What really bothers me is the fact that people are actually thinking he's speaking out against religion. He's speaking of the fact that the world he lives in is so horrible that he needs to escape to another world. The world is the central point in the Cyberpunk universe, the 'Net. Essentially he's saying that his heaven is the 'Net, he's not saying that there is no God, or whether there is. The album is called Cyberpunk, guys, and has nothing to do with God.
This album also has a massive wikepedia entry on it. Me this is a great song I picked up the album 2nd hand in 95. I like the controvery its still going. A friend of mine bought the album recently and said it was horrible.
This album should have been the theme to a cyberpunk science fiction movie staring Billy Idol. I can just imagine him on a futuristic, akira type motorcycle riding through the desert with this song playing. Maybe it would be the opening credits, combined with animated, Heavy Metal-esque sequences of the scene.
Cyberpunk was the best album Billy Idol released, way to far advanced for the fucking critics and the masses that never got it...to bad for them. It should be re-released and see how it does now....Fucking right, NO RELIGION...Jesus died for somebodys sins but not mine!!! Fucking idiots!!!
Cyberpunk was the best album B.I. put out, but they panned it saying it was way to early for this kind of stuff...BULLSHIT,, they were just way to far behind...This is the real shit!!!!
Cyberpunk was his best album, true. this album cuts out his stupid bullshit and it is a step towards a real artistic vision and awesome songwriting. I love this album. I havent got it, I should buy it, If I could find it somewhere, damn it.
@ZZombyWooff Yo, if you got you tube downloader you can get all videos on you tube, then convert it to mp3, thn burn it to CD. Though, if you want to give credit to the maker, google it and buy it.
This CD was never off my car stereo.......My mates thought I was a twat........they were right!!!! doors film as well great film....about the same time?
So funny how the pioneers always get shot down initially and then resurface as heroes. I'm glad Billy Idol had enough balls to do his own thing back in 93.
@spfi38 Sence you want Atheists to get lost, I be sure to inform them not to get anything from the-quadzilla-kings. Here is a uplifting verse from your holybook. (Bible---Deuteronomy 13:7-12 ) Question authority and think for yourself. :)
you dont need religon when you have billy idol.

I've been rocking this cd since it came out. Masterpiece. This one is pretty underground for Idol, so that makes it all the more epic.

Religion is a disgusting waste of time. Nothing can be gained from the endless devotion and the pointless restrictions.

It's kind of depressing that this album was panned by critics. Little did they know the legacy and sensible cult following it would leave behind.
