Only chance for this thing to survive in a real battle would be if it was mobile. Otherwise NK tanks and artilery would chop it to pieces very fast. But I can imagine how effective it could be against non-armored infantry...

make the camera section as small as possible, so it is very hard for the enemy to see.

and make the gun section hidden, and only pop out from its hidden compartment when it is ready to shoot at something.

so that intruders can see it from a distance, and assume it is the real thing,

and enemy snipers will try to distroy the dummy, when the real thing is hidden and well protected.

and when the enemy approaches after distroying the dummy and assume everything is safe. the real sentry will pop out from its hidden compartment and kill the intruder.

No with the US UAVS there is a human controlling the trigger at all times.

It cannot attack unless a human gives the order.

They could automate them but don't because well it would go for all sorts of non combatant targets. AIs are not good at discerning threats they just act and react to a stimulus.

If this is automated it could be defeated by a decoy mounted on another robot or even a person shaped balloon.

Get it to fire off all it's ammo then walk by it.
