  • if your not saying it correctly then don't say it its very bad to mispronounce hawaiian words.

Shes pretty an has a voice but seriously its very bad to mispronounce hawaiian words. If you don't know what your saying or don't know the meaning don't say it. . .sorry its the truth.

I found you from a link on my friend's page who subscribed to you. I just wanted to let you know, I think you are beautiful and have a wonderful voice. Thanks for the music and the videos.

It's hard to give you props on your page because there's no comments module, and if I try to send you a message it says it's blocked unless you're added as a friend. So, I picked my favorite video to leave a message on. Hope you don't mind.

    Thanks again!

  • Fake emotions, grrrrrrr.

  • @MolokaiAlika who the hell u think u are saying she fakin the emotions....accum on....u can obviously tell she hawaiian heart and soul...so cut her some slack she sounds good...........

  • I firmly believe that it is better to perpetuate the beautiful hawaiian music, and to let everyone make their own thoughts on punctation, rather than not to hear this wonderfull song at all. ALOHA

  • ahh this was simply amazing :) i'm from hawaii and it's soo great to see someone well-known on youtube singing a hawaiian song.

i hate that people are bashing you for not pronouncing some hawaiian words correctly. it really doesn't matter! what DOES matter is that you're one of the ONLY singers on here who has had the courage to even try to sing a song in an entirely different language.

in other words, i give you major credit, girl <3 you rock. :)

  • would you please please post up lyrics to this and the chords you used for this song?

    i LOVE this song!!

  • This is a very sweet and tender rendition. Your beautiful face only adds to the performance. Your lips, with the glossy pink lipstick, stand out.

  • wow u have amazing eyes and a really interesting look in them, wow im speechless :) great song!!

  • My favorite so far... :) I'm jealous of your beauty and your voice.

  • i luvvv yur voice

    && this song

    gwed jobb

  • E hoi mai, NOT E hoi ma'i; no okina between the a and i.... please develop pronunciation, or else the phrases mean something totally different then intended. K, no disrespect... just study the phrase construction and the use of kahako and okina. Mahalo.

  • 本当に好きだ

  • awh u look so cute singin that!!

    greetin from ireland nd brazil!

  • are you even hawaiian ?

  • wow! beautiful

  • Sister, I don't care about what any of these ignorant Hawaiians say about your singing or your pronunciation; you sound fine!!! Most of the people here in Hawaii can't even speak Hawaiian, let alone enunciate their words properly enough to sing a song. Damn Kanakas grow up!!!! If uncle frank kawaikapuokalani hewett says you sound good, and he's the composer of this mele, who the hell are they to judge you!!!

  • @kahanu2 don't call my people ignorant. she did fine, they're just saying that she needs to work on pronunciation because, if you didn't know, Hawaiian is a SPOKEN language. E hoʻi maʻi means something completely different than E hoʻi mai.

"I ka ʻōlelo nō ke ola, i ka ʻōlelo nō ka make."

  • nice nice nice

  • Brah, I was singing along with you! E ho'i mai! Mahalo for singing that! <3 -Hawaii

  • beautiful you and and the song :) made me tear a bit lol

  • beautiful... i dont only mean your voice but you aswell :)

  • You are very beautiful with a wonderful voice. I wish you a lot of success with your life in 2010.

  • Happy New Year :) 5/5*

  • could any one give me a Tabs to this, please ?

  • ho girl you bettah reeeeeeeeeeeeelax. your asian accent is hurtin this song

  • lol

  • hahaha true true.

  • very u'i im sure you know the meaning to this song.

  • sweet singing

  • i'm Tawan and i'm from Thailand i don't understand but it okay

    i like good Sound.

  • u pronunciate our language badly and ur singings not that great. i think u just get alot of good reviews cause ur pretty

  • I asked a latino officer in 1966, in the army. How does it sound to you when an American tries to speak your lanuage? His answer was, "Charming", He was right . You should be flattered that someone from another culture attempts your language. You are right that she is pretty.

