This happened to me August 16 2009 through no falt of my own. Oregon has the third top unemployment in the US right now and no one here gives a darn. I have to use a walker from a car accident in 2006 that was not my falt. Applied for 400-500 jobs and have had less than 25 interviews. Never have I seen things this bad here in Portland. I am sorry this happened to you. I have had to resort to bad things to get by. My unemployment is gone now and still am out of work. Tired of the garbage here.

Aww That is horrible! I know it's been a while now but since i wasn't around to comment then.I'm gonna go ahead and do it now. That is pretty sad.We all know you were good at what you did and you enjoyed it.That's too bad! Hopefully you're doing okay keeping yourself busy nowadays.I guess i'll see in your upcoming videos whether or not you found another job.Keep your head up.God doesn't give you trials and tribulations,he knows you can't handle.Wish you the best! :(

Stacey I have been MIA for a while so I was quite shocked when I watched this video. I am so very sorry to hear of you loosing your job. Good times are ahead for you, I just know it.
I hope things work out for the best - I know this economy really sucks for about everyone right now,but I think the newspapers will all slowly die off too due to changes in technology
Sorry to hear you have joined the recently un-employed. It seems to be a common occurrence these days as businesses downsize or even go out of business. You seem like a person who will land on their feet and find something you like doing. Good luck.
:-( Stacey I'm so sorry to hear this. Stay positive hon. Something will work out. One door closes another one opens. Keep you eyes open for new opportunities. Hugs to you hon.
Stacey, sorry to hear the news of your job loss and worse, to read of how your boss chose to give you the decision. I think he needs some educating himself in employee relations! Whatever is on the horizon for you I hope everything comes together for you in a wonderful, unexpected way. Be strong. xx
hey Stacey sorry you lost your job, more time to get your creative juices going and make more vlogs for all of us to see and hear you are one of my big inspirations, and I showed my daughter in law and now she likes watching you as well, well how about a good story, I am doing children stories where I read them on video could you check them out, I will put it on a video response.
I hope you don't find this creepy, but I could totally see you as a nurse or something similar. You're so funny and seem like a really cool person to be around--you should totally work with the public. And don't let this stop you!
Sorry you lost your Job sweetie things are so so rough all over so many people have & are loosing there jobs we all use to think that our jobs was set in stone but not so much lately I am not sure how long I will even have my job I just keep my fingers crossed every day. Keep your chin up darling things happen for a reason maybe it was meant to be so that bigger and better things are in store for you. Hugs & much xoxo
That is horrible, I am so sorry that happened to you. Did he say you were let go because things were slow? At least you will get unemployment and that will help you.
Your boss DID that in the most UN professional way. What a jerk!
Stacey this is your opportunity to re-invent yourself. I was laid-off 7 years ago and I had some sad moments, but then I picked myself back up and moved on. I went to school and became a nurse. I was 41 years old when i was laid-off, if I can do it you can too and you will find something awesome, what do you want to do? You are free to do anything, cool huh?
Keep positives thoughts and you mind open, you may find a new career in something that have always wanted to do ;) -Gigi
I'm so sorry to hear this! Your ex-boss definately has zero people skills. But, this could be the start of a new begining, to get a new job or go back to school! Hope things get better for you soon!
Hey precious, I'm sorry. I know your sad. Getting an online degree sounds great. I've been thinking about doing that myself. Try not to let that jerk get to you. Some people haven't a clue how to treat people after 14 years. Okay I'll be quiet. Hugz.
Bless your heart.... Just think, it is now a new chapter in your life. Please do check and double check the folks that you get your online classes from because some of them are scam artist. Well I will be praying for you and I am sending love your way. Best of wishes, Catfishchic
Don't worry Stacey, karma is a really wonderful thing, this guy will get just what he deserves for treating you so badly. Sending love and good vibes your way! Air hug! xoxoxo
Oh that must really suck...14 yrs is a long time working at a job. Look at the bright side...your optimistic still and thats a good thing. I think online classes will be a good thing.
Oh Stacy I'm so sorry! I can't imagine! Are they that slow/hurting that they let you go now? And to do it like that is horrible! Don't blame you one bit for not wanting him to give you a ride home!
I'm so sorry to hear that bad news! I will keep u in my prayers! Ugghh I was on here checking youtube and seen your title and I had to watch it. Keep ur head up high hun and collect all the money u can from unemployment!!
