@SirGeorge8600, a feminine persona does not, as a direct consequence, make historic archetypes of masculinity "gay". Unless this comment comes from someone whose low level of testosterone prods him belittle what suddenly emasculates him.
@MrLadrocuori , Dorians are 100% Greek, in fact they spoke the purest Greek dialect. The population of modern Greece are the descendants of Greek-speaking Byzantines who survived the Ottoman empire. What are Albanians today? Their language is 60% from other languages (Latin, Greek, Slavic, Italian), 30-40% of them work in Italy and Greece to send money to Albania, 50% of Albania's GNP comes from 'unreported sources' (drugs, prostitution, narcotics, weapon smuggling).
remember one thing Pelasgians are the Illyrians are the albanias and also written in the history of the pelasgians Illyrian language and the language oldest that existed in Europe Greek language is adopted with the language of illyrians grecia she is hellenic mongolian;P albania ar 100% illirians culture language
@MrLadrocuori, Pelasgian are non-Caucasian people, who did not speak an Indo-European language, who lived exclusively around the Aegean sea, in the neolithic period (4000-2000 BC). Illyrians are a Caucasian people, who spoke an Indo-European language, who lived on the shore of the Adriatic sea. Albanians today want to claim they are pelasgians so they can claim the pre-history and by extension, the entire history of Greece. The truth is Albania has very little recorded history
Actually I tracked down the Illyrians and they descended from Troy upon it's destruction (a Ionian Hellenic city). Further more, the Thracians are related to the Ionian Hellenes, coming to the area around 2000 BC. If we look to the Pelasgian origins, we'll find that they descended from Crete, where they neighbored the Dorians, just like in the Balkans.
Stating that Illyrians are from the Adriatic sea is true, but their origins are Hellenic. Same case for Romans.
@shockolanu , I disagree. The Illyrians originate from a mixture of Celts with Thracians. Their homeland was were Bosnia is today. Illyrians conquered Paeonia, who according to Herodotus were Trojans (thus Dardanian). Thracians and Greeks share a common origin, but they parted ways 4000 years ago, when Greeks encountered Pelasgians, and Thracians stayed "pure"
I too tended to believe the same thing for a very long time. The Celtic influences are from people such as the Boii whom resided West of the Thracians. In origins, the Dardanians were an Illyrian tribe and they originated from the ones whom fled Troy upon it's destruction by the Hellenes.
Yes, same origin different cultural paths.
I might also remind you that the Roman emperors claimed to have originated from Troy (Illyum). Thus the similar name of Illyrians...
@shockolanu, yes the Romans claimed to come from the Trojans, but Ilium and Illyria are not related. Illyrius was the son of Cadmus the phoenician, who settled in the adriatic. According to the Albanians, ilyr means free, so they claim Illyrian is actually one of their words. There were no Illyrians in the war of troy however.
I think the appearance of the Illyrians in the Balkans coincides too much with the fall of Troy.
I would like to point out the fact that Illyrians did not have an alphabet, while the Phoenicians had one. Wouldn't they have brought the Phoenician alphabet to the area too?
Lads, what do you think about the fact that the most powerful civilizations in History originate from the mediterranean area, not from Nordic areas, even if nordic people had also very interesting civilization and craftsmen...? Isn't time to stop any form of crypto-racism, in one way or another...
@Yanitsaros True, there are often variations of hair color in any racial type, especially in areas having experienced large amounts of population movements. But my point still stands.
@BadBlueBoy213 Muslims are pussy ass cowards, a quick military history of conflics of Christendom vs Islam shows this, they love to attack the defenseless (aka women, children, elderly), they use death or conversion to entice the victim to join their allah of kaba stone worshiping religion. As history shows we Europeans prefer to die than convert to that shit spawn of arabian nomad religion.
@TheBaronofBallstein Be careful. There are Muslims who serve in the American armed forces. Most Americans can't agree with you on this otherwise why should we have helped the Iraquis, most of whom are Muslim, overthrow Hussein? They don't worship the kabba stone. They worship Allah and the stone is a symbolic representation of their faith, as icons and other relics serve a similar purpose in other religions, including Christian ones.
@Dondragmer Yes friend, I can agree with you on many points, regarding the use of the word Xathos in modern Greek it means blond, in ancient it means fair, take it as you wish light brown or dirty blond. Blondism exists everywhere but to a less degree, we know it is most dominant in those of North European ancestry. Now there are various theories of anthropologist that explain that it does pop out randomly in groups unrelated to nordics. As you mentioned in your posts.
@Dondragmer What we are trying to say is that because there were 3-4 light haired Greeks whose hair color survives only in description that does not automaticaly link Greeks with Nordics. Regardless of the fact that we share the same continent. There are those indigenous to Greece, those who originated north and migrated south and by north anthropoligists have shown the regions of former Yugoslavia, and those who came from the North East. All these groups had a similar language & religion.
@Dondragmer In modern Greece there are more blonds I believe than in ancient times, due to the medieval times when our Byzantine Empire (already a mix of mainly Greeks-Romans and small other minorities) accepted Nordics who became Orthodox and Hellenised to serve in the army, imperial guard Varangians like the Rus & Vikings. There were also migrations of AngloSaxons who fleed the Norman conquest and were granted settlement in Greece. If you read the chronicles they say about 1000 ships.
@TheBaronofBallstein That's very true. Ancient Hellenes were olive-to-brown skinned and dark haired; this is confirmed by Minoan and Mycenaean frescoes and later pottery. It's only because of the statues that people think ancient Greek were Nordic; the statues just represent an ideal of symmetrical beauty, not the actual skin tone of the Greeks. Anyone who claims ancient Greeks were Nordic is clearly a racist in disguise.
@Dondragmer Blondism in modern Greece is more common due to the middle ages. Ex, my grandmother was the only blond blue eyed in her family. I am very lucky I can trace my family by Venetian records in Crete dating to the early 1600's no further, (turkish administration was a chaos) there has been no foreign admixture, when my ancestors were chased out of Crete by the turks in 1827 I have no records, until 1912 by Italian records, there is a name change and names are handed down oraly in this gap
@Yanitsaros .When I visited Karpathos one of the local people said to me that they were UNA FACA,UNA RASA with the Italians. And I saw they all liked Italian people although they were conquered by Italy in WW2
Come to think of it, even if I were obsessed with spelling, why should that be considered bad and to be derided any more than any other obsession, such as with art, cars, guns, grammar, religion, mythology, any subject, as long as it is not excessively detrimental? Many people seem obsessed with insulting others' opinions with boring and cliched obscenities, which is a far more harmful obsession (not meaning you, pippy02). OK, I've bored everyone enough; but no one has to read my comments.
ok Don point taken!, back to the vid my folks come from Kos and I consider myself a Dorian Greek :-), Yanitsare have you studied the Dorians? were they fair? (I'm quite fair) just curious!
