Love the way you describe your Habitat experience. Last year I helped the seniors at my kids' school build a house... also my first time swinging a hammer.  (Literally couldn't hit a nail the first day!) It was one of the best experiences of my life; I can't wait to do it again! EVERYONE should help build a house for a family that needs one!!
