  • michael jackson in the house at 1:18...lol

  • lupet nohh??

  • Literally made my spine tingle!!! Love his style, almost like Vai, but Christian!!! Which makes it all the more ENJOYABLE. Notice I didn't say better, just even more enjoyable.

  • parang steve vai ng christian music! yeah!

  • @JaypeeXcore14 parang john mayer na christian :)

  • AWESOME Lincoln!

One thing the world hates about Christians and often laughs at us for is the fact we can't do the simplest things (like listen to a great guitar solo) without firing up an internal argument. People, relax, did you enjoy the solo? If so then just listen. So much drama.

    Keep on rippin' it Lincoln!

  • This is my church hahah!

  • God gave him the talent to USE. It isn't showing off if you are given HIM the praise. Vocal talent or guitar talent, it matters not. Only that you use it for HIS glory.

  • its good to see that there are worship leaders with actual talent these days at church congratulations lincoln! props

  • 1:12...WOOOW!!!!!

  • Wow, clapping was so off. Don't try to throw off the guitar player on a solo. Geez...

  • sooooo refreshing to see a worship leader who is not afraid to show off his talent.

  • ...i agree..most solos are looked down upon in a church..especially when done by a worship leader..nothing wrong expressing your full abilities..

  • Showing off is not good, because then you start taking credit instead of giving God glory. However, playing to your full ability without making it about yourself is A OK!

  • I think this debate we are having about solos being o.k. in worship is an example of Christians living in cocoons. Don't get me wrong I think we in the Church should always be questioning what is right and wrong within our faith but with all that is going on in the world I personally don't think God cares about whether someone is soloing in a church service or not. And even if He did I think on in the grand scheme of things this would be a minor offense. I think God has a thick skin.

  • Awesome guitarist.

  • can i get the redone lyrics? that was beautiful..pleaaaaaaaasssssseeee.

  • Before Lincoln went solo, when he was playing for Steve Perry of Journey, guitar magazine rated him as the 6th best guitar in the world. (currently, not of all time)

  • Just curious on why we are even talking Satriani versus Lincoln. Lincoln is a songwriter, singer, and guitarist. Satriani is really more of a guitar player extraordinaire. They are really different types of musicians.

  • i think he was trying to say he used to shred like satriani as in he plays that way. dont think its a comparison at all.

by the way, imo, he is the kind of guitarist who is in the category of satriani. guitar virtuoso type. he is one and the only kind cos he glorify God with that kind of skill.

  • I love Lincoln! He is amazing! He does what he nedds to do to get he point across! Come on over & check out my vids when you can. God gave me a wonderful blessed talent, & I use it everyday thankfully teaching people, & making music. Special music in church is a blast as well. Enjoy my instrumental stuff. God Bless!

    Troy Clark

  • Lincoln is above the average professional out there, but I agree that Joe Satriani is better. But Joe Satch is really in the top 3% of all professional guitarists out there. Lincoln is very tasteful in his solos, so that definitely adds to his abilities.

  • I jammed with him back in 1990. He's calmed down a lot. He used to shred like Joe Satriani.

  • Then he starts playing the Tim Buckley version of Hallelujah at the end. very nice.

  • Is it Tim Buckley's? Its redone in the lyrics isn't it?

  • jeff buckley...

  • what an awsome guitarist, shame about the knobs clapping in the background lol that wud do my nut if i was playing! lol

  • He was at my church (The OAKS - Ellis country Texas) this past week end. He rocked the place. Great job by the whole band and his solo's were awesome. Never knew he played with Journey - how cool is that.. Keep up the great job Licoln!

  • umm, octavarium23.... "Yes it does, it tells you one of the two things. Either you are extremely gifted, or you've been extremely devoted. All the same, Brewster isn't that fast. I know Christian music isn't about so much techincal stuff, but if we're arguing about it, might as well point out some facts." technical stuff in christian music? yeah...as i lay dying, becoming the archetype, aletheian, FOR TODAY, WBCC, august burns red, stryper, holy soldier, the showdown...check 'em out

  • I love the sweet diminished arpeggio he does at 0:52! Way cool!

  • Haha me too but it's not exactly a diminished arpeggio.