Pippy, I just looked at some pics of Kos and that is one beautiful island. Is Hippocrates' birthplace precisely known? You say you are fair. Does that mean, if Dorians were fair, that they likely were descended from immigrants who were pale northern peoples, like Gallic, Germanic, or even Scandinavians? I realize these ethnic terms are really applied to later (Roman era and later) peoples, but I just mean the places where those ethnics originated.
@Dondragmer Greece is a mix of ancient ethnic groups that were related to each other. Each race (or tribe) started migrating south into Greece at different time periods, there they mixed with certain indigenous races (Pelasgians) and others they expelled and exterminated (Leleges, Carians). The Dorians were the last Greek race to migrate south, they came from the Northern Greece (Macedonia and Epirus) and migrated south. The other races are the Acheans (see trojan war), Ionians, Aioleans. etc
@Dondragmer Those of the Dorian race who stayed behind formed the tribe of the Macedonians, those who migrated South formed the Corinthians, the Cretans (mix of Dorians, Acheans and other Greek races) the Spartans (the Spartans of the Achean race, took part in the Trojan war, the Dorians expelled them when they arived in Sparta and formed ancient Sparta as we know it a Doric state) and they migrated to the South Eastern Aegean (the Dodecanesse islands) where they formed the Doric hexapolis.
@Dondragmer In Greek mythology each of Hellen's (from where the name Hellenes (Greeks) comes) sons founded a primary tribe (or race) of Greece: Aeolus the Aeolians, Dorus the Dorians and Xuthus the Achaeans (from Xuthus's son Achaeus) and Ionians (from Xuthus's son Ionas).
@Dondragmer Ancient Greeks write the word fair they mean light brown, there were no blonds in Ancient Greece. That is a myth that originated in Germany in the late 1800's in order to serve their purpose of putting the Germanic race in the center. This is false. Nordic phenotypes are found only North. Greeks have mediterranean phenotypes. Alexander, Achilles were both fair (light brown) not blond. Homer states that the Achaeans had brown curly hair and out of these Achilles was the fairest.
@TheBaronofBallstein Thanks for all the info; I appreciate your research. But I am not convinced the myth of ancient Greek blonds was originated by late 19th century Germans. I think that idea goes back much further. Also, you don't have to be Nordic to be blond. And many Nordics are not blond. Are you sure the Greek word for fair means only "light brown?" In English fair, when applied to hair color, can also mean blond (at least dark or dirty blond) or light red (or "strawberry" blond.
@Dondragmer I cannot have respect for the descendents of these people, reading accounts is one thing, stumbling on a mass grave created by their ancestors is an other thing. I do not have respect for these people, never had and never will. I know islam, but as they accuse us of "idol worshiping" our icons, I accuse them of the same. At least we didnt worship a stone named "allah" at first amongst other idols then abolished all other idols and turnined "allah" into a monotheistic religion.
@TheBaronofBallstein Also I am not certain we can know absolutely that Alexander was not blond. Blondness is usually a recessive phenotype that though very common in some ethnic groups such as Nordics and Celtics, can actually crop up at random in any group, even blacks or australoids. Aboriginal Australians are blond when very young. Maybe Alexander was "dirty" blond. I am dark-haired and eyed though my Dad had golden-brown hair and pale blue-grey eyes; my brothers and I are like my Mom.
@Dondragmer Regarding muslims, in Europe the memories of the era of the Crusades, the Byzantine Arab wars, the fall of Constantinople, the Saracen pirates etc are still not forgoten. I use to work with the Byzantine archeological department (before I was laid off) for my area, and we have excavated two mass graves belonging to the late middle ages, the work of Muslim pirates. Amazingly the grave from 600 years ago still smelled, severed heads where placed seperately.
By the way, pippy02, thanks for spelling my youtube moniker correctly. Lower case "d" at beginning is acceptable. So why is bad spelling so rampant on the internet? Or is it that spelling in general by so many people is bad in any media and the internet just allows people an outlet for displaying it more often, as it allows widespread display of rude and obscene comments and insults?
Continuing theme of misspelling in reply to pippy02, I consider spelling to be a body of facts and thus do not think anyone should be offended on being corrected for mistakes in it as they would no more be hurt by being corrected on any other kinds of facts. Thus I consider the two thumbs downs I got for my comment on this subject to be misguided. Would I have been down-thumbed if I had corrected someone on a date or some other fact like location or author? I doubt it.
No, not the police. Just someone brought up on the value of good spelling. (By the way it is "what's," not "whats." ) If I was a spelling policeman I'd be on the internet constantly battling all these misspellings, a futile exercise. I am not obsessed with spelling. I am far more interested in discussing opinions and facts, which I spend most of my webtime in. I wonder why people get offended when spelling is corrected as it is no more offensive than being corrected on facts.
You know, Jan, I watched again this video after a long time and I think it is your masterpiece, a moment of divine inspiration harnessed and channeled into the creation of true art.
Cool passion, Ancient history is my passion too. I feel that by knowing the past, you can anticipate the future. Just like the Delphi Oracle, you can gather information, put it all together and see where the course of actions and events are taking you. Of course, it's been said that this was done through very elaborate equations, to find those equations, would mean a serious leap forward!
Montreal is very cool, I have a Romanian friend living there too!
You are right, the stories were great for my intellect. I can't tell you how happy I felt when I found that Troy has been uncovered in Turkey. Then, I knew that all those stories that I used to hear, had real historical background and the stories were just a way to preserve the history. Everyone thought that the Trojan War was Homer's imagination. In fact, the stories were true!
I read Plato and I found Atlantis. You seem to know much about Ancient Greece, maybe we can discuss the location...
Yes, most myths have a historical basis. Odysseus was a real king of Ithaca (not modern day Ithaca, but modern day Kefalonia), Herakles was a king of Tyrins (in Argos), Agamemnon was a king of Mycenae (and the rest of Greece during the Trojan War), his brother Menelaos, a king of Sparta. After their death they achieve cult status as gods or children of gods. Gosh I love being Greek!
You know, when I was little, instead of hearing stories about Snow White, I used to go to bed listening to stories about Perseus, Heracles, Odysseus, Achilles and about Zeus, Hera and all their offsprings, that dwelt in Olympus. About the battle of Gods against Titans, etc. They always used to tell me that Heracles is my ancestor. So was Prometheus, the titan that loved the human kind and brought us the fire from Olympus, stolen from Zeus. Prometheus is said to have been buried in Argos!
Both Spartans and Macedonians come from Heracles. Mycenaean people have even more power, they are sons both of Heracles and Perseus. Also, the Thracians are said to be sons of Ares himself.
Encyclopaedia Britannica on the population of FYROM October 30, 2008
