Anyone saying this wouldn't work doesn't know anything. There are all kinds of little submissions that if applied properly can work, but they are more difficult to get, so less people attempt them, and therefore they are less known. If you roll with an expert blackbelt though and he's going full speed, he'll tweek every little joint or pressure spot you've, places you didn't even know could hurt so bad.
@AverageAsianMe Give me some more detail about what you did. Did you try to drill the technique first? Don't just try a new move in full sparring without working out the kinks in technique drill first. This is a good move. Practice it with your mat buddies, then break it out in your grappling! Good luck!
@Flatline1111 There's a trusted adage out there that goes "if you think you can't, you're right." Practice the move. It's a good one for your arsenal. If you don't think you can master it, or think it has faults, work them out. Plenty of non-noobs have tapped to this. And if you don't want to even bother trying it, Google "no gi" "bat choke" | "baseball choke" and you'll find tons of folks who have figured this move out. Good for them.
@budoatemaildotcom Lol u lil big mouth flatline1111, that move works great against everybody. It is true that that move is difficult for alot of people, but don't tell people not to use it.
I can't see this working in a real application. You don't have control of the hip, he could hip out real easily. I tried this in training and it didn't work at all.
@19thaman79 It works. It's an insanely strong choke. Perhaps the video doesn't translate the move well for you, but this move rules. There are a number of similar moves I call "tilt chokes" that are all based on the concept of "folding his head" over an arm (or a leg in the case of Go-go Plata).
@budoatemaildotcom I opologize if I came off like a jerk, I didn't mean to. I tried it again at training and it worked. I wasn't doing it right. After viewing your video again I realized I wasn't lifting his head and putting pressure down on my training partners neck as I bought my elbows together.

@19thaman79 You didn't come off any anything like that. It was a good question. Thanks for working it out. Now maybe you can help me convince some other viewers that with a little practice, this stuff works! :)
@19thaman79 We fixed that problem at our place. We sit out when we do it also. In this video, he would throw his right leg out past the guys head? Sorry I'm not good at explaining it but if you got what I was saying, try it out. Fixed the hip our problem of this
Because you don't want to crush your partner's windpipe. When this choke is applied to the front part of the throat it is extremely painful and can be very dangerous. If you were doing it for self defense then slam your damn forearm right on that f'ers trachea and crush it.
@smileypie22000 Even in self defense, there's no reason to crush anyone's trachea. Knock him out and move on. Don't try to kill the guy. You can defend yourself without using lethal force, especially if your alternative is to put him to sleep.
@MPA2000 Even in a Self defense situation a "safe" choke can completely immobilize and defeat your attacker. Crushing the windpipe is not needed for victory and has more negatives than positives. i.e. lawsuit , death . You are better off Fighting like you train
why isthis so fast

that is a great move, sometimes i pull it off right over the center (atoms apple) why do you choose the side instead, just curious? thanks.

@toddjeffi For safety. Don't ever crush someone's trachea when you can more safely put them to sleep with a blood choke near the carotid sinus

Why would you want it to be "safe"? Isn't this self defense or is this just for sport/training?
