I really liked this series of videos, but they all seem to focus on people who have no trouble coming up with 'islands' and committing to them. I have written pages and pages of islands but I cannot commit to any direction that may allow at least some of them to come to together. My problem isn't that I cannot write or have no ideas, it's that I don't TRUST my ideas. I would love to see a video on that.
Perhaps the W should have its second 'valley' as lower than the first, and it's peaks at different levels, to really drive home the comparative nature of the story parts.
Thanks to this vid I may try to write the book I've been thinking about the past month. Not sure how to handle a certain aspect of it but I am hopeful I will figure it out.
At last...someone who understands the term 'cognitive style' or method of learning!
Many are visual learners (like me) many are aural learners (girls form a large % of this group).
When learning, if material is designed with all learning styles in mind...voila! students aren't as stupid as the education system and polititcians and parents believe they are.
I am undertaking a diploma in novel writing and I am also working on my debut novel. I have read many books all offering different ways of outlining a novel and all of them have been very difficult to adapt to the physical process. Your storyboarding process has enlightened me and has perfectly pushed everything I have learnt into one final, excellend concept - which I will definitely be using. Thanks for teaching us Mary!
I have been writing for awhile, taken courses, read LOTS of books, but this is the best explaination I have ever witnessed and put so many things in perspective for me. *Getting to work now!* thanks so much!
Mary This is better than class. Pretty soon we will have a half hour show on "The Writer's Channel". You deserve to be on Oprah as 'the person who taught the world the World to write'. Worldwide Baby! Congratulations!