"The largest group, calling themselves 'Macedonians' (about two-thirds of the population), are descendants of Slavic tribes that moved into the region between the 6th and 8th centuries AD. Their language is very closely related to Bulgarian and is written in the Cyrillic script."
In E for instance, I'd describe it as E F G A | B C D E
"The early Christian church developed a system of eight musical modes (the octoechos), which mediaeval music scholars related to the ancient Greek modes. Misinterpreting the Latin texts of Boethius, medieval modes were given the wrong Greek names. Confusingly, the Greek Dorian mode is the same as the mediaeval and modern Phrygian mode."
Yeah but in a different key note. Its Ionian Dorian Phrygian Lydian Myxolidian Aeolian Locrain. Like E Aeolian is the same as A Dorian or B Phrigian. Its a slding scale correspondance.. I tink Ive got that right, oh well I can play it anyway :D
You are not using them as a lesson, you just use them to swank! I would personally get ashamed even to use the achievements of my own father to distinguish myself, since I have nothing to do with them. But you see no problem to swank with the achievements of your dubiously assumed ancestors from 2500 years ago. Apart from all of that, the Greek culture today is very very different than the one in Ancient Greek. Before the Katharevousa reform, you had tons of Turkish word in Greek.
shut up you dumb savage idiot go back to mongolia where you orignate ofcourse along the way you mixed with every reject imaginable no go post elsewhere.
Yanitsaros, the questions are also for you! I think, what you are doing here is mental masturbation. Go accomplish something yourself and be proud of that! Not of the merits, which would have been made by your very dubiously assumed ancestors from 2500 years ago!
pippy02, you are a shame for any educated Greek person. If you are so keen about races and genetics, go read about haplotypes of modern Greek population and compare them with that of middle easterners and even Ethiopians.
Then answer this question: can you understand Ancient Greek? I personally do! If not, then tell me, translations of which great works of Ancient Greek have you ever read?
a savage can understand Classical Greek? aaahahaaaa so I suppose that makes you a Hellene? what a moron you are. It does not matter what you have a learned or what you know you will always be a barbarian and that is no lie. (SCUM)
Who says that I want to be Greek in learning Ancient Greek? That is how your racist "logic" works. I am very fond of being Turkish. You can't even build two sentences without putting an insult into it, and you talk about savages and barbarians. Anybody who reads this correspondence will realize easily which one of us is a savage. ;) You must have a real problem with your self-esteem, get professional help.
slowly but surely Europe will suffer the same fate if nothing gets done about it, these people and their backward religion is spreading like a cancer and those treacherous bastards (governments) are handing Europe over to these savages on a platter. The albos need to go as well (back to their homeland the east) anyone that doesnt have 100% Euro ancestry needs to GO!
that doesnt make them kin, or civilised, look what they're doing to our countries turning them into 3rd world hell holes, that is what my concern is the future for our children doesnt look too good. 14 WORDS.
no I just tell it how it is, these people have no connection to our people we Europeans they're middle easterners quite a huge difference arabs are mixed semitic/arab they're cousins and the fact that they hate each other is quite hilarious.
you're a moron most arabs are, arabs are ugly middle easterners their facial and bone structure is totally differently to ours (Greeks) go study alittle before opening your mouth. arabs=raghead middle easterners Greek =European everything that it beautiful.
all of you subhuman barbarians can kiss our Greek butts :-) Greece is the diamond on the map all that is beautiful came from Greece and Greeks NO-ONE can ever compare WE ARE THE MASTER RACE. Whatever you barbs say is of no importance dont ever forget that yous owe us yous owe us big time. ZHTO H ELLADARA
ofcourse they wait in line like the beggars and lyches that they are they all spondge of whitey, but not for long not for long folks, his dad is a goat herder and his mum cleans toilet bowls how degrading what else could you expect from these ugly uneducated retards called albanians.
baty I suggest you go back to kindy cause your spelling is atrocious, do they even have schools where you come from? what can one expect from a goatherder????.re ton foukara, exei kai moutra kai milai kioulas, poli gelio.
For the sake of the historic truth you should write it as it is and not so, that one should think the famous "yanitsaren" were only greek!BTW the song in the video is great, allthough I don´t know the meaning.
Yani, every man should loves his country! And I am sure you love your country justlike I love mine! I know that and I respect it! By the way in your channel you have written that yanitsaren were recruited in Greece! We both know that yanitsaren were recruited in Serbia, Albania, Bulgaria and Greece! Regards!
I will tell you why the Illyrians did not have a single historian
The answer lies in the prologue of Herodotus, the first historian ever. He says that he wrote his histories so that the memorable achievements of Greeks and barbarians would never been forgotten. It is clear that the great events that oocured in his era as well as the astonishing monuments he visited while traveling had urged his spirit into that direction
The Illyrians on the other hand were a primitive race of sheep molestors living in mud huts and occasionaly being ruled by a pitty chieftain
Having no civilisation of their own and living isolated from the rest of the world in their mountainous shitholes they obviously felt no need record their deeds; nor would they know anything about the acheivements of their contemporaries
In order for a debate to be held there has to be a dispute. The greek nature and character of the Dorians and the Epirotans is very well documented and universally accepted. Claiming that they were Albanians bears equal merit with arguing that the core of the earth consists of strawberry marmelade. You can't have your debate over that
As for whose alphabet is the word using, the latin alphabet is a direct descendant(the capital letters are exactly the same) of the west greek alphabet that Cumae and Chalkis spread to the Italic people through their colonies in Magna Grecia.
For this reason it is very easy for us to learn latin based languages, even though in Greece the ionian alphabet was standarized as the official alphabet as early as 5th cent BC due to the Athenian dominance
I find it extremely amusing that the Albanians have the nerve to call someone else gypsy(or is it they haven't introduced mirrors in Albania yet?)
They are ugly and square-faced mongrels, short because of malnutrition, dark because of working in the fields all day, stinky because they can't afford new clothes, stupid because they left school to become peasants and prone to propaganda because they never read a book in their life
they left school to become peasants? I've always known they were born peasants, I hope one day soon they all get kicked out of europe, along with every other foreighner that doesnt belong there.
Albanians arent even 'white' they are mongrels. Im a Dorian Greek from Kos! :-) albanian take a running leap, your country is worthless, ZHTO H ELLAS!!!!!!!
why is it that greeks cant even speak thier own mother tongue but a few thousand albanians can, greeks always say albanians arent civilized, why is it that albanians can speak any language, but greeks and serbs fumble thier own annunciations to thier own language rofl fukn gypsie greeks
