In 2009 , I was part of an English group invited to receive tuition from some of Okinawas greatest living karate masters. Members of the Okinawan Rengoki. It was the first scheme of its kind and highly successful. I think the opportunity is available to any karate group that is willing to go to Okinawa and train. Personally, it was an incredible experience. Everyone was made most welcome regardless of ability or age or rank by these extremely high ranking legends, including Sensei Higaonna.
Interestingly there are several similar vids floating around YouTube with this same group training with different Okinawan Masters. I've concluded that these UK (?) karateka are on an Okinawan karate tour and experiencing tuition from a wide variety of karate systems. If that's true i say 'hats off' to a wonderful idea.
Can me someone, please, explain the purpose (in fight or somewhere else) of exercise (or technik) between 0:40 and 1:00? Thank you very much for an answer.
@morskipas008, Greetings! This exercise is called "the Flexible Horse" - as part of Hodjo Undo - a complex of exercises for development of physical qualities of a body and correct statement of a body. Do this exercise quickly time 200-300 and then you will understand that it develops. Sorry for my English.
I'm so proud of my Traditional Goju Ryu Karate Do training. And take notice, Sensei Higaonna is such a nice and cheerful man, but so dangerous in combat.
What an amazing martial artis Mr. Higaona. I have never seen kata performed by anyone as he has performed it, it was on his original Japanese video. Great style and great martial artist, a very scary man to face.
@ukimi3 You can go to the IOGKF web page iogkf(dot)com/ and look under member countries. There is a representative in France. Or check out karatedogojuryu (dot) fr

@suPaB20 - That's a bit harsh mate. I don't know Higaonna Sensei but I'm confident he was pleased to pass-on knowledge and information.
