Since it seems your are a tomato's sauce fan, I would suggest the traditional way to cook this sauce: chop half onion in very small pieces, fry for 3-4 mins the onions slowly with 3 spoon olive oil, then put some cow meat pieces and half glass of white wine, and set the fire very high so the wine evaporate. Then add the 'san marzano' tomatoes. Now cook slowly for 2-3 hours so the water goes away and becomes almost dry. 10 minutes before it's done, add some basil. Guten Appetit!