why is it that greeks cant even speak thier own mother tongue but a few thousand albanians can, greeks always say albanians arent civilized, why is it that albanians can speak any language, but greeks and serbs fumble thier own annunciations to thier own language rofl fukn gypsie greeks
Let's assume for the sake of the argument that this crap is not regurgitated only by a handful of Albanians who watched a couple Twinsflamouri videos and think they learned history. Let's ignore the complete lack of evidence to suggest such a case. Let's overlook the non-compatibility of timelines between the flourishing and the fall of Troy and the emergence of the Illyrians in history. Let us just use our common sense
How possible is that a race of mountainous goat-herders and primtive peasants lacking the know-how to construct fishing boats and being totally unable to found a noteworthy city even within their own territories, people who never established any colonies in their history, suddenly decided and managed to overcome/outmanouver/fight through the Paeonians,Greeks and Thracians standing between them and western Anatolia and founded a city that became the greatest commercial hub of the Aegean?
Do you know how Illyrian sounds so that you know that I'm showing you no connection with Illyrian?
I don't even know how Illyrian sounds. Whatever little words were discovered through kings, toponyms, scripts relate to Albanian words and they make sense and fit the history... nothing more.
Albanian words of 1912 are 100% as today, just accented differently. I have to be very careful when listening. Something like Shakespeare English (not great example but works).
But so do some Doric words. And let me add that Doric words that we know of are LATE Doric. How bout thousands of years of unwritten dialects of Doric, before it appears in writing?
Regarding learning Dorian... there's early Dorian, and later Dorian... which one do you learn? The one closer to Greek? Either way... They might even be speaking pure Greek, but called it Doric. Even if it's dialect it would have been wrong to call it Doric, for we don't know what it is meant by Doric Greek... Greek language Influenced by Dorian Language? Dorian language was Greek but influenced greatly by others and still called Dorian?.... these are all theories.
On Herodotus map you have only Illyrians. On some other maps, you have only Ellines (Ellinians?).
We are the same people, but Ellines in the south have had a great deal of Eastern influence... You think they were able to guard those wide shores they owned and everybody envied? Persians, Sea Peoples, Phoenicians, Egyptians, Far East merchants, Ethiopians, ... ?
You DO know that the Byzantine empire was created by Constantin the Illyrian, dont you?
You DO know that the two-headed eagle was present in the Roman empire and that Constantin introduced it to the byzantine empire(eastern roman), dont you?
Yanitsare, did you know that the Illiad was sung by the Illyrians in memory of their heroic Dradanian(!?) ancestors? Yep that's right. And then Greeks came in,translated the Illyrian verses and usurped the dardanian achievements as their own! The original Illyrian poems were lost and that sneaky thief Homer gained all the fame! LMFAO
And Homer was not Greek, because Homer in cumean means blind,so how could he be Greek if he was Cumean? Is Cume a city in the greek island of Euboea? No,it's not
I love it when the Albanians try to enforce the names of the ancient greek gods into albanian norms. Example: Aphrodite-albanian etymology: "the day after" As if she was not a goddess but an anti-pregnancy pill ROTFL!
And since they ignore that these names have already a meaning in greek they come to youtube to spread their discovery with the enthousiasm that Archimedes had when was shouting Eureka. They are so retarded but you can't pitty them because they are fucking hilarious!:)
There is no doubt that the Illyrian were the most retarded people of the ancient times. There is no evidence than in all their years of existence they ever achieved anything noteworthy. Apart from posing alive training targets for greek spears and roman pilla. On a second thought,
the Albanian-Illyrian connection makes great sense,LMFAO!
But I don't see where we Greeks and the Pelasgians fit in
It's funny that the Albanians who can't even present an undisputed link to the Illyrians, whose language is an amalgam of greek, turkish, slavic and illyrian words indulge into conspiracy theories and absurd historical claims trying to merge Pelasgians,Illyrians,Greeks and Thracians into one group and link it to themselves. That's the advantage of not having any recorded history prior to 1500. No wonder youtube is full of videos about the "hidden"/"true"/"secret" Albanian history LMFAO
I think "Natinoalism" comes from your direction. I'm just telling you that we're the only free indigenous people of the balkans true to our natural identity, and that is exactly what we are trying to protect from the Orthodox Anatolian movement of the South.
And the so-called-Greece of today is claiming other lands based on the name of its state. This is the exact reason Macedonia wants to be called Macedonia, because once claimed so, they can claim parts of Greece, all the way to Salonika.
As for the Aegis, the theme-word you presented for Αιγίμιος could not have any relation with the Dorians, because the theme you presented comes from the Mycenaean language. Consequently they have no relation.
You didnt prove anything as long as I allowed your comments. One of your last comments was that Skylax is not important enough. You said that Strabo shouldnt be taken into consideration regarding the Pelasgian racial relation with the Illyrians. You didnt disprove any of my citations (Appianus, Aristoteles etc.).
And you asked me to comment in your video but then you erased my comments.
My friend.. there's scholars and scholars like you.
let's be honest. I'm a classical musician.. I can't even count the instruments that I play cuz they pile up every day.. done my liceum in Italy, Turkey, Moscow, and New York... have studied canto and come from a family of composers and prime ballet dancers... now you're telling me of this Muller. Fuck him. As far as I'm concerned neither Freud was a scholar.
Every scholar bases his thesis in unrealistic assumptions.
you're a classical musician? you dumbarse what connection do you have with 'classics' you're people are nothing but illiterate savages and thieves stop with your lies.
I would read it, but just that quote tells me i'd be wasting my time. Even if it actually did originate in Crete, Kritika doesn't sound like it should at all. Today it's influenced by so many eastern cultures that you cannot find how it even sounded 500 years ago.
However, if it really was pentatonic 4000 years ago, there's a chance that it might have been influenced by the Ancient Ethopians (which at the time all Africa was called so).
Beautifully presented video just under 4 minutes, accompanied with lovely music. The paintings by Jacques-Louis David just give it the wonderful touches.Thank you for posting.
Let's just wait until the Albanian theories come out, for they have been missing so far. What's the rush of basing your conclusions on a bunch of theories that have not been thoroughly challenged?
Read some early Doric scripts and compare them to Albanian.
btw... Dëru means wood in Albanian... Taru in Hittite, Dru in Sanskrit, Taru in Thracian.
Albanians are not only Illyrians, but Thraco-Illyrians, and Ancient Greeks too.
Therefore, every population that has resisted the Eastern Orthodox movement, that are not here to discover history but use it towards their own gain and power.
Languages were related but different by region and tribe back then, and that's how we want to keep it. No reason to adopt a language that the NeoHellens have made up in their monasteries.
We're naturally evolved. We're still the wild tribes and will always be.
Alright I subscribed! You are totally on the right track with this channel. Hellas Forever!

