  • 17 people have a diffrent taste of music, (wow aint that a peacefull comment!!!)

  • check out this band I found...interesting...youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=6jAmhCqeq1U

  • That album cover looks like a Yu-Gi-Oh! monster

  • @CaptainHurpDurp It totally does!

  • One of the best songs and albums ever made, they've really projected the essence of air into music. Touching, dynamic, sharp, complex. Brilliant, just brilliant.

  • This is supposed to be technical DEATH metal? O.o I don't think so. At all.

  • @Shadyblast Besides Human era Death, which was half comprised of Cynic, Cynic is THE technical death metal band.

  • @Shadyblast yes it is... listen to cynic's albums. death metal doesnt have to be super heavy...

  • @Shadyblast people categorize Cynic because of using growling, i dont agree tho, for me its progressive metal.

  • Cynic is what you get when you know your music theory.

  • "A million doves!"

I love that part so much!

  • A million doves...

  • Between The Buried And Me.

  • Blue waffle.

    I see blue waffle.

  • Love the robot vox.

  • Rolling Stones my ass, Cynic my ass... Linking Park is the heaviest shit you will ever find man! I tell you guys, Linking park are SICK! Outbeats everywith with a blast man! So Brootal!

  • @Metalwrestling Oh,come on.

You can troll better than that.

  • Man I love the sound of these guys....I am gonna buy a few of their albums for sure.

  • I just came back from a Cynic concert and it was SOOOOOO good! Paul said that this song is about forgiveness, forgiving others and yourself... I also had a chance to talk to Paul&Sean, I've been high of happiness ever since! ^^

  • Sorry but i cant get into this new album.....maybe is lack of a vocoder? or the pure strength and mightiness of focus? who knows!

  • @TheZombieXecutioner They aren't a band that tries to emulate their past albums. Don't expect them to sound the same on each of their releases.

  • @igotwoodhaha Well i dont like the direction they went i guess. :p

  • im soooo disappointed in their new ep...but this album and focus are fucking brilliant

  • @MasterZealot09 dont get me wrong, its very talented, but i just dont like the sound of it

  • @nocturnasinterfector I just saw them live last Saturday. They only played 2 songs from the EP, but I really enjoyed it.

Otherwise they played: Viel of Maya, How Could I, Integral Birth, King of Those Who Know, Space for This, and that's all I remember right now. It was a really good show.

  • This is quite unique! I have never ehard them before now.....I have to keep listening to them...but I think this is a keeper!

  • GET READY TROLLS!

    DEATH is dead.

    Yes, DEATH was influential.

    BUT!

Music changes and fans change with it, get over it.

The bands that have replaced DEATH over time kick the fucking shit out DEATH, MUSIC EVOLVES! And you know what? I'm gonna say it: I don't fucking like death and I never will. I think it's crap. Bands like Veil of Maya, Born of Osiris, August Burns Red and Animals as Leaders (just to name a few) have completely transformed the genre into something way more melodic and technical

  • @selubria yeah whatever man...we dont give a shit, we're just here to listen to Cynic

  • @selubria I respect Death alot, but I can say i'm not the biggest fan, Had Chuck not died, there's no telling how much their sound could have evolved though. However, I doubt that any of the bands you named were influenced directly by Death. Decrepit Birth, Cynic, Necrophagist and maybe even The Faceless would have been bands that picked up where Death left off. Veil of Maya, Born of Osiris, August Burns Red and Animals as Leaders are not even death metal and should not be mentioned.

  • @AlienSpace666 You prove my point. Stylistically all these bands sound nothing like Death, exactly! And no matter who these musicians were inspired or influenced by directly, everyone, at least indirectly, was/is influenced by bands like death and nirvana and early heavy metal and punk. It's the bands today, only few which I mentioned, that have expanded upon that sound and transformed it into waaaay better music. So yeah, Veil of Maya isn't comparable to Death because VoM is vastly superior.