So sorry to hear this Stacey! I can't believe after 14 years that's how your boss tells you? What a jerk! Try to look at this as a new beginning, a chance to do something you always wanted to do. All my positive vibes to you!
So sorry to hear this ..But you keep your head up..and remember everything happens for a reason..you may not know why now but it will get better..(((Hugs)))
so sad to hear that stacey its happening everywhere though no one is safe nowadays all we can do is work hard and hope for the best, but the economy just isent what is used to be :(
I am sorry to hear about you being let go at the newspaper. Newspapers are struggling - especially the small town newspapers - the newspaper in my town shut down a few years back. Your Boss should have handled it better. I hope that you were given the opportunity to get what is yours from your office. We all love you Stacey and it will work out. Hugs and prayers coming your way!
Losing your job is very stressful......and the feelings you have and had over this are all very normal. Your dad is right though...."don't worry about it"....and yes this may be a blessing in disguise! regardless....you are in my thoughts and prayers through this! hugs to you Stacey....big hugs!
IT MEANS IT`S TIME FOR A CHANGE.I NEW CHAPTER IN YOUR LIFE :). TO LEARN AND EXPERIENCE MORE IN LIFE. YOU WILL GET ANOTHER JOB...A BETTER ONE! HUGS,LOVE YA :) XO
Ah crap on a cracker, I feel for you Stacey. I guess it is the bad sign of the times and unfortunately newspapers are really struggling these days. I hope you find some classes you like that can give you a leg up to a better job. And you ex-boss is an ass. Not talking to you after 13yr of working there was very rude and unprofessional. He could have shown you more courtesy then that. Take care
sorry about you losing your job. it even happening at the place i work at some people are being let go others are getting their hrs cut and benefits taken away. for me i started out working 20hrs then gone up to 30hrs then 25hrs and now back to 20hrs. it sucks big time even if it not the best job it still a job. now a days people have to be happy with anything even if it isnt their dearm job.
I'm so sorry you lost your job, Stacey! Wow, and after 14 years? Did he give you a reason? Well, at least you can get unemployment while you decide what you will do.. Geez!
wow so sorry to hear about your situation. and how insensitive of the guy that broke the news to u! what a prick. the online degree thing is a good idea. perhaps for an at home medical transcripting job? well good luck. and I love ur kitty. I want to catnap her!
That's a crappy way to let someone go, he could've at least sat you down to talk about it. I'm sure other doors will open for you in the future, the study idea sounds good. What were you thinking about studying?
Indeed!! Screw the peon who never communicated properly!!! Like I said earlier, we got your back!! You will be fine!! Get bitter!! All part of the process. And school is an awesome idea!!! ;-) This is just the Universe making room in you rlife for better things! if you need ANYTHING at all.............Ya BETTER call me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love you!!!!!!
That sucks, Stacey. Sorry to hear it, and I do know how it feels. In 07, right after ST1, the golf course I'd worked at for 25 years pulled the plug, and I got about as much notice as you did, and i was Superintendent! Yeah, it switches pretty quickly to just bitterness.
I was in a position where I could coast a while, though, so I didn't even bother looking. I decided "screw it," and waited for SS to kick in.
I'm betting it'll work out to the better for you, and they'll fold. Screw 'em.
I'm so sorry to hear about your job situation :( that's just wrong that you boss would do that to you. I'm sure there is something bigger and better waiting for you. *hugs*
Dang! What the heck is wrong with your boss to just let you go like that? You.ve been there for 14 years and have been doing a good job. You have plenty of friends there and you will find something. Someone will hire you. You have freinds on youtube as well. Tax time will be coming up soon so you can take tax courses and work for H&R BLOCK. Something will come up. We've all been through it
What a jerk! he could of handled that a lot better. I'm so sorry, but like they say when one door closes another one opens. Good things are coming your way, I just know it.
Sorry to hear about the job. I went through something similar last year after 14 years, It hurts, you get a little depressed, you get angry then you move on. I worked for over 38 years at 4 different jobs with very little time off between jobs. This last time I decided I was going to take my time, especially with the current job market. I have been home-schooling my grandson and enjoying every minute.Financially I will need to return to work but I am enjoying the time off. Do things you enjoy!
So sorry Stacey :( That is a such a shame because it's hard to find someone who is dedicated to really doing a job and liking it. Know the feeling...shock,bitterness. Good you got the ball rolling for marvin.