  • thats a good point but for me it's a different story when someones singing such a legendary song such as poliahu and butchers it with bad pronunciation. I juch didnt enjoy it is all.

  • @KahuKaEnaGurl I enjoyed it but I can see and agree with you on the bad pronunciation.

  • i don't understand it but its okay..

she could baby me to sleep anytime..

listen to my song sometime, this is BAAKMEE

  • Nice voice love it

  • incredible voice, beautiful song, and if you don't mind me saying beautiful girl too!

    keep up the good work!

  • du hast eine wunderschöne stimme

  • Well I don't see how this could be disrespectful to the Hawaiian culture.

I think you did a beautiful job.

You have a very serene voice.

    (:

    I love it.

  • There are too many people out there nowadays that trivialize our music by thinking that just anyone can sing Hawaiian. It is a music that forms a very deep and important part of our history and culture and deserves a lot of respect. Please work on your pronunciation and phrasing at the very least.

  • Perfection, is in the eye of the beholder.

  • eh we no kea bu.. we na pefect so.. no can expect dat kine profesial hawaiian language. hu u think u? atleast we trying bruh.

  • เพราะดีครับ เสียงหวานเหมือนหน้า beautiful voice as beautiful face

  • wow, your a good singer. im watchin this video wit dis other hawaiian guy in kodiak alaska. thanx fo a lil touch of home.

  • aloha i am kawaikapuokalani hewett the composer of this song, poliahu. thank you for singing my music. take care and aloha.

  • @kawaikapu this is not Hewitt's page it is kawaikapuokalani not the bogus kawaikapu. Go to kawaikapuokalani for is vids, and page. Au'e!

  • @kawaikapu no your not

  • Stop trying to sing Hawaiian songs. Hawaiians donʻt try to sing asian songs.

  • Yes they do. Just like Americans sing British tunes, and Japanese play South American songs. The world, is one place. Don't divide it up more then it already is.

  • @holekainaba Of course, they do. Hawaiians sing Japanese songs, Korean songs, Chinese songs, as well as tons of Mainland English-based songs. You think Keali'i Reichel never sings in a language other than Hawaiian? Buy an album of any Hawaiian artist and you'll find a lot of things other than Hawaiian.

  • I have no idea what you're saying, but if looks could kill, you'd be able to bring back the dead.

  • กล่าวว่าไม่มีอะไรแค่ฟัง

    Say nothing just listen

    Ne rien dire, juste écouter........

  • Some of the words were pronounced wrong but I still think you did an awesome job! =)

  • I couldn't tell you had a cold. You sound very lovely! Keep it up!

  • Hmm...well I AM Hawaiian..and I thought you did a good job. Lol, I was doing the echoings while I was listening since they weren't there...makes me miss home :( Mahalo nui loa.

  • it doesnt matter if she's hawaiian. i jus love to see other cultures embrace our culture. if your hawaiian then u no that we have probably the most strongest culture out there. keep supporting the music and long live the hawaiians. ua mau ke ea o ka aina i ka pono o hawaii. chee pono.

  • u r prittey im wish i was u

  • ma che c...o stara dicendo:)nice song

  • i love you

  • she never said she was great @ the hawaiian language, if any of u have learned it (w/it not being ur native language) it's a very difficult language 2 master but she's trying & she's not terrible so stop the harshness.

& people from the mainland dont make jokes about the Hawaiian culture, they r envious of it, y do u think they all want 2 live n Hawaii? shes not embarrassing the Hawaiian culture, she's doing fine.

Mai `ena i ke kanaka i laka aku.

  • ok... so you have a nice voice.. its not for this song.. learn how to pronounce your hawaiian better and. It was a good try though.. but stick to haole music and don't butcher our music.. this is why people from the mainland make jokes about our music because of people like you .. sorry hun but i have to be harsh to make you understand!!!

  • why so harsh?

  • Shut up all you HATERS!! she is beautiful and this song, too! I dream of hawaii, and this song is beautiful!
