it was incredible boring, really, i understand that the real story is very important and bla bla bla, but as a movie is just boring, and has no real inspiration o motivation, the rugby team doesnt do anything to deserve been champion or nothing.

different taste doesn't mean the lack of it my friend. it might be considered good by some critics, i just found it extremuily boring. i can´t believe i say this, but even christian's movies such as facing the giants are way much more interesting and inspire, or motivate or bla bla bla :-D just a thought.

I can only think of a very few "sports" films I like.

This is definitely one of them.

It wasn't about the sport near as much as overcoming adversity in an extreme atmosphere.

The rugby was unknown to me except for Andy Capp.

But these two men did something that was incredible. Very moving film, great acting, brought tears to my eyes and jumping for joy at the end. (hated the fake assassin atop the arena, but nobody is perfect)

Absolutely a Wonderful film! And...a Great Poem, too.

I don't know if Anyone noticed but the rugby in this movie was CRAP. They cant even honour the world cup with proper Rugby.

i will forever personally take offence to anyone trashtalking Mandela, he is old, he is frail now but he still has his kick about him. one day soon he will die. that day, the world looses one of the greatest men to have walked the earth. Be proud hes of the human race Be proud he can come out of 27 years in jail ready to forgive everyone that put him there. Be proud you are of his era.

thought this was a great movie, who better to play the legend that is nelson mandela, than the legend that is morgan freeman! one little editing thing i did notice though, during the nat anthems of the final game, the SA players are all lined up in thier kits, i guess abwt a minute through the montage the camera picks up on the same team, same background but they are all wearing thier tracksuits, i know its really picky but its a multi milloin dollar flick, how does something like that slip?????

really enjoyed this movie, great to see how the game of rugby aided in uniting a country, hope one day they make a movie about the all blacks though, when the springbok and even the wallabies first came to rugby they were to say the least useless!! The all blacks were the best due to a longer history with game then either country - and while we haven't won the world cup in over 20yrs we are still among the greatest, maybe matt damon as ritchie mc caw?!!

I heard the All Blacks were given tainted food before the game, I gues that takes the shine out of this movie.

As for murderer - I don't know, I have no evidence either way. "Freedom Fighter" would be a more accurate description of his youth under a terrible regime.

... But his actions after being released from prison weren't the actions of a murderer - he could easily have gone down the Robert Mugabe route.

Instead, he united a country - leading by example. A great man.

I saw this yesterday. Most uplifting ending EVER. I was so tempted in the final to stand up in the middle of the movie theatre and shout 'GO ON FRANCOISE/CHESTER/JOEL (etc)!! DO IT FOR THE COUNTRY!!!'- I was that pumped up with excitement by the epicness of it all.

funny how in the movie they boast about how their 43 million people were united in support of the boks and how it sooo impossible to beat the all blacks and how great it was to do so, yet their is no mention of how New Zealands population struggled to get over 4 million. I think New Zealands side of the story would be much more impossible

Its for discussion and interaction, that is why they have 'reply' feature and thumbs up/down. BTW I don't think the movie is about population size in proportion to sporting achievement. The main essence of the story is the incredible transition or attempted transition from a country divided by race, apartheid and lynching into a country uniting behind the universal language of sport.

I bet the film doesnt cover/show how Sth African bookmakers payed staff at the hotel the New Zealand team ( All Blacks) were staying in to give them tainted food before the World Cup final. Half the All Black team mysteriously came down with food poisining the night before the game.

It is a deadset 100% fact. So of course it wasnt going to be included in the film would have taken a hell of alot of the shine of the Springboks win if it were known why/how they won wouldnt it ? The same 2 teams played less than 6 months later and the Springboks got pumped and pumped hard. Better yet watch a replay of that WC final. All BLacks cramping up in the guts and puking everywhere.

in real life the new zealand side were food poisoned. im not surprised they didn't add that in the movie script though. it wouldn't have made a good movie if the underdogs simply won through foul play.
