Personally, I think Price should have died instead of Soap, Soap was the main protagonist in CoD4, a main character in MW2 (protagonist in the end), plus he's basically a symbol of the Modern Warfare player. Besides, Price is Soap's mentor, and it's the mentor who should die so the apprentice can get ahead. Finally, Soap killed both the main antagonists in CoD4 and MW2 (Zalkhev and Shepherd), it makes sense to tradition that he be the one to kill Makarov.

I don't get why they (the allies) didn't just kill the girl when they had the chance. If their objective is to keep her from being used as leverage against the Russian Pres., the best way to do that would've been to kill her during the previous battle. Also why is Makarov so interested in using nukes in the 1st place? France and England have plenty of nuclear weapons too, if some are used against them, they'd respond in turn.

@BaumBloops I thought the implication was that Marakov had much worse things than death planned for her (rape, torture, etc.) and that this threat is what would compel the Pres to give the codes. I don't think there's any reason that the Pres would ever know the U.S. killed her, I mean there are bombs going off and buildings crashing down everywhere. Both sides are blowing shit up like crazy. I don't even think Makarov would know for sure.
