Wouldn't it just be easier to hollow out part of the first half of the brain, fill it full of the liquid, then cover that over with the rest of the mixture? You would still get the gushing effect without the checking hazard.
@ghostexorcist i was thinking the exact same thing. but do you think the rest of the mixture would sit on top of the corn syrup? or would that blend? 'cause if it blends, it may not bleed very well.. :\
@nge484 First, you could fill the brain mold full and wait for it to set. Second, take an injector with a long nozzle and suck out a hollow in the center. Third, back fill the hollow with the syrup. Fourth, take some of the brain bits you sucked out and fill the hole left by the injector.
I've never actually done any of this stuff, but it seems sound. I'd rather try it than risk the chance of a piece of plastic bag getting stuck in my throat.

The frozen blood will eventually thaw in your fridge but it will be contained in middle of gelatin. So you won't have plastic inside your brain (never a good thing) and when you cut the brain the blood will flow more easily.
For extra grossness color angel hair pasta blue. Apply to sides of mold. Instant veins!
I am wondering if you could do it without the bplastic bag? Like, if you poured it in three layers, one to leave the foundation, then another with an object in the way to make a pocket, then remove that object and fill it with bloodand then a final layer to cover it. I think that you could keep the jello from mixing with the blood too much on the final layer if you poured from the outside in a circular fashion and let it flow in itself and cover the pocket.