Thus the similar name of Illyrians...
shockolanu 2 months ago
@shockolanu, yes the Romans claimed to come from the Trojans, but Ilium and Illyria are not related. Illyrius was the son of Cadmus the phoenician, who settled in the adriatic. According to the Albanians, ilyr means free, so they claim Illyrian is actually one of their words. There were no Illyrians in the war of troy however.
Yanitsaros 2 months ago
@Yanitsaros
I think the appearance of the Illyrians in the Balkans coincides too much with the fall of Troy.
I would like to point out the fact that Illyrians did not have an alphabet, while the Phoenicians had one. Wouldn't they have brought the Phoenician alphabet to the area too?

@BadBlueBoy213 Muslims are pussy ass cowards, a quick military history of conflics of Christendom vs Islam shows this, they love to attack the defenseless (aka women, children, elderly), they use death or conversion to entice the victim to join their allah of kaba stone worshiping religion. As history shows we Europeans prefer to die than convert to that shit spawn of arabian nomad religion.
TheBaronofBallstein 1 year ago
@TheBaronofBallstein Be careful. There are Muslims who serve in the American armed forces. Most Americans can't agree with you on this otherwise why should we have helped the Iraquis, most of whom are Muslim, overthrow Hussein? They don't worship the kabba stone. They worship Allah and the stone is a symbolic representation of their faith, as icons and other relics serve a similar purpose in other religions, including Christian ones.
Dondragmer 1 year ago
@Dondragmer Yes friend, I can agree with you on many points, regarding the use of the word Xathos in modern Greek it means blond, in ancient it means fair, take it as you wish light brown or dirty blond. Blondism exists everywhere but to a less degree, we know it is most dominant in those of North European ancestry. Now there are various theories of anthropologist that explain that it does pop out randomly in groups unrelated to nordics. As you mentioned in your posts.
TheBaronofBallstein 1 year ago
@Dondragmer What we are trying to say is that because there were 3-4 light haired Greeks whose hair color survives only in description that does not automaticaly link Greeks with Nordics. Regardless of the fact that we share the same continent. There are those indigenous to Greece, those who originated north and migrated south and by north anthropoligists have shown the regions of former Yugoslavia, and those who came from the North East. All these groups had a similar language & religion.
TheBaronofBallstein 1 year ago
@Dondragmer In modern Greece there are more blonds I believe than in ancient times, due to the medieval times when our Byzantine Empire (already a mix of mainly Greeks-Romans and small other minorities) accepted Nordics who became Orthodox and Hellenised to serve in the army, imperial guard Varangians like the Rus & Vikings. There were also migrations of AngloSaxons who fleed the Norman conquest and were granted settlement in Greece. If you read the chronicles they say about 1000 ships.
TheBaronofBallstein 1 year ago
@TheBaronofBallstein That's very true. Ancient Hellenes were olive-to-brown skinned and dark haired; this is confirmed by Minoan and Mycenaean frescoes and later pottery. It's only because of the statues that people think ancient Greek were Nordic; the statues just represent an ideal of symmetrical beauty, not the actual skin tone of the Greeks. Anyone who claims ancient Greeks were Nordic is clearly a racist in disguise.
TheChuchulainn 1 year ago
@Dondragmer Blondism in modern Greece is more common due to the middle ages. Ex, my grandmother was the only blond blue eyed in her family. I am very lucky I can trace my family by Venetian records in Crete dating to the early 1600's no further, (turkish administration was a chaos) there has been no foreign admixture, when my ancestors were chased out of Crete by the turks in 1827 I have no records, until 1912 by Italian records, there is a name change and names are handed down oraly in this gap

