Lucas is starting his second book I think and he wrote "The boy saw a comet and he felt as though his life had meaning" Peyton's car is called Comet he's obviously talking about the first time he talked to Peyton and that was when he was picking up her car in the pilot episode but Lucas is deniaing that he's talking about Peyton.
i think its a combo of and the fact that hes denyed it so much he doesnt realize that its her being a guy i know how our pride can get in the way of almost anything and can cause us to make alot of mistakes so i think that has a big factor in it as well but true love can surpass our pride and that love is leyton ^^