  • @selubria I know Death isn't amazing, but saying VoM is vastly superior is a bit too much. I understand what you're saying, but I don't like comparing the pioneers of death metal with a band that is in no way superior to what death could be today and the bands that death influence. For example, the 4 bands I listed earlier were influenced by death. Those bands are way better in most aspects than VoM. AAL is an exception. Their Time Sigs. are awesome and Tosin's 8string leads are just right.

  • @AlienSpace666 Yeah man aal is definitely amazing. Sometimes I wish they had vocals but others don't eh, whatever. I may have been over zealous with that last statement, maybe :p, but I'm just really obsessed with [id] atm. Every aspect of that album is damn near a good example of perfection. I really just wish there was more clarification between modern day death metal bands and old school bands like Death and black sabbath and metallica and iron maiden, you know who I'm talking. Fans from

  • @AlienSpace666 both sides claim that their bands are ''real'' death metal bands.

  • @selubria Legitimately, only the ones I named are death metal.

  • @AlienSpace666 The legitimately, what are the ones I named? math/tech/bull/shit/made-up-core?

  • @selubria AAL consist of experimental/progressive metal with jazzfusion. August Burns Red is really good metalcore. Veil of Maya could probably be called metal core though they sound more progressive IMO and Born of Osiris could easily fall under progressive metal as well. Death metal has a very unique sound to people who listen to it all the time and I don't really pick up any death metal from the above bands. But yeah, man. Some ppl are cool on youtube and some are just bitches.

  • @AlienSpace666 What would you say of something like the number 12 looks like you with their santana-like guitar solos and salsa beats?

  • @selubria They seem like progressive metal with some jazz elements and a little bit of hardcore. The vocals could be better. They seem really diverse though. Some bands are hard to label. Doesn't mean they're really good or really bad, just really different.

  • @AlienSpace666 Eh, I'd have to disagree. I used to not like them BECAUSE of their vocals but they really grow onto to you if you listen to 'em enough.

  • @AlienSpace666 Trying to place bands in genres is like trying to catch a river in a bucket. So legitimately, this whole thing is actually ridiculous.

  • @selubria Regardless, genres exist. I hate the fact that music can't just be music, but genres exist. I find it more ridiculous that so many bands put them self in whatever genre they think sounds good. There are certain criterias that music meets to be put in certain genres. I do agree though that at this point in time, genres are ridiculous and really uncalled for. Music is music and I love it \m/

  • @AlienSpace666 Just glad that I could have a decent debate with someone over youtube without being called a faggot right off the bat. Music is necessary for human survival I think.

  • while making it even heavier than anything DEATH could have conjured. Not to mention, lyrically the aforementioned bands are superior to DEATH. If chuck what's his fuck was alive today, the respective guitarist's from these bands, ESPECIALLY Tosin Abasi from AaL, would make his fucking head spin with their riffs. FUCK DEATH! So, with that being said you can now start frothing at the mouth and smash your keyboard with those eager fingers! I wanna hear it. Entertain me, please.

  • And once again, this song is soo damn good. Theese guys are revolutionary in the genre of Jazz Fusion. They've created a new standard for where metal can go, thank you Cynic for all your hard work and creativity for us listening to enjoy and bash our heads too !!

  • This goes out to anybody who was dissapointed or hurt by my comment above. Death is definetly one of my fav bands of all time. They have done so much for me in my life that it is hard to explain. So for someone to disrespect Chuck Shuldiner or anyone in the band itself is like insulting my own family. I appolise for the harsg drunken speach and language. Live metal !!!

  • When I first bought this album it had a black and white warning sticker on the front that read "PARENTAL ADVISORY: This album contains music that is fucking awesome".

  • I think we all here agree that whoever was the asshole that said that Death was a shit band he/she is a fucking ignorant, now can we focus on this awesome band?

  • cynic is boss. period.

  • Death Sucks Trololol? Death should not be mentioned whatsoever in a Cynic Video.

  • Paul Masvidal also worked with Chuck at Death.

