A far more useful feature would be the ability to move left or right by a whole word using the cursor keys... or even the ability to double-click to select a URL or other word. These are features that the Terminal app in Linux has had for ages.
This split screen feature is extremely limited as you can only type in the last pane you have created - you can't, for example, tail a log output and then open a prompt in a pane below to do some stuff, not can you do the same while building some code.