  • Isn't it awesome to see a Christian guitarist this good????

  • Hello? Phil Keaggy?

  • Phil Keaggy? Love Phil. Totally different player than Lincoln. I think Phil has could possibly be the best all around Christian guitar player. I can't think of a more versatile player out there. He is just amazing.

  • Thats Awsome!

  • Lincoln Brewster isn't fast? That's one of the funniest things I've ever heard. If Brewster isn't fast then I would like to know who is?

  • Herman Li sounds like a synthesiser..

    Lincoln sounds good...

  • Herman's pretty bad live. Lincoln can play very well not to mention clean live and sing as well. Herman Li, needs to find 1 accent other than a hybrid Chinese/Aussie accent.

  • God has really blessed this guy with a great talent. what makes him special is the anointing God has over him when he plays

  • wow, the guy is just flat out good...speed isnt everything, look at a lot of punk music where speed is just a matter of keeping up with the flying vomit and cuss words...what makes a good solo? strong, original, soulful, innovative and creative melody, being consistant and interesting to the progressions, and of course a little pizazz for the crowd...once again, lincolns good

  • john mayer would look like this if he becomes a christian. excellent three piece!!!!

  • He did the same thing at Dare2Share '08 in Va.

  • ows jetron gwapo..michael pangit kaayo...wat chicboy..ning uli nko guys...york ratsada na..

  • This guy writes good music. On his albums you can hear him play in the Spirit...it comes through even through the recording.

He is skilled and he plays to honour God. God makes him special, not his own personal skill.

  • Basically a white, christian, sober Hendrix.

  • lol nice

  • lol!

  • I know hows about we all pray and maybe John Mayer would saved?

  • I have to respectfully disagree. I love John Mayer...very tasty and has some nice chops...not to mention a great songwriter. But honestly, if you listen to Lincoln Brewster's live album, you would see that he's got taste but he has ridiculous technique...far more than Mayer. Face to face, he would blow John Mayer away.

  • quite comparing who's better than who...there both awesome..

  • Brewster with ridiculous technique??

he is very fast playing (and speed it's a hard techinique of picking).

he makes sweet things with simple techniques. It's different. Clapton does not use hard techniques,David Gilmour... they got feeling, just like Brewster.

  • I saw him live at a church in my area not at my church but at a near by church and it was so awesome he's trully a master of the guitar.

  • What's the thing he does @ 0:51? It sounds so familiar... :)

  • Hah sounds like a buckethead riff

  • yes it is.....

  • yes it is.....

  • Lincoln Brewster is coming to my church in May I cannot wait! Check out cpclive (dot) org for more info!

  • gotta love that POD XT Live

  • They are so awesome...Just saw them last weekend

  • Dude, he's a great guitarist. I saw him live, and he was awesome.

  • Lincoln - Awesome!!!!!!!!

  • Anyone who makes a negative comment about Linc's guitar playing honestly don't know what they're talking about. He is an absolute gun! Just listen to Steve Perry's 'For the Love of Strange Medicine!' He puts most guitarists to shame!

  • Not in vail steve perry took him to be the lead guitar at 1994...

  • ok any of you that have criticized lincoln brewster, how much room is there to be creative over the past what, 30 or 40 years of amazing guitarists. it's just annoying to hear average joes down someone amazing at their instrument like lincoln brewster. check the motive then talk please. i completely agree with corebare below.

  • John Petrucci did, and is still doing it.

  • Funny. Who are all of you people? And why do you think you know about Lincoln Brewster and what kind of a guitarist he is or isn't? Lincoln is a great guitarist and alsways has been, but to compare like you are? And to compare him to Neal Schon? That's not what he's about. He wants you to enjoy his music...not his abilities as a guitarist. If he cared about that, he would have chosen a different road in 1994.

  • clapton is a brand name any more for god's sake.

  • Lincoln Brewster is endorsment of Fender.Just like Eric Clapton and other 23 guitar players.

Have just 25 Fender's endorsment in the world.

  • Linncoln "Best" Brewster!!!

  • Everyone that brings up Clapton needs to realize while Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck and EVH continued to grow as musicians and players and experiment...Clapton reverted to blues and country and then finally became a pop baladeer. This is undeniable.