Dondragmer 2 years ago
ok Don point taken!, back to the vid my folks come from Kos and I consider myself a Dorian Greek :-), Yanitsare have you studied the Dorians? were they fair? (I'm quite fair) just curious!
pippy02 2 years ago
Pippy, I just looked at some pics of Kos and that is one beautiful island. Is Hippocrates' birthplace precisely known? You say you are fair. Does that mean, if Dorians were fair, that they likely were descended from immigrants who were pale northern peoples, like Gallic, Germanic, or even Scandinavians? I realize these ethnic terms are really applied to later (Roman era and later) peoples, but I just mean the places where those ethnics originated.
Dondragmer 2 years ago
not sure Don werent the Dorians Greek? Yanitsare might be able to help.
pippy02 2 years ago
@Dondragmer Greece is a mix of ancient ethnic groups that were related to each other. Each race (or tribe) started migrating south into Greece at different time periods, there they mixed with certain indigenous races (Pelasgians) and others they expelled and exterminated (Leleges, Carians). The Dorians were the last Greek race to migrate south, they came from the Northern Greece (Macedonia and Epirus) and migrated south. The other races are the Acheans (see trojan war), Ionians, Aioleans. etc
TheBaronofBallstein 1 year ago
@Dondragmer Those of the Dorian race who stayed behind formed the tribe of the Macedonians, those who migrated South formed the Corinthians, the Cretans (mix of Dorians, Acheans and other Greek races) the Spartans (the Spartans of the Achean race, took part in the Trojan war, the Dorians expelled them when they arived in Sparta and formed ancient Sparta as we know it a Doric state) and they migrated to the South Eastern Aegean (the Dodecanesse islands) where they formed the Doric hexapolis.
TheBaronofBallstein 1 year ago
@Dondragmer In Greek mythology each of Hellen's (from where the name Hellenes (Greeks) comes) sons founded a primary tribe (or race) of Greece: Aeolus the Aeolians, Dorus the Dorians and Xuthus the Achaeans (from Xuthus's son Achaeus) and Ionians (from Xuthus's son Ionas).
TheBaronofBallstein 1 year ago
@Dondragmer Ancient Greeks write the word fair they mean light brown, there were no blonds in Ancient Greece. That is a myth that originated in Germany in the late 1800's in order to serve their purpose of putting the Germanic race in the center. This is false. Nordic phenotypes are found only North. Greeks have mediterranean phenotypes. Alexander, Achilles were both fair (light brown) not blond. Homer states that the Achaeans had brown curly hair and out of these Achilles was the fairest.
TheBaronofBallstein 1 year ago
@TheBaronofBallstein Thanks for all the info; I appreciate your research. But I am not convinced the myth of ancient Greek blonds was originated by late 19th century Germans. I think that idea goes back much further. Also, you don't have to be Nordic to be blond. And many Nordics are not blond. Are you sure the Greek word for fair means only "light brown?" In English fair, when applied to hair color, can also mean blond (at least dark or dirty blond) or light red (or "strawberry" blond.
Dondragmer 1 year ago
@Dondragmer I cannot have respect for the descendents of these people, reading accounts is one thing, stumbling on a mass grave created by their ancestors is an other thing. I do not have respect for these people, never had and never will. I know islam, but as they accuse us of "idol worshiping" our icons, I accuse them of the same. At least we didnt worship a stone named "allah" at first amongst other idols then abolished all other idols and turnined "allah" into a monotheistic religion.
TheBaronofBallstein 1 year ago
@TheBaronofBallstein Also I am not certain we can know absolutely that Alexander was not blond. Blondness is usually a recessive phenotype that though very common in some ethnic groups such as Nordics and Celtics, can actually crop up at random in any group, even blacks or australoids. Aboriginal Australians are blond when very young. Maybe Alexander was "dirty" blond. I am dark-haired and eyed though my Dad had golden-brown hair and pale blue-grey eyes; my brothers and I are like my Mom.
Dondragmer 1 year ago
@Dondragmer Regarding muslims, in Europe the memories of the era of the Crusades, the Byzantine Arab wars, the fall of Constantinople, the Saracen pirates etc are still not forgoten. I use to work with the Byzantine archeological department (before I was laid off) for my area, and we have excavated two mass graves belonging to the late middle ages, the work of Muslim pirates. Amazingly the grave from 600 years ago still smelled, severed heads where placed seperately.
TheBaronofBallstein 1 year ago
By the way, pippy02, thanks for spelling my youtube moniker correctly. Lower case "d" at beginning is acceptable. So why is bad spelling so rampant on the internet? Or is it that spelling in general by so many people is bad in any media and the internet just allows people an outlet for displaying it more often, as it allows widespread display of rude and obscene comments and insults?
Dondragmer 2 years ago

