Does anyone out there know how these amps take pedals? I play funky fusion stuff occasionally, and use overdrive/distortion similar to how the Brecker Brothers did. 10" versus 12"? For the most part, though, it's straight ahead jazz, in the vein of Bruno, so I know it'll sound great for that.
@philbio66 Yes, I have. It's quite similar (the same amplifier and preamp), but has some differences due to the bigger cabinet size and speaker. Mostly I would say it has a flatter frequency response, which sounds great for solo guitar. For playing in a combo, I prefer the 110 as it has a bit more punch in the mid range.
@blekdood I use mine in louder bands all the time. There is plenty of volume with loud drummers etc. They are rated at around 120 watts with the internal speaker. It's all about styles though- if you are playing motown chord chanks etc, it will be plenty to cut through. If you're playing rock- there are better amps for the job!
very good sound, i was looking for a new jazz amp. and henriksen jazzamp 110 was my choice. Now after i heared how the sound is i'm shure it's what i look for.
Thank you for your demo, by the way you play v good. I hope will fit with my guitars I play hagstrom hj800 and ibanez ag75 hollowbody and ibanez as50 semihollow..
Super clean sound and great playing! Two questions - 1) what guitar are you using and 2) how did you capture the audio from the amp? Thanks again for the super demo!
Thanks for the comments. I used a Gretsch 6120, which isn't really the Jazziest of guitars! All done on the neck pickup, with slight tone control changes.
The audio was recorded into the comp using a single cheap CAD ribbon mic. It doesn't capture the real shimmer and warmth of the sound, but I think it does a good job of showing off the basic sound and what these great amps can do.
Yep, I use overdrive pedals with mine all the time. It sounds great and smooth, but with the tweeter on or Tweetey plugged in it can sound very harsh.
I do funk things with it aswell, you just need to turn the treble controls up a bit to get some spank in the sound.
10" has more mid range push to help with funk.

Thanks. I'm playing my bedroom so I'd probably go with the 12" speaker.

Nice sound. Will the Henriksen JazzAmp 110 coax a warm sound out of a Strat?

Because of the graphic equalizer, yes! I have this amp, and it produces a really warm and nice sound. Makes solid body guitars sound awesome ;)

Can this amp do low volume practice levels?
bingefeller 2 years ago
Yep it sure can. Henriksen uses a linear power amp, so it sounds the same at all volumes. Much fatter than a tube amp at quiet levels!
