yes Yami Yugi was very foolish in this duel.Even little yugi had more common sense.There was nothing at stake until he used that card.Although this episode proves that Raphael was a better duelist than the pharoah.
you may have a point, when Yugi turned bad, his strategy became crappy when he started sacrificing his monsters left and right for merely 500 points of damage.
Yami was being an idiot. But what would be the point in the duel if he hadn't played it. Rafael didn't. So the duel would have been just an extra non important bit in YGO. But also by Yami playing that card the writer of YGO has given us the idea that maybe yami could have been evil i mean at this point non of us really knew that he was that good. And you have to admit this leads up to a great sceen where Yami and Yugi duel. And explains the idea about Yami and Yugi being together for a reason.

Well, Yami i believe represents the dark side, so thats why the card boosts dark type monsters.
Now, Yami Yugi is Yugi's dark side, but is temepred by the childlike innocence of light/little Yugi (the keeper of the Millenium Key goes inside yugi's head in an earlier ep, check that for reference) so comes out neutral/on the side of the good.
Then the Seal of the Orichalcos takes that away and magnifies the darkness hidden inside, which is expelled when Yami yugi hooks up with Ironhand.
Im disappointed ,Yami always said he would believe in the heart of the cards and he didn't and played the seal of Oricalcos. Thats too bad I hope he gets what he deserves, but not the regular Yugi.
jseth03, you might want to listen to what they're talking about, and they have to talk or else the duel would be boring. Rafael is talking about how Yami used to be an evil pharaoh, and it showed when Yami played the Seal of Orichalcos. That's why your "hero" Yami Yugi lost this duel to Rafael. Plus, how do you know the duel will end in 9 turns, it might last longer based on how they play.

he wasn't actually without options yet. He just jumped the gun and activated it. And anyway what's the worst that could happen if he lost if the seal wasn't played? It's not like Rafael would pop a cap in him or something.
That was the Pharaoh's big mistake. He didn't realize that with the Seal not in play the duel wasn't life or death. Even if he lost he could survive even if Rafael beat him.

jseth03, you might want to listen to what they're talking about, and they have to talk or else the duel would be boring. Rafael is talking about how Yami used to be an evil pharaoh, and it showed when Yami played the Seal of Orichalcos. That's why your "hero" Yami Yugi lost this duel to Rafael. Plus, how do you know the duel will end in 9 turns, it might last longer based on how they play.

He can only use that ability while attacking. Otherwise, he would've done it last turn before Crystal Seal bound it.

That was the Pharaoh's big mistake. He didn't realize that with the Seal not in play the duel wasn't life or death. Even if he lost he could survive even if Rafael beat him.

actually i already see the stone of orichalcos around yugi's neck in the prievous episode.
yugi's damn nub,he could have thrown away the seal of orichalcos the the grave so that DMGTDN can destroy a monster.when yami play the seal of orichalcos,his next turn forces him to lose 600LP,dropping to 0,then he lose his soul.