Don't worry, Canada, will not fall easy!

You seem to know much about Ancient Greece, maybe we can discuss the location...
shockolanu 2 years ago

I was wondering if there are sources. It sounds familiar but I have no background in Greek literature. I hoped you could help:
-In particular, you are referring to Hercules (1.07): [pain makes man stronger]. Is there a poem/epos? Expressing these values?
-At (3.28) the masks (remember-the dead): Is this a local dance or is it a common dance for Greece?
-The drive for perfection: [making perfect]. Is this specific for Macedonia/Hellenism;
I was hoping there are poems or stories. Kind regards

I will tell you why the Illyrians did not have a single historian
The answer lies in the prologue of Herodotus, the first historian ever. He says that he wrote his histories so that the memorable achievements of Greeks and barbarians would never been forgotten. It is clear that the great events that oocured in his era as well as the astonishing monuments he visited while traveling had urged his spirit into that direction
the5thillusion 4 years ago
The Illyrians on the other hand were a primitive race of sheep molestors living in mud huts and occasionaly being ruled by a pitty chieftain
Having no civilisation of their own and living isolated from the rest of the world in their mountainous shitholes they obviously felt no need record their deeds; nor would they know anything about the acheivements of their contemporaries
Hence they never produced a single historian
the5thillusion 4 years ago

I don't even know how Illyrian sounds. Whatever little words were discovered through kings, toponyms, scripts relate to Albanian words and they make sense and fit the history... nothing more.
Albanian words of 1912 are 100% as today, just accented differently. I have to be very careful when listening. Something like Shakespeare English (not great example but works).