  • death is a shit band? LOL who said that?!?! That's like saying the rolling stones are a shit band^^ I mean, you don't have to listen to death, but you can't deny they pretty much invented the genre.

  • @JesterOnCrack The Rolling Stones ARE a shit band

  • @InaGameComa They aren't, you just don't like them. And neither i do, but i think they had a great role in all the modern rock/metal genre...

  • @InaGameComa Are you high?

  • @InaGameComa you shouldn't deserve to listen to music...at all

  • @MoshersRage Why? Because I refuse to fall in line and worship the commercial pop-rock band that everyone else worships to fit in? I actually think I deserve to listen to music more than about 90% of people

  • @InaGameComa they were commercial because that was the only thing happening in the 60s other than the beatles. they helped kickstart an entire generation of music which eventually lead up to the music we have now...not the shit all over mtv and the media. i don't really like the beatles, their music bores me, but they're nowhere near a shit band because of what they did for the music industry forever and it's the exact same concept with the rolling stones

  • @InaGameComa shut the fuck up

  • Comment removed

  • @DethThrasher1 I will never shut the fuck up. If you don't like it you can just go ahead and fuck yourself.

  • @InaGameComa dumb cunt, the rolling stones are a legendary band

  • @DethThrasher1 Legendary means popular. Not talented. Never forget that.

  • @InaGameComa the rolling stones ARE talented though, in the late 60s and early 70s they put out some of the best albums ever made

  • @InaGameComa I don't like the rolling stones too, but just because you don't like the rolling stones doesn't make them talentless.

  • @InaGameComa what a cunt you are

  • @allmusicsucks Ooh I love being talked dirty to. Too bad you can't spit in my mouth over youtube.

  • @InaGameComa Ha, you win.

  • @InaGameComa Jester really was on crack

  • @InaGameComa Stop trying to show off the fact that you dislike an extremely popular band. It doesn't make you more intelligent and more independent than "90% of people"

Hipsters gonna hip. Dirty, dirty hipster

  • @Cramnaps I am NOT a hipster. And I'm not expressing my dislike for the Rolling Stones to seem intelligent. I don't give a fuck if a bunch of people I don't know think I'm smart. I'm expressing my dislike for the Rolling Stones because I fucking hate them. Some people have their own opinions, you know? There doesn't need to be an ulterior motive.

  • @InaGameComa I don't like Lil' Wayne, but I won't rant about him being shit just when someone says his name, because that's pretty annoying

  • @Cramnaps You should. Maybe if more people in the sixties thought like I do, we wouldn't be worshiping a sub-standard band as legends...

  • @Cramnaps What I'm saying is start bitching about Lil Wayne now, so his popularity doesn't outgrow his talent for 50 years, like a certain band we've been bantering about on this video.

  • Death was theoretically not a band. Death was Chuck Schuldiner! And he was so great that could be a band himself. So, who thinks Death is a shit band, better shouldn't even THINK again.

  • Listened to this all baked and shit.

  • Another classic Progressive Metal band!. With only two records out, they have built a huge legacy in contemporany music and beyond its genre... Cynic fucking rules!!!.

  • @CarlosH1982 Uhm, just in case you didn't know Cynic has 6 demos, and another EP on the way. Just a heads up.

  • @ClemsonFTW Actually, I know about the demos, but I only mention the most notorious part of their discography and I summarised it on its two records to date, of course, there are side projects (mainly from Masdival & Reinert) such as: Aeon Spoke and Portal.

  • integral birth => Newton and Leibniz =)

  • I masturbated to soft, furry kittens listening to this. I came when Paul Masvidal sings "A million doves" for the third time!

  • can't anyone like a band without sounding like an angry adolescent when someone insults it? doesn't that make you just as immature as them?

  • @metalandsex No.

A favorite band is like a mother.

    Insult mine and you die.

  • @MisterStomper okay that's cool. you can just like go around killing people. have fun.