Sorry to hear about your job. I too was a part time employee and was let go the same morning I went into work without any warning about a year ago. Stay strong and positive and you will figure out your next step:)
I lost my job suddenly last March and like you, was devastated. It's a grieving process; the different stages. Let yourself feel them. For me it turned out to be a God-send. I'm now working at a better job and I'm much happier. You're right, education is always good but what helped me was staying home and getting to know me again. It sounds silly but I feel so much better now. I think you're a strong, resilient woman and I wish you all the best!!
That really sucks after 14 years and with no reason why? What a cold hearted SOB...It`s hard to see it now but for every door that closes another door will surley open....
Truly you have the best...the most wonderful....YouTube friends...ever!!!! And we are surrounding you as you adapt to this change and embrace the blessings that are coming. It's sad that there are people in the world like this guy. What a lonely place he must exist in... He can't feel good about himself. Soo proud of you for who you are - and take it one step at a time. Love your ideas of what steps to take. Hugs!!!
Sorry to hear the news Stacey. :( I've never been laid off, but I went through my moms lay off w/her in 2008. Her boss was just as heartless...it had alot to do with her fracturing her hip the yr. before...was simply age discrimination.
Your dad is right....don't fret, there are wayyyyy better opportunities out there for you..I just know it!! *Hugs*
that is really bad after such a long time to leave you with no reasone or anytring. I am sorry to hear about it, but I heard that if you loose something something better comes along. hugz and I send you my best wishes and hope you will have a wonderful weekend though. xoxoxo
that totally sucks stacy and im truly sorry about that. he didnt give you a reason at all??? and well just remember karma is like a boomarang that never misses and he will get his. He had no right to just tell you like that thats just ignorant. anyway you will find something else because you are an amazing person.....take some time for you right now and like your dad said dont stress over it and enjoy your free time and SLEEP IN lol :)
Stacey, I am so sorry about your job. I have been where you are and vey much remember how it felt. I hate when people cant give you enough respect to at least give you some kind of notice. As you may remember, I too work for a newspaper. would not be surprised to hear any day we are closing down. I have been there for 13 years, but I dont have to tell you how the newspaper business was effected by the recession. You WILL be fine!
I'm sorry Stacy, I feel your bitterness as well. Same thing happened to me a year ago and some of the most wonderful experiences I've ever had happened as a result of it. I'm sure good things are ahead. Sending you and kitty happy vibes from Israel!
Oh honey, this stinks! I just know you'll turn it around and make some lemonade out of the lemons they handed you today. Just have a good healthy dinner tonight and rest... let your friends make you laugh and make Kitty give you some love!
Sorry bout your job. 14 years is a long dang time. I would be bitter too. I would be really pissed that I got up, showered and was DROPPED OFF (I would have wanted to run outta that place!!) That guy sounds like an ass. You will greive your job and find something you love more! Keep your chin up :)
I'm so sorry about you losing your job, Stacey. I'm glad you are thinking of taking some classes. I don't know how it is in Michigan but I know in New York the state will pay for your education while you are unemployed. So you should check into it.
My Walmart doesn't sell gas. The lowest price in my area that I've seen is $3.84! NY and it's taxes! UGH!
Sorry to hear this Stacey. Why do you think they let you go? Could it be you vlogging about them at times? Some companies are very weird about their privacy. Hope you find something better :)) hugs, Zoe
I am so sorry. :( I feel so bad and sending you hugs. Sometimes life throws us a curveball that is for sure. I hope it gets better and that this turns into an opportunity of sort for you. What a crappy way to be told too - in the hallway after 14 years of working there. That is so wrong - ughhh. So so sorry to hear this. :( I sent you the bracelet vid also - I hope I did it right and that you received it ok. Take care and talk soon.
I'm sorry :-( Especially after 14 years of working there. Keep your head up & I'll be keeping you in my thoughts... If you need anything I can do to help let me know :-)
Aww Stacey, I'm so sorry about your job. Your boss sounds like he could use a lesson in communication, the way he did things does not sound at all professional. I hope you find a course that really interests you when the time is right. I'm glad that you have your dad there for you and all your amazing friends. You are such a strong person, you will make it through this and be so much stronger on the other side! xox I will be thinking of you and hoping that you are doing ok!
stacey , i hate you lost your job but you know maybe they did you a favor , this may be a good thing so you can maybe take classes and get into something else, this may be god's way of telling you it's time for a change , i mean a good change..... life has it's funny way of guiding you. god is watching over you, don't worry stacey. i just think your ex boss could have done it a bit more professional. he sounds like a jerk anyway.....
