I went to Broadway to see Mr. Rush in Exit The King on 06/11/09 (2nd time I saw it). Saw him on the way out. He was so gracious and yes, you would have melted.

The gentleman is a class act.

@qazqashire It really doesn't matter who the boy is - an agent hired by one of Walsingham's enemies, presumably. This whole scene is intended to illustrate who Walsingham is - he's a possible atheist, and it's implied he's at least bisexual, both things that carried death penalties at the time, so he's subversive. And it shows him as master manipulator and ruthless assassin too - not a guy to be messed with, no matter how powerful you are!!

Sir Walsingham is depicted in this movie as a somewhat practical Machiavelli; who advocates that Elizabeth should secure power by cruelty and ruthlessness if necessary, quite an awesome performance done by the actor here.