But so do some Doric words. And let me add that Doric words that we know of are LATE Doric. How bout thousands of years of unwritten dialects of Doric, before it appears in writing?
(Gr)Den einai, (Dr) Ouk Estï (Uk Estï), (Alb) N'uk Eshtë.
How bout Homeric words?
Σκυλί, Kion, Kiën
Kαι, Eide, Edhe
Πόρτα, Thera, Dera
How bout common Greek-Albanian words?
Σπίτι, Shpia
Pi (drink), Pi

Therefore... Hellen.... "EE"ellines? Yellines??
I'm not an etymologist of course, but I know this much.
Η ανάγνωση είναι καλή. Η σκέψη είναι καλύτερη!
MusicOfEpirus 4 years ago
That's exactly what I said.

Alexander spread culture. People were called Hellens after the death of Alexander.

Ok... if you keep asking me that means you don't know the answers. Who com Illyrians never wrote???
Wasn't I speaking of Phoenicians invading southern shores???
Anyway. I've had enough. Do your own research.
MusicOfEpirus 4 years ago
Ya.. they were the only ones in the Balkans.
Yllir or Yllin or Ellin... same thing.
Let's be honest. Where does ur family comfrom?
MusicOfEpirus 4 years ago
btw... it's not even Ellines... but Yellines. That's the right way of saying it. Exactly the reason why it's written H-elen.
MusicOfEpirus 4 years ago
Coming from the Albanian/Illyrian/Ellin(ian) word.
Yelli/Jelli/Helli(os)... "Star/Sun"
All of us worshiped the Sun... (Alexander's emblem??) and that's why we are called "People of the Sun".

The byzantine dikefalos?????????????????????
You DO know that the Byzantine empire was created by Constantin the Illyrian, dont you?
You DO know that the two-headed eagle was present in the Roman empire and that Constantin introduced it to the byzantine empire(eastern roman), dont you?

They were Albanian disguised as Greeks

Anyway, let me arbitrate your dispute. Behold the true etymology of Αιγίμιος
Aegimios<Agim<Gim<Jim<Jimmy Carter
That's right. He was an American! The Dorians were Americans! Not Greeks, never Greeks!
And of Alexander:
Alexandros<Leka(huge phonetic similarities)
Ha was an Albanian!
LOLx300

Yanitsare, did you know that the Illiad was sung by the Illyrians in memory of their heroic Dradanian(!?) ancestors? Yep that's right. And then Greeks came in,translated the Illyrian verses and usurped the dardanian achievements as their own! The original Illyrian poems were lost and that sneaky thief Homer gained all the fame! LMFAO
And Homer was not Greek, because Homer in cumean means blind,so how could he be Greek if he was Cumean? Is Cume a city in the greek island of Euboea? No,it's not

you got it!!

They are so retarded but you can't pitty them because they are fucking hilarious!:)
the5thillusion 4 years ago 2
There is no doubt that the Illyrian were the most retarded people of the ancient times. There is no evidence than in all their years of existence they ever achieved anything noteworthy. Apart from posing alive training targets for greek spears and roman pilla. On a second thought,
the Albanian-Illyrian connection makes great sense,LMFAO!
But I don't see where we Greeks and the Pelasgians fit in
the5thillusion 4 years ago
Actually, the most civilized part of Illiria (Illinia as they call it - Ellinia??) was Dalmatia (region of Shkoder).
Either way. I don't think I should contribute or trigger more curiosity in you... you don't seem very neutral.
MusicOfEpirus 4 years ago
It's funny that the Albanians who can't even present an undisputed link to the Illyrians, whose language is an amalgam of greek, turkish, slavic and illyrian words indulge into conspiracy theories and absurd historical claims trying to merge Pelasgians,Illyrians,Greeks and Thracians into one group and link it to themselves. That's the advantage of not having any recorded history prior to 1500. No wonder youtube is full of videos about the "hidden"/"true"/"secret" Albanian history LMFAO

I think Agim is pretty different from Aegis.
Agim (short AGO) means sunrise.
As for Aegean sea it is just as plausible to say that it comes from Egjer (wide) or Egjeria (wild).
What's been missing since the formulation of history are Albanian historians. But now no more. Let's just be patient.
If truth is truth, let's not rush into decisions.
After all, more than half of Greece today is imported from Asia minor and has no right to claim the great deeds of Ancient Europeans (Arvanites).
MusicOfEpirus 4 years ago
I think "Natinoalism" comes from your direction. I'm just telling you that we're the only free indigenous people of the balkans true to our natural identity, and that is exactly what we are trying to protect from the Orthodox Anatolian movement of the South.
And the so-called-Greece of today is claiming other lands based on the name of its state. This is the exact reason Macedonia wants to be called Macedonia, because once claimed so, they can claim parts of Greece, all the way to Salonika.
MusicOfEpirus 4 years ago
As for the Aegis, the theme-word you presented for Αιγίμιος could not have any relation with the Dorians, because the theme you presented comes from the Mycenaean language. Consequently they have no relation.
I posted this in the comment which you erased.

Me losing from you? Do not pull my leg.
Your ignorance surprises me.

No, you're wrong dear friend.
Read about the, what your ultra nationalists in wikipedia call, "the par exellence Hellenic scale".
Only Albania sing in that scale and Çamëria of course.
MusicOfEpirus 4 years ago
So you're telling me everything is a theory?

Now if you don't mind, i got a career as well.