  • Lincoln is a great guitarist, but to compare him to Clapton or anyone else is not really fair. Like many guitarist these days there aren't many that are truly creative. You can thank Eric Johnson for the first 10 seconds of this video, Stevie Ray Vaughan for the rest. And you can thank Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, and Jeff Beck for defining a genre for both Johnson and SRV.

  • John Petrucci mastered the art of creativity not just with speed but with techinique, feeling, and emotion. He totally blows Clapton, Page, and SRV away.

  • I disagree, Clapton Page and SRV created music palatable to the both the every day person to the most hailed musicians in the industry. No disrespect to Petrucci, Gilbert, Yngwie, and the the gang (they work hard at what they do), but there's a reason why their music attracts a considerable amount of teenage boys whereas the music of Clapton, Page, and SRV play at sports stadiums.

  • I totally respect how influential Clapton and SRV were, and still is today. And John Petrucci, he was called a musical genius by classical composers and conductors after he released an album with his keyboardist. I am saying although Clapton and company influenced probably all the famous guitarists out there today, some of them have surpassed Clapton and company in terms of skill, musicality, etc. But I dont like putting Yngwie in the same class as the guys mentioned, it doesn't sound like music

  • There is nothing at all creative about Clapton. He's the most cliched musician out there.

  • I suggest you read an encyclopedia or at least know what you're talking about before you speak. Clapton is arguably one of the most influential guitarists in rock.

  • There's no doubt about how influential he's been. But if you think he's particularly "creative", or for that matter has ever been so in his entire career, then more research should be done on your part. And I don't see how SRV could be credited for the rest, from a "where did these ideas come from". He was great, but not groundbreaking/creative. Jeff Beck, on the other hand... he's very creative.

(Holdsworth, Guthrie Govan, and Tim Miller are the living pioneers.)

  • ..and while you are at it..Scotty Anderson, Jerry Reed,Audley Freed, hell even John Mayer. Lincoln's tone and approach in this clip has tons of SRV. Guthrie is definately on the top of pioneers list.. I have to agree.

  • Oh man! Scotty Anderson is a monster! That guy blows me away every time I hear him.

  • its great!

  • He is creatively as good he just doesn't show cause he is a worship leader and wants to praise God, not show off.

  • Lincoln is just as good as Eric Clapton if not better.

  • Only technically as good, not creatively as good.

  • Lincoln is definately a guitar master in my opinion. Seen him twice and both times were incredible. After all, he did used to play with Steve Perry.

  • and eric clapton

  • this is nothing... listen to all to you.. solo... it makes me go crazy..

  • Lincoln is good but come on face it he is not even half of eric clapton.

  • HAHA I think Eric is good and all but WHO CARES! Lincoln ROCKS when it comes to Christian Music

  • I can tell you are not a musician, because any musician can tell Lincoln is way better executer than Eric!

  • Lincoln Brewster in Brazil....

    PLEEEEEEEEEASE!!!!!

    Fantastic guitar man....

  • The lyrics were change to glorify the Lord...the original version uses hallelujah in the sarcastic sense, giving thanks for life's failing.

Lincoln's style is more of a blues-driving Neal Schon, which is why he was selected by Steve Perry.

  • wats the name of this tune

  • You mean when he starts singing? It's the one off of Shrek. The original is called "Hallelujah" But Lincoln had to change it to "Another Hallelujah". Not sure why.

  • Because the song was originally a non-Christian song, called "Hallelujah". Hence, it's another "Hallelujah". Ya get it? He changed some lyrics and made a new (kinda) song.

  • Also, the original lyrics to Hallelujah had some sexual themes behind it...

  • he's a lot better than jimi hendrix. I think he is one of the best guitarist ever.

  • HA. shhhh.... quiet time.

  • Although you're right he's better than hendrix.

  • i like lincoln brewster, but like cmon...he is not even close to being one of best guitarists ever...i dunno about the hendrix comment cuz i havent seen enough brewster to make that kinda judgement.but hello?...eric clapton?slash?jimmy page?derek trucks?the guys who play for john mayer's band probably rank higher...i would put brewster on the same level as john mayer...

