I looove this song! It's much more enjoyable to listen to when you've played it through already and ***SPOILER*** know you're going to save Eiko :p And when you are PREPARED for those damn dragons.
@Borickcreator Except Freya-Quina-Steiner-Zidane was the best lineup you could pick. Angel Snack for team remedies, Frog Drop, Dragon Crest, Shock, Theivery for constant 9999 damage unreflectable ranged attacks, all 4 are fairly durable with White Wind and Rei's Wind for healing, and Auto-life if you are feeling hinky.
@981407036x It was a dungeon music in FF1 and it was remixed for FF9 (this version) and for the chocobo race game (mithril mines), because this theme really rocks :')
LOL those Red Dragons are crazy. Here I'm wandering though Mt. Gulug looking for Kuja and all of a sudden huge dragons burst in though the roof and scare the shit of me.
@PeyserConley Anybody know where I can find the music when Cid must solve different tasks to let the party out of their entrapment in Kuja's Desert Palace? What's the name of the track? It's kinda like a blues rock theme, I think. Thanks ;D
No, FF9 was a tribute to all over Final Fantasy's. Hense why there's the four fiends at the end of the game, the music includes remixed pieces from Final Fantasy V, VII and the very first one. Vivi was even a massive reference to the old black mages they used to use, Square knew after number 9, things for Final Fantasy would never be the same again, so they made it as a tribute to the old series.
I'm playing FF9 again right now.. Have beat this game countless times, but now I'm playing this on a emulator with better graphics! Even though graphics say nothing to me, but this is fun! And right now I'm at disk 3.. On my way (At Mount Gulug) saving Eiko. ;-)
could it be that the world in FF9 and FF1 is the same??? because of the four element guys and the gulug volcano/mount ??? I´ve never played 1 but I now a little of the story and its on my to play list.
its not the same world but FF9 was a Back to the Roots FF
you`ll find much things of ff1-6 stuff in it like the doga and une theme when you bought dogas mirror and unes artifact and active then the player in the black mage village
Did anyone get to this point and recognise the theme from FF I? Because I hadn't played FF I before I played this one, and I wondered what it was like to hear this again.
@leftymu I was like "Oh, yes, I love this song" I was so happy remembering how catchy it was....Then I remembered the fight against Malarith using only black mages...Screw it, it's catchy :D
I was listening to my step brother play FF IX and heard this peice. I was like "... Wait... ive heard this from soemwhere else before... -remembers Mount Gulg from FFI- Oh yeah!"
I used to always keep a save file on my memory card near this portion the game because it's impossible to return to Mt Gulug after disc 4. But thanks to youtube I can listen to this great song whenever and free up some space on my memory card!
NO! not this theme!! gahh, i love this score so much.....but the stupid bird demon things...! remember that really long rope you had to climb down...then the camera angle got all messed up and a bird demon BURST THROUGH THE FREAKING WALL?! yeah...that one got me stuck for WEEKS. =[
Love this. Definitely has a "old school" (NES or SNES game) feel to it. FF9 owns all. The reason it doesn't beat 7 for me is because, like many others, it was my first FF.
@PeyserConley aw thank u ^.^ ive played ff1 before bu was ages ago....jus thinking if was in another game bu i cant find that ther was another with this song so think it was jus ff1....lol thanks :)
@PeyserConley Iv recently required it and heard it thanks :) tho i heard it somwhere before it bu i dno wher tbh :S might hav been my own imagination lol XD
@LindsL84 The Fiend's Caves (IIRC the Tiamat doesn't get it) have this music, as some other dungeons. So the Earth Cave, containing the Lich, has this as does the Underwater Shrine containing the Kraken. However, this song is named after Mount Gulgu, where the Marilith-Kary resides.
@sonytekkno yeah ^^ im not so sure...its so weird how i recognise it XD maybe was on another RPG game, or music may seem to be same and similar tho different, i dnt know >.< but yeah...gah i wish i knew what makes me think ive heard this before...another game :) thanks u for thinking same as me :) lol i think its great too! ^^
@ShukakuTheDemon Aw thanks :) ive never played chocobo tables for DS tho :S haha! i dno how or where i listened to it before, but who knows haha xD thanks anyways ^^ rly thanks ^^
this was one of my favorite themes to listen to while tryin to save eiko, it just made it seem like the game was tryin to say 'sure there's a thousand things tryin to kill you, but hey, here's a catchy tune to make it all better'

Now I'm thinking about it... (Just before I get bashed I KNOW that all the different FF's are in seperate universes)
But I kinda feel like FF9 is like FF1 except, well, it's FF9 lol :P
And it's all about how crystals are basically... Omnipotent etc. and important in the end etc. etc. :P
Which is kinda the main FF thing... :\
Maybe it's because it was the LAST proper Final Fantasy before it started to change...
