fox new$ here says the report from j.hopkins study group was from "what Iraqi's told them & & not a body count." When asked-the study teams (not just hopkins but all said they have proof of death certificates from over 80% of the familes- keep in mind so many were/are so poor that they could not afford any funeral- but just buried in the backyard (hence no certificate 4 many). But OVER 80% from all the study groups! When released dick cheney mumbled nervously, "it's only 30,000."

We still don't have exact figures of deaths from WWII, much less Rwanda, Darfur, Iraq, etc. ALL of the numbers are just estimates based on different reporting criteria.

It is sad that some of you will fall for anything Fox News Tells you. WHY do you think the repubs made it a 'law' that we are not allowed to show the number of Iraqi deaths on the News. (is it not news?) Again, WHY are the news channels NOT allowed?

bebeinpa- notice the word law we typed is in ' ' marks. Obvious (to most) it can not be made into a law- Just like the health in$urance co's can't really make their own 'laws'- but can make their own rules. When the heads of news corps are told specific orders - from the desk of the president- they have to be followed. Odd that this is the 1st war EVER where the non-american death #'s are NOT TO BE SHOWN. Only time ever. Mentioned in the movie "W" as well.

Fair enough on the first two points. However the rest is unconvincing.Any and all news outlets are free to go to Iraq to report and film whatever they will, without penalty from the White House. American media besides, has long been "squeamish" vis'a'vis bloodshed compared to foreign reporting. Think of the coverage in Latin America for instance. I know that GB has asked the media not to make a show of the fallen soldier's caskets coming into Dover AFB.

The AP put the civilian death toll at 16,000 in 2006. The Iraqi Body Count Project is more accurate: 60,500 in the last 4 years. 37% were due to attacks by American and coalition forces. The Hopkins report was based upon hearsay apparently and that doesn't count. Go figure. But the cowards and liars on the Left won't hear of it.