  • @metalandsex Thank you, I will =]

  • For years and years I have been trying to cultivate one particular tune, I heard this tune in this song.

And I cryed, not because of the fact that I had wasted my time.

But because this song is so good.

  • I don't know what they wrote about, but "A million doves

Orbit round the Earth with tears of blood" sounds to me like a recreation of "Noah's Ark". just this time the doves aren't coming back with a tree branch, they come back with sorrow and pain - the only thing they could found.

and it doesn't matter how much doves try. they only find that.

It symbolizes the difference between the world now and then.

now you can only find drugs, violence and pain.

  • @guysapire Wow.That's Deep.

  • @redneckdipper1337 yep. after listening to this song every day for a couple of months I thought of that. XD

  • @guysapire drugs, violence and pain were always existent in human history drugs were used in tribal rituals, violence too wars were common honor killing etc.. and pain of course since the human nervous system didnt change so they still felt pain,,.the world is still the same..but actually a little bit better with human rights and freedoms...

  • Anyone who says this is gay, is a total retarded...

  • I love how this video has like 144k views, and all the other cynic songs have anywhere from 7k--65k...

  • @FoxEnyuron I don't..

  • if people have negative opinions, it means their genitals haven't evolved into proper genitals and they just have biscuits for dicks

  • @ascendancy2 Rofl. Biscuits.

  • great!

  • It's music ! hear it , chill, get real!!

  • very original sound and lyrics.

  • @98723123 Spyral Architect maybe.

  • what bands can you suggest me that play the same genre of music as cynic????

  • @98723123 atheist sorta

  • @98723123 The Helix Nebula, CHON, Haunted Shores, Ruins Of Alph. They have similar styles I guess, some more than others. Either way amazing bands. Some of the best.

  • @98723123 Last Chance to Reason is a great band that you'd like, it's pretty much a combination of Cynic and Between the Buried and Me...all 3 are incredible-ass bands. \m/

  • @98723123 Last Chance To Reason for sure check out Programmed for Battle and Upload Complete they're awesome.

  • @Megasus007 Last chance to reason is one of my favorite bands of all time!!! lol

  • Atheist. Unquestionable Presence is the best metal album ever recorded.

  • Personally im just glad that theres simply a band that gave us "Focus" and this. These albums will keep my ears satisfied for the next decade, at least.

  • Jebane Emo dla jebanych emolców

  • @TheSuddenFire Go die.

  • @Afterburnzz dude tahts great, they wont do "sad replicas of a tired sound" this is tottaly original stuff

  • Wow, man. I used to love Cynic because of Focus, but this thing...this is not the old cynic. I'm not sure I like this. The vocal delivery seems shoddy and the guitar is a bit too garbled. The drums are still consistent, at least. I'm not sure whether I like this album...It's certainly not Focus, but...I have no idea what they were aiming for.

  • @Afterburnzz I think it would be unreasonable and naive to expect them to come back with 'Focus II". I definitely love 'Focus", probably one of the most beautiful metal albums ever, definitely raised the bar. But this is Cynic now. Not only is Jason Gobel not in the band anymore, it is way more than a decade since they released 'Focus" and they definitely are not the same band or people. And again it would be unfair to expect them to be. But it still sounds like Cynic IMO.

  • This band is so fucking nasty. I need a tissue, i'm crying over here!!!

  • Why would anybody argue about these things? Arguing with ignorance only perpetuates it.

  • way too short!

  • WHO THE FUCK SAID DEATH WAS A SHIT BAND !!!! omgggg GTFO please ... just please never ever say anything ever again for as long as you fucking live.. and if you have any sense of liking metal then please just stop liking metal cause definetly dont deserve to listen to it in any way shape or form. You sir are a fucking idiot and deserve to die rather then the brilliant man that was Chuck Shuldiner you are a disgrace to the metal community and make all of us look bad btw this song rocks tooo much !

