does JP guitars have a floating bridge???? it looks like a fixed bridge but i saw him do pullups and dive bombs and satch scream during the chaos in motion tour of DT specially on the constant motion solo and here in this video at the ending...im confused..
@tabotabojayar No, I think he just sets it high so it can pull back. You could theoretically do it with a strat if the bridge/nut/machineheads were of a similar quality to those of the MM JP's.
This is the uploader of the video BTW (ToffeeConor), new account!
I'll agree with you going by this video...It sounds totally different (and a lot better) when it's being played in the actual song, if you haven't heard it, check it out.
there was a funny thing, a good musician (got the doctor title) told me at a workshop.
" i was playing in a pub, on the saxophone.... and then somebody came in and said: all you do is just copying bird (charlie parker - saxophone legend)...
he answered: so, now... come on stage, and you copy bird...
that i sound like the bird... the best thing i ever heard"
John petrucci... I believe thats all that needs to be said

how is it called the sound that he makes with the wammy bar in the 0:47 to 0:48??? when he hits the wammy bar
hammetto 1 year ago
@hammetto Thats a whammy bar flutter. I'm sure there's some videos covering the technique on Youtube.

@hammetto Just hit whammy bar...

@hammetto
Just hit shortly on the whammy bar. Will give this "wah!" - "wah!" - kinda effect.
Remembers me of Beavis & Butthead.

That solo's fucking amazing, he has some much skill and it sounds like there's different genres and eras in it, if that makes sense.
Thanks for the upload :)

No doubt petrucci is a great guitar player but i wouldnt make this a solo to any song, it sounds like hes just having a random wankfest
