man I miss INdie 103.1. It just got taken off the air out of nowhere and replaced with Mexican radio. It had the best dj's , best music. It w was an amazing station with Dave Navarro, Joe, Steve Jones, etc. Almost all the DJ's were rock stars and/or musicians themselves.

I just think you assume that if you don't understand something, or something is cryptic, that automaticly means it is profound and life altering. Listen, no one can make you like a movie, everyone has different preferences. personaly, i think Donnie Darko is brilliant, its a masterpeice. the most logical reason why you dont like the film is probly because you dont understand the significance behind it .

Ok, so I will give you a list of things it about(not in order of importance):

1 Its about how fake some people are, the sorts of facades they hide behind.

2 Its about how things are never as they seem.

3 Its about the way things aren't as simple as people make out.

4 Its about being a teenager.

6 Its about death.

7 Its about the butterfly effect.

But also its brilliant because of how well thought out it is, the way every little thing that happens has an importent place in the storyline.

Im really happy for you. ill admit, I only saw it once, a few years ago. I just never understanded what the big deal was. I don't think Richard Kelly is a genious. I don't think the movie is very good. I think the movie not being very good is a product of Richard Kelly just not being all that smart. We all get these profound Ideas that we think are going to change the world. If their weird enough, sometimes folks mistake them for genious. Richard Kelly was in way over his head.

these commenters below are crazy. Kelly totally took his audience for granted in ST...bad story, bad acting, bad dialogue. the characters had no real connection. try to watch the movie again without drugs...it CAN'T BE DONE!

Donnie Darko is great, but in my opinion, Southland Tales is his masterpiece. I don't think Kelly will ever be able to top it. ST is one of the five best films I've ever seen.
