I saw them a week ago in atlanta and that incense smell was so fantastic. I wish i could smell it every time I listened to agalloch and now I barely remember it - on facebook a few weeks ago I remember someone asking them about it (apparently it's a special blend) and asking if they'd ever consider selling it and the response was a flat "No." They wouldn't reveal what kind it was either

H wthorne passage, I remember Hawthorne St. in the SE side, Powells Bookstore, Jackpot Records, they'd shut down the street on the weekends and bands would be playing in the street. Portland's a cool town but I had to leave, no jobs and way too many drugs... they gotta clean up Burnside and under the bridge, too bad I know these things... *sheepish grin*

I don't know what you think about that part but it's totally true i think.

It is just my opinin and i said wow that is goddamn right when i heard this.I was thinking that for years,and i think melodic death metal is something like that too.3-4 minutes melodic songs for though metalheads and easy way to make money.These are just opinions.Don't take so serious.

I just think to many "pagan" metal bands are, just as haughm says, paganthemed partymusic. I really like agallochs respectful approach on heathen/pagan material...

@MeurglysIV I think that's pretty much true for any metal genre.

You just gotta find the bands that are worth your attentions and melodeath has great bands too (Be'lakor and Insomnium being my favourite examples).

@MeurglysIV hehehe I completely agree with you, and honestly I believe that bands such as Ensiferum or Turisas try to label their own music as folk/viking metal or whatever....despite the fact, like you said "just play boring melodic/death metal"
