As I read all of the responses to this, and holy shit, some of you are taking this waayyy too seriously, I should say that having witnessed a few real fencing duels by masters, this fight is one of the only really realistic fights in the film. Despite what Hollywood would like us all to think, most sword fights are over very quickly, often in a matter of seconds. And when two masters get together, if they are close to evenly matched, one tiny miscalculation is all it takes.
Why do people even argue which series is better (Original Trilogy/Prequel Trilogy)? I mean, both sets of movies have been made, and its not like you can just go back in time and prevent them from being created. Like them or not, its over, accept it. So why don't you people just grow up and stop bickering like children over a sci-fi fantasy movie?

Those aren't three random guys. Two I don't know, but the guy on the right is Kit Fisto. And Mace was mirroring his moves, but not by using his "dark side" It's a lightsaber fighting style, utilizing strength and power over speed or precision. Those styles can be learned by any jedi.
some1 told me that Windu had both dark and light side with him, that the only reason he was a Jedi was because he can control him. That same person also said is why own Palpatine in this fight because he was using the dark side to Mirror his moves... im like no... then watching this fight over and over...he does...is this true...

Palpattine didnt have have him at 51, when he tried to stab him windu easily block it and probably overpowered him. And how would he know Skywalker would come here in the first place? Even if he would lose on purpus he just made it worse making himself look weaker than windu. And he used all his power on his force lightning. He didnt know Windu would deflect it. (using vaapad) And if he did it on purpus why would he get himself weaker/looking older/scared by his lightnin

Mace couldn't be fucked waiting for Obi-Wan and Yoda to come back, so he just gave three lightsabers to some homeless guys he found outside and told them he'd buy them some food if they beat up an old guy for him.

Sidious used his teqnique dark rage. Dark rage is a dark side ability were the user can release his strongest fears,hate and anger making him a lot stronger and alot faster! So u see thats how he killed the so quickly.

For people who don't know, when Sidious leaped through the air like a fuckin parkour championship cup holder, he Force Screamed, it's used to interrupt the connection between a person and the force, in this case it worked on 2 of the 4 jedi present, he immediately killed the two who weren't powerful enough to resist it
Kit Fisto and Mace resisted it, but unfortunately in the cluster fuck that the fight was, Kit was killed with his saber in the air leaving only Mace
Mace is a dumbass, instead of holding a meeting with the Senate and authorize a arrest and investigation, he decides to take 4 guys to take on the worst Sith Lord.
George Lucas said that the wisest Jedi is Yoda and the most powerful is Mace Windu. From my point of view that sucks!, Yoda should be the most powerful after Palpatine.

Wouldve been so much cooler if palpatine said "it's treason" and the moment he got up he used lightning and killed the first guy, threw the 2nd guy out the window, lunged and stab kit fisto the moment he lands, and then fought windu (this time windu is on the offensive)
some people don't like the choreography in this scene. i disagree. i think that it's a good contrast from the obi-wan vs anakin duel (don't get me wrong, that battle is matched by none). it flows quite well... kind of like two old vets who are experienced enough to know they don't have to go all out to fight properly.

@5thgroupwannabe I know....(groan)... I just watched the death of Darth Maul....shameful stuff, and in an otherwise great fight scene. I'm just amazed that nobody picked up on such glaringly terrible moments when they shot these two scenes...guess the film crew were under serious pressure.

Multi battles are so fucking useless. Actually every prequel-movie has established that (Dooku vs Obi/Ana, Dooku vs Obi/Ana 2, Maul vs Qui Gonn/Obi). How about just send Windu into the 1on1 while the other Jedi Masters support him with force techniques and cover his back?? Instead of actually fighting in the front line and getting raped by a Sith Lord who is obviously much more powerful

I like the battle between Windu and Palpatine but obviously, the deaths of the other three Jedi are far too quick and far too easy.
Also, I preferred the idea that the Emperor was disfigured b/c the dark side was eating him from the inside. That's a far more disturbing, effective concept than a battle injury.
One of the worst fight scene in cinema history. Hire some Kung Fu guys from HK to choreograph the fight sequence, and get some stunt men doubles in there to do this scene justice. The other 3 Jedi masters look more uncoordinated than Jar Jar Binks, that was just weak. And Darth Maul looks 100X better than Darth Sidious, who's supposed to be the master, go figure.
the 3 jedi got trained and get killed easily.... i understand that they are fighting sidious but they should have let them fight a little longer and better so they can die in epic ways!
@comixgod50 Lucas needed a way to kill off the Jedi or episodes 4,5,and 6 would not have made sense. Sidious was actually able to do that, He was doing that to EVERY Jedi since episode 2. Sidious was doing this to all the Jedi across the galaxy when order 66 was given to the clones, That is why all the other Jedi were killed by clones with blasters. Sidious was powerful enough to defeat Yoda so the other Jedi were not much of a threat even if they were masters, they were not at the same level.

@debunker1905 It is true that Yoda is a very powerful Jedi,but if you watch his fight with Sidious you'll see that Sidious was victorious.Yoda lost his light saber,fell to the floor of the arena and ran.I know the movie made it look like Mace Windu was about to defeat Sidious.But that happened because Sidious was able to sense that Anakin was on his way,so he let the fight drag on and decided to use it to turn Anakin by making the Jedi look like the bad guy.Otherwise he would have killed Windu.