Sorry to hear that you lost your job... No explanation was offered after working there for that long? Wow, something better is on it's way for you keep your head up
Sorry to hear about you losing your job. That sucks to be told like that. You will find something else and something better I'm sure. Taking classes would be great! My job is getting slow and I have a feeling that they will be laying off some, hopefully since I have 13 years at my job it wont be me. ((HUGS))
I am sorry you lost your job, BUT... your boss sounds like a jerk for having told you in the way he did. How heartless. He did not deserve a worker who is as sweet and thoughtful and smart and devoted as you. You will find a better, more grateful employer. I am certain of that. Keep your chin up and stay positive. It's OK to be sad about losing this job, but believe me... Things will be looking up for you in no time.
You know how I feel about this because we have talked. Everything is going to be okay no matter what. I know that doesnt make it any better at this point. Im there with you in spirit and heart girl and you know that you are right, its time to move on. I love you bunches and tons. Sounds like its time for a girls day soon enough. HUGS xo xo xo You know we are here for you no matter what. Love ya!
There's nothing wrong with feeling bitter. It seems really unprofessional to let you go in the hallway and not give you a reason. Sounds like they are just trying to get by with less people which would equal to less pay-roll. I know how you feel--most of us have been there at least once in our life. Time will help and hopefully what happens in life is something even better will come along and let you know that it was for an opportunity for you and not a loss. Take care.
Sorry about your job Stacey.... that really sucks. I think taking classes would be a great idea. My sister lost her job right before Christmas and that's what she did and got her degree, granted she had most of it done before she went back but it's nice to have that degree in hand.
Oh Stacey, I'm sorry about your job. I went through that over a year ago...I only worked part time from home nonetheless ...logged in to do my work one morning and they had locked me out of the phone system - changed the password. Classes can be a good thing though, very good idea!! I know you said you have trouble with your knees (if I remember correctly) you might be able to get SSI. Might be something to think about. Sending positive thoughts and prayers your way!!
Sorry to hear about your job loss, especially the way you were informed, but hey, you said some positive things, training etc. I'm doing a computer course at the moment, and it feels good. Some new employer will be lucky to have you.
Ugh.. I know all too well how you feel. I got let go from my job about 3 months ago. Completely out of no where like you. The bitter stage comes quickly and stays for a while too. Sigh. It sucks bad. Really sorry for your crappy day. :\
Aww Stacey I am so sorry you lost your job. My other half lost his job a few years ago and his was the only income. I did side work online and that lasted for about a year. Now he has a good job. I would also look very carefully in doing online courses. Make sure they are legit. {{{hugs}}}
Sorry about that but maybe something better is coming. Kitty was licking her booty as you use to say. But you can make more videos now for awhile. Our walmart doesn't have gas stations either.
I am so sorry Stacey bosses can be hard. My hubby got agreat job, moved from Mi to Oh. We were here 65 days and my hubby almost lost his life in a car crash where someone hit him. After spending 4 weeks in the hospital My hubby comes home and few days latter gets a letter says he has let go. Bosses have no heart.
I'm so sorry Stacey! We've been there and done that and You Girlfriend WILL survive. I think he let you go in a very cruel way. He could have been nicer about it. It will all work out... don't fret like your Dad said. Hugs and Smooches!
Losing your job is definitely one of those "wtf do I do now?!" kind of moments. I was laid off once upon a time and I remember how horrible it felt. I feel for you! Hopefully this will take you into a new and better position!
I am so sorry Stacey! Boy, after 14 years that guy is a hard hearted bastard letting you go in the hallway! I would be bitter too. Just get all the unemployment you can from they. I think you have come to a fork in the road for a better opportunity, but I do know how you feel. xo
I am so sorry that happened sweetie. It is unfortunate things like this happen. I remember being laid off from the best job ever and I know how your feeling. Hang in there sweetie!
Stacey, I'm so sorry you lost your job, especially since you been there so long, but think of this as a new adventure! Something wonderful must be in store for you!:)
I don't usually comment on your videos, I just enjoy them. I feel like I know your family. I'm so very sorry you lost your job. Here is a big ((((()))))) hug for you.
So sorry about your job loss. When I was told that I was laid off there was my boss and another manager in the conference room. That was cold hearted of him to tell you that in the hallway. Took about a month for my unemployment to come through. I am desperately trying to find another job so I can go back to school since my unemployment ran out wish you the best of luck.
"person skills" or not-that is inappropriate, and rude. especially when you have been there for so long!

Screw 'em.

Take care.
