dam man chill. look i love jay-z, dont get me wrong, i probably have more of his music on my iTunes than any other single artist. BUT

1) Rakim brought in internal ryhme to rap. Look at this line from Jay-Z's Fellin' It

"I keep it realer than most I know your feelin it/Cristal on ice I like to toast I keep on spillin it"

classic Jay-Z style, but it was developed by Rakim, he was doing that way before Jay was, and if Jay didnt get that from him,

Right there, he says AT HIS PRIME he is comparable to Rakim.

2) Dre's flow is basic. I wont argue against that, and yeah he uses ghost writers, but the amount of artist he has produced and brought up, hell, producing Eminem ALONE is a big contribution to rap as he was the first white rapper who actually has respect within the hip-hop community,

and has achieved the ridiculous sucess he has. besides him,Dre produced Snoop Dogg who is easily one of the most internationally well known rappers. Dre has produced tons of other succesful musicians, not just rappers. More than just producing people, Dre was part of the group that basically invented gangsta rap. NWA changed rap forever, for good or bad, it definately chnaged rap.

3) Wu-Tang brought rap back from the West Coast G-Funk movement that Dre and Snoop created, and brought in that gritty real, anti pop, top of the charts bull. the RZA changed the way that the instrumentals behind the lyrics sound. in an interview with Scratch magazine Kanye West said this "Wu-Tang? Me and my friends talk about this all the time... We think Wu-Tang had one of the biggest impacts as far as a movement.
