The 4 train r142 =1101-1250 and 6511-6514 from the 2train 6790-6799 from the5 train and 7056 -7180 = 380 cars R142AS 7671-7810 (the ugly4 train) and unfortinately no R62's on the 4 train :(

In my opinion I prefer the R62s get replaced with the R62A, because the R62 is very raggedy. Maybe the R62 can serve as work cars.

the R62/62As do not need to retire until at least 2030. they can hit 50 before retirement. the 4 no longer uses R62As. one R62 may still run on that line

Yes they do when they have car shortages.

Car Shortage is when they don't have enough of a model of train that normally runs that line so they must take another set of train cars that are a different model to run that line. In this case they did not have enough R142s so they needed to borrow 1 or 2 R62s.

in subway terms they R62s are new. if u knew the way the system worked, u'd know that subway cars have to be used at least for 40 years b4 they start retiring and scraping them. the R62s came out in the 80s so they still have a very long way to go b4 they even begin retirement.

being replaced with CBTC.The cars that will run on the

(7)starting middle next year are called R142S.

no bro, whats running on the 7 line are the R62s and R62As and those cars will not retire at least until 2025. they have a longggg way to go. i doubt that the R188s will be ordered in 2011 or 2012. whatever lines u see that has R62s and R62As will remain there for at least 15 more yrs. those cars are still fairly new.