The reason why the three Jedi died so quickly is because of the fighting style Palpatine uses is new to them. Though, I agree that Lucas did a shit job with this scene.

I don't think people understand how powerful Darth Sideous was. He's largely considered the most powerful Sith lord of all time.

But little did he know, that 'Force" itself was even more deceptive, and used Anakin to help bring about a rebirth of a new Jedi order. It was the Force itself that brought Anakin to the dark side, for the specific purpose of devieving the emperor.
I agree. Remember, none of these Jedi (even Mace) knew for sure who Palpatine really was when they came to arrest him. The whole group was obviously stunned when he drew his saber. Except for Mace, the rest of them were probably like "oh crap...is this really happening?" And by the time they would have recovered, it was way too late. I would say being in that room when all that went down would be much like being in the open ocean with a great white shark swimming around. :)

@Kira121086 To answer your question about Palpatine's voice changing, I think it changes because in that statement "I AM the senate!" he's speaking as his true self, Sidious, which he no longer has to hide. If you pay attention he does this at other times in the movie, when he tells Anakin to kill Dooku, and when he talks about the dark side to Anakin he tends to speak as Sidious, rather than Palpatine. It's part of his dual personality/identity which he switches between in key moments.
This fight looks very unimpressive. Pretty bad action acting...maybe could've used a few more body double scenes. They looked like retards circle jerking each other lmao.

some people don't like the choreography in this scene. i disagree. i think that it's a good contrast from the obi-wan vs anakin duel (don't get me wrong, that battle is matched by none). it flows quite well... kind of like two old vets who are experienced enough to know they don't have to go all out to fight properly.

Multi battles are so fucking useless. Actually every prequel-movie has established that (Dooku vs Obi/Ana, Dooku vs Obi/Ana 2, Maul vs Qui Gonn/Obi). How about just send Windu into the 1on1 while the other Jedi Masters support him with force techniques and cover his back?? Instead of actually fighting in the front line and getting raped by a Sith Lord who is obviously much more powerful

I like the battle between Windu and Palpatine but obviously, the deaths of the other three Jedi are far too quick and far too easy.
Also, I preferred the idea that the Emperor was disfigured b/c the dark side was eating him from the inside. That's a far more disturbing, effective concept than a battle injury.

One of the worst fight scene in cinema history. Hire some Kung Fu guys from HK to choreograph the fight sequence, and get some stunt men doubles in there to do this scene justice. The other 3 Jedi masters look more uncoordinated than Jar Jar Binks, that was just weak. And Darth Maul looks 100X better than Darth Sidious, who's supposed to be the master, go figure.

@comixgod50 Lucas needed a way to kill off the Jedi or episodes 4,5,and 6 would not have made sense. Sidious was actually able to do that, He was doing that to EVERY Jedi since episode 2. Sidious was doing this to all the Jedi across the galaxy when order 66 was given to the clones, That is why all the other Jedi were killed by clones with blasters. Sidious was powerful enough to defeat Yoda so the other Jedi were not much of a threat even if they were masters, they were not at the same level.

@debunker1905 It is true that Yoda is a very powerful Jedi,but if you watch his fight with Sidious you'll see that Sidious was victorious.Yoda lost his light saber,fell to the floor of the arena and ran.I know the movie made it look like Mace Windu was about to defeat Sidious.But that happened because Sidious was able to sense that Anakin was on his way,so he let the fight drag on and decided to use it to turn Anakin by making the Jedi look like the bad guy.Otherwise he would have killed Windu.

One of the reasons why Sidious was able to kill the three Jedi masters that easily was because he was using the dark side to cloud their minds, in addition to the fact that he was the most powerful Sith Lord in the galaxy for many years.

I don't think people understand how powerful Darth Sideous was. He's largely considered the most powerful Sith lord of all time.

But little did he know, that 'Force" itself was even more deceptive, and used Anakin to help bring about a rebirth of a new Jedi order. It was the Force itself that brought Anakin to the dark side, for the specific purpose of devieving the emperor.

I agree. Remember, none of these Jedi (even Mace) knew for sure who Palpatine really was when they came to arrest him. The whole group was obviously stunned when he drew his saber. Except for Mace, the rest of them were probably like "oh crap...is this really happening?" And by the time they would have recovered, it was way too late. I would say being in that room when all that went down would be much like being in the open ocean with a great white shark swimming around. :)

@Kira121086 To answer your question about Palpatine's voice changing, I think it changes because in that statement "I AM the senate!" he's speaking as his true self, Sidious, which he no longer has to hide. If you pay attention he does this at other times in the movie, when he tells Anakin to kill Dooku, and when he talks about the dark side to Anakin he tends to speak as Sidious, rather than Palpatine. It's part of his dual personality/identity which he switches between in key moments.

Dont get me wrong,loved the film and the Obi-wan and Skywalker fight was epic too as like Yoda and Sidious,but the four Jedi masters V Sidious was bad ,the dialog was exellent and then the fight was not up to standard,two masters just stood there to be killed and the fighting was slow .
This should have been the best fight as the films lead up to this point,but was not to be.