  • @MetalOfAllOwns i'm not one for bashing people's opinions...especially about music, but anyone who says Death is a shit band deserves to be severely beaten

  • @MetalOfAllOwns I didn't even read half of that comment but I got the idea and truer words could not be spoken

  • @MetalOfAllOwns dude, you sound like you're on fucking steroids. death is a great band, no doubt, but it's an insult to the metal community that you should have to talk to anyone like that. if they have a shit opinion, then it isn't worth it to pay attention to it. aight chief? lol

  • @MetalOfAllOwns I'm totally agree with you! Death was one of the best band ever...

  • @MetalOfAllOwns yeah, there is no reason for us to get wrapped up in some conflict or fued... cynic is good and so is death. like them or dont... otherwise shut the hell up.

  • @MetalOfAllOwns The fact that this poorly-written, immature, over-reactive, cliched, profanity-laden rant got 74 thumbs up is a worse reflection on the metal community than anyone saying Death is a shit band.

  • so i see you like megaman rock

  • Why must their songs be so short?

  • @theberzerker0 i know right? i can never have enough of Cynic, unlike even music I LOVE they never get old

  • 0:40 :)

  • sound of hate !!!!

  • i love this song!!!

  • omg epic vocals

  • Cynic is my muse

  • @PlacidRationale I'm sorry but i strongly disagree with you. Chuck was a true artist and composer.

  • @devor3 muse/myo͞oz/

    Verb: Be absorbed in thought.

Noun: An instance or period of reflection.

  • @Dethsquirrel Chuck has a beautiful voice..

  • @Dethsquirrel Ironically I like both Dave Mustaine better than most in Thrash and Chuck Schuldiner's most in Death Metal.

  • @cooliovasquez this album is perfect in my opinion and every other cynic fan

  • @phreestylesk8r nope because im a cynic fan

  • @cooliovasquez oh, have you listened to it all the way though?

  • @phreestylesk8r yeah maybe i have to listen to it again because all the songs seem to run together, unlike focus where each song is an epic journey of awesomeness

  • @cooliovasquez ya maybe if u listen to it again its alot different from focus. to me traced in air is an epic journey fom start to finish. do you have the album?

  • @phreestylesk8r nope

  • 12 people really missed out..

  • I want Integral damnit!

  • SOOO GOOOD

  • This song is great.

  • These guys are working on a new album!

  • @Chips185 Let's see if we have to wait another 14 years ;D

  • Ya high pitched effect voice not good, natural voice awesome

  • @DreadedEd I think they were just experimenting, but I agree. To bad their new E.P. sucks.

  • Strong musically. . not so much vocally.

  • @razorslice17 lol... are you kidding me? paul has one of the most unique and amazing vocal talents in metal, and i'd even venture to say music in general...

  • Play this shit really loud in your vehicle ;) ...good head turner lol

  • @tworevolvers Play Beneath The Massacre in your car, now thats a fucking head turner

  • first time hearing this band! love it!

  • wow... 12 people don't think that a million doves orbit round the earth with tears of blood.

  • @12remmy12

the ''# of people that disliked, did this'' quotes are getting old >.>

  • ok finally i found a Cynic song i can almost get into, most of their stuff is really boring to me, dont get me wrong i know its musically insane but its almost laborious for me to listen to

  • @Dethsquirrel i liked their old stuff better, the high pitched vocals they have on this album alot kind of annoy me

  • i wonder what's paul's singing technique (especially in the re-traced song "integral"). is he using head voice, mix. it always looks so easy, when i try to reach these notes i strain like a motherfucker; if i use headvoice it sounds either too airy, or too pinchy

  • @kalorette Speaking of which..why the fuck can't I find the acoustic studio version on here?

  • @kalorette I can get pretty close to his voice with my chest voice, work on your range, once you get it, just let a lot of air out, gives kind of a soothing tone.

  • @2moonsrock it'd be a whole lot easier with one of those tc electronic boxes they use...

  • @brownfield Ahah ! Definitely. Give a try to the Re-Traced EP if you feel frustrated about that.
