brasilian ;p its good..

  • HEY, these guys are break dance fighting!

  • Hey, these guys are break dance fighting!

  • Hey, these guys are break dance fighting!

  • Capoeira is a cool dance movement, but if you are interested in martial arts and live in Brazil, holla at a Jiu Jitsu Acadamy

  • I'm brazilian and its beautiful!!! the gingaa...oww maan!!

    BRASIL!!

  • Ginga é coise de viado!

  • And just because they found something else besides religion that was able to influence their life dramatically, don't get all butt-hurt. Shit

  • Dude... DXWXMX44... When in the film did they say they were searching for the meaning of life? They said all they are is "keepers of this beautiful art form."

"Questions of the soul? His Name or his Son's Name?"

Come on... you're questions are totally unrelated to anything in this film, if you're going to comment like that, do it where people will listen. On this video... "Quit being so serious"!

  • Wow this is so cool.... fighting dancing clapping exercise, community...fun, concentration, pushing yourself - it has everything.

  • It took soo much people to edit this video, meanwhile i make movies all the time and they come out like this, or even better and only 1 sound editor, and 1 director, and 1 everything and that 1 person is me. I am surprise how this movie needed soo much help, Canada, BC rocks though eh!!

  • Good short film, I liked the content.

  • Sure I guess you could say to have "a focus" is better than "no focus" - but is this the meaning of life?

Does this answer the questions of the soul? Does this tell us His Name, or His Son's Name? No

  • wtf are you talking about? you're totally retarded.

  • I think he/she is referring to the person who saw Capoeira as a spiritual experience.

But there are many ways to answer the questions of the soul, and if this person thinks their way is the only "right" way, then yeah..."retarded" is a good way of putting it.
