Impressive to see how these guys really worth the mic! I play in a Bluegrass band and we perform primarily single mic. These guys make it look sooooo easy!!!
I like it...do you have a cd? I would be interested in purchasing a copy..hard to find pure music anymore...johnrhancocksr@yahoo.com..email me with particulars.
First heard this song on the "Andy Griffith" show by Briscoe Darling, and his clan; followed by Flatt and Scruggs on the "Beverly Hillbillies". Been a fan of Bluegrass ever since. First time I've heard this group. These guys have SOUL!!
i've seen this guy Karl Shiflett a few times. He tours a lot in the midwest. He really has bluegrass in his blood. For many years he has taken young pickers and brought them along on the road performing in the old school tradition. He is just a pleasure to watch and be around. He probably is my favorite person to watch live do bluegrass.
Why are you mentioning drums? Who said anything about a drum? Is that the only instrument out of Africa you know about? Have you heard West African music before? Know any West African traditional instruments besides a drum? Do you really know what Celtic traditional music sounds like?
Your statement displays much ignorance to all of the questions above.
First the ignroance by bringing drums into this, now "bush". You've only taken the ignorant road, not a high one. Bush? Do you know what half of West Africa is? Just one ignorant statement after another.
I've heard traditional Celtic music. I've heard the many forms of traditional West African music. This music is spurned from Sahelian West Africa. Cant help it if that offends you.
Talking in stereotypical terms by bringing in the "bush" and drums is akin to namecalling. If you want the father of the banjo, it's not a West African native, it's West African civilizations, and it's name is the ngoni or xalam. Same with the fiddle, it's name is the ritti or gonjey. You can visit my page to educate yourself or do your own research. This music has nothing to do with bagpipes nor is it played in the same tone and tempo as that of stringed Celts or Scots.
Yet you cannot find this music in european ancestry, but you can in West Africa to this very day. Music does not sprout up out of nothing in a few short decades or even a few centuries. You have some other issue, and it's obvious its about race, not the origin of this music.
I will now do my duty to avoid fools who refuse to learn. They should be avoided like the plague according to Ethiopian philosophy. Good day.
@HillbillyPicknBoogie I think you'll find it to be a vintage RCA mic. tried to piost website for you but error. just google vintage RCA mic. it should pop up.
@jarmbru . Zeke Morris...the origins: ""I got the idea when we went to a little old honky tonk just outside of Canton. We got in there after the show and got to drinking that beer and playing the slot machines with nickels, dimes and quarters. I think we hit three or four jackpots. The name of that place was the Salty Dog, and that's where I got the idea for the song.