  • Slash?

    pff

camon! this guy's got feeling,speed... everthing.

  • his speed is slow! what are you talking about! He's fairly clean, and has some tasteful licks, but anyone can learn how to do those within a year or 2 of guitar.

  • Lincoln Brewster is fast.

The time you take to reach his fastness doesn't matter.

  • Yes it does, it tells you one of the two things. Either you are extremely gifted, or you've been extremely devoted. All the same, Brewster isn't that fast. I know Christian music isn't about so much techincal stuff, but if we're arguing about it, might as well point out some facts.

  • I agree that he isn't THAT fast, but speed isn't everything. The mode changes I heard in the solo are things that take lots of devoted practice to master. He also adds in a lot of rhythm. I'd much rather listen to Brewster's solos than Herman Li's. Now admittedly, Petrucci and Satch are better than Lincoln in both speed and quality, but it's important to note that they are in it for their glory not God's. Besides. I bet Brewster could do much better than that if he wanted.

  • hmm...don't believe on everything you see about a Particular person, or group...

I'd say watch him live, it's worth it. trust me. :)

  • slash sucks. jimmy page sucks.

  • he's like the Christian, right handed version of jimi hendrix

  • Sounds very Eric Johnsonish on certain parts! Especially on the Tone!!

  • Leonard Cohen wrote this song.

  • Jeff Buckley did this song cool i think Lincoln is a Jeff Buckley fan!

  • his guitar's sound is like total srv

  • I actually attend the church where Lincoln regularly leads worship. It is ALWAYS about God. The part in this video is a solo in a song, not just the guitar. Lincoln is very good about reminding us all why we worship.

  • One thing I can say about Lincoln is that he appears to be humble. I've never seen him try to lift himself up. His music shows where his focus is. I hope that never changes. I've heard some people question some things about Bayside, but Lincoln appears to be the real deal. This is from my own eyes and everything I've heard.

  • Not that I exactly approve of wickedly cool guitar solos... It adds life and a personality to the song, to the worship. But then again worship is all about God and I think the problem with alot of worshippers today is that they worship the worship rather than God...

Well... "All a man's ways seem innocent to him, but the motives are weighed by the Lord" Proverbs 16:2

    God bless

  • Point taken, however God gave him the talent for a reason, cool guitar playing is just that, cool guitar playing. I saw Lincoln at my church and he made the point that it is not about Lincoln, but about God.

I have to say, I am "still" discovering and developing the talents God gave me and God is using those talents in ways I would have never expected.

  • hey i found it! just incase anyone didn't know it's by Rufus Wainwright.

  • hey do any of you know the name of the song i really want to learn it.

  • All I have to say is that it's great to hear someone rip it up on guitar for Jesus. Lincoln Brewster walked away from a very promising career playing for Journey frontman Steve Perry to play for Jesus. That to me speaks volumes of the spiritual character of the man. God Bless him!

  • i was on that service, and believe me, we were worshiping God.

  • Yeah, worship the Lord with your Gifts and talents. I know this from being a worship leader myself. And look how he brought it back to the Lord at the end, you can hear everyone singing and worshipping with him. He can play on, as long as his heart is right with the Lord, then he can play on as much as he wants.

  • TYhe bible says David played skillfully! the worshiper should be focusing on God! The Musicians should be ministering to God. Lincoln has a great heart... He isnt trying to show off but his talent brings delight to the father!

  • The focus on God is simple. All music is created by God. All talent is given by God. Skill is refinement of that talent, and choosing to use that skill and talent for God is an act of worship. I would love to see this whole clip, I love his version of this song.

  • yeah, where's the focus on God?

  • Yeah, I can see what you mean khongming...but at the same time I appreciate this kind of stuff....granted I'm a guitarist...but still. If I hear this in a worship service then I am totally in awe....I see it is as a talent that he's using...granted it can be distracting for some people

  • More like a display of talent than a worship service.

But if it's a concert. Then, great play.

  • Do you have any more footage?

  • woah That is just stink-in cool!^^ He is such a good guitarist

  • This is awesome, I am a guitar player and Lincoln Brewster is one of my favorite guitar players. Do you have the whole performance? please e-mail me at arpegiosoto@hotmail.com
