I've seen Chicago onstage 7 times now and I think these two were the most all round talented Roxie and Velma I've ever seen. Both outstanding. Using there is weak link (the stunt casting of Roxie usually)

Yes, completely. "Phoned-in" average performance as far as I was concerned. I guess all the other strong leads, including the great Jasna Ivir just show him up somewhat!

@DistantCousin I saw him on the Weakest Link West End special. He wouldn't sing for Anne Robinson, he just kind of spoke-sang. I know he's been on the telly but he's hardly a box office star.

I've heard Ruthie's ex, Tim Howar, is a great singer. Perhaps he'll play Billy Flynn at some point.
