  • can you do the first 3-5 rows of the brioche stitch? I'm a beginner and I keep getting lost after the first row.

  • @xbbythi In the video, I demonstrate Rows 1 and 2. The rest of the rows are just those two rows repeated over and over. Hope that helps.

  • For the set up row do I cast it on as if to double knit? or do i just Longtail double stranded?

  • in row 2 then in the last three i yf s1 k1

  • @sstitanlady Yes, that is what the pattern says, that's correct.

  • Hi Staci I love your videos. They are so helpful and your patterns are great as well. I was wondering if you would consider making a video on doing brioche in the round? I cannot seem to find any helpful videos on here and written patterns confuse me as well.

  • when you're doing the knit two together, it only looks like you're knitting one. Curse my failing vision, but could you do a segment with a closeup? or is there one online you can link me to?

  • I absolutely live this pattern! So easy and te result is very cushy and warm. I was wondering whether you know how to do this using magic loop? If not that could be your next video! :)

  • verypinkknits how do u start it off is it the same as when u are doing it like on ur video? My sister wants 2 kno

  • @TineeTerror To start the brioche stitch, I used the long tail cast on. YouTube won't let me give you a direct link here in the comments, but you can see my video by searching for "Knitting Help - Long-Tail Cast-On" on my channel page.

  • Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video. You did an excellent job. It finally clicked in my brain.

  • I wonder if your could give me some advice, I try to do everything that you say/have written out on the file, but somehow I end up with an extra stitch on on the third row, and I have no idea how to go on from that point or to prevent it. Help!

  • @StephAteYourEars Hmm...without actually seeing your work, I can't tell you exactly what is going wrong...but if you're ending up with an extra stitch, I have to guess that you're adding a yarn over or missing a k2tog somewhere. I hope you find how you're adding a stitch so you can move on to Row 4! :)

  • Hello Staci!

This video was featured on Boye’s Facebook page. Please invite your followers to see your post on our page. I hope you continue sharing your wonderful work on your blog, for the world to see!

  • Does it matter the number of stitches you cast on to begin with ( even or odd ) ?

  • @mersylla Yes - this info is available in the free pattern download (a link to this is provided in the video description, just below the video). You'll want to cast on an odd number of stitches.

  • @verypinkknits Thank you ! : )

  • Firstly, thank you so much for such excellent quality videos!! I printed your instructions and am knitting while viewing the video - using both guarantees successful knitting! I would love to see a video from the very beginning for two -color brioche. As a fairly new knitter, it's tough to cast-on, join the yarn and know exactly what it should look like. But getting past the first part and knitting in pattern is so rewarding! Can't wait to see the fluffy scarf I will end up with.

  • Where is it written out on your website?

  • @TheMaureen1952 If you look at the video description (the text directly under the video) there is a link to my website. On that page you will find a download link to the written instructions for the Brioche Stitch.

  • How did you make the stitches that look like a yarn over? The pattern never says to to them. And how do u slip the stitch with the cc?

  • @11Wizardry9911 The stitches that look like yarn overs are made by doing the "yf" and "yb" movements of the yarn. You slip the stitch with the contrasting color (cc) just like you would slip any other stitch - move it from the left needle to the right, without working it.

  • How do I keep the same amount of stitches? And what do you mean by yb and yf?

  • @11Wizardry9911 Have you downloaded the free pattern that accompanies this video? The pattern, as written, maintains the same number of stitches from row to row. "YF" and "YB" mean "yarn forward" and "yarn back", which means to pull the working yarn forward between the two needles, or back between the two needles. The link to the pattern is available below the video in the video description.

  • @verypinkknits Ik, but in one of the rows it says yb and yf, in the same row at the same time

  • @11Wizardry9911 Yes, but then you're knitting two together (k2tog) the same number of times in the same row, keeping your stitch count the same.

  • Where do we "yarn over"? When ever I try doing the pattern i always decrease stitches.

  • @11Wizardry9911 Did you see that I have provided a free PDF pattern download to accompany this video? That will show you where each of the stitches go. :) The link to the pattern is available just below the video in the video description area. There really aren't any yarn overs in Brioche Stitch.

  • What is the type of yarn you use? For this stitch? And which row do you start with?

  • @11Wizardry9911 I don't remember the brand of yarn that I used in this demonstration, but it is 100% wool, worsted weight. You can use any yarn you like for this stitch. All of the details in how to work it are available in the free pattern. Just follow the link I provided below the video, in the video description.

  • will you please show how to start it off and maybe go alittle slower

  • @charlieheartsmusic You start with the long-tail cast on...I have a video for that, which can be found if you use the search on my channel page. Also, if you follow the link to the free pattern download on my website, it will be easier for you to work this stitch.

  • Thank you so very much!!!! I am thrilled to try it out :)

  • Ive seen a pattern that looks really similar to this one... it's a knit one, knit the stitch under, repeat. Idk if the two color works with this but i've made a scarf that looks just like this and i was wondering if this was the same type of thing? Thanks :D

  • @ladymistreschristine I'm not familiar with the stitch you're talking about, but it sounds like it would end up looking a lot like this. Knitting the stitch below is going to stretch that stitch, much like slipping stitches does in this pattern.

  • @verypinkknits Awesome Thanks :)

  • @ladymistreschristine Yes. That is the same stitch. It is K1B knit one below which is similar to brioche stitch but just another way of doing it. Lily Chin explains that in her power cables video.

  • i can't wait untll my skills are good enough to watch tv whilst knitting hehe it's still new to me. this was a great vid thanks

  • @lin90210 welcome!
