  • @RickBangkok ME TOO!! I found Ajahn Brahm yesterday. I have been going through tremenedous internal changes. The heart pain I have been feeling the past month or so was tearing me up. I turned to Buddhism and Yoga the past 2 wks. I found Ajahn Brahms talks yesterday. His teaching helped me to alleviate my heart pain.

  • "F is for friends.....who do stuff together"...(song lyrics)

Well most of the younger generation will relate to this song, it is a song, on tv cartoon Sponge Bob, about converting someone who is mean to someone who is good through friendship.....and consequently your title "F is for Forgiveness" will definitely bring this to the minds of most youth in a good and happy way. :) It is the F.U.N. song on youtube

  • Your talks are the beacon of my life. I have always gained some useful insights from your talk. These serve as important reminders as I journey in this life. Life is hard enough. Your talks act like lubrication which serve to reduce the pain when life roughs me up.

  • Ajahn Brahms remarks about forgiveness and healing being at the heart of the legal system in Norway really hit home with me after the attacks in Oslo. It is enlightening to watch the differences in how Norway is dealing with this tradgty as opposed to the US after Sept. 11th.

  • There's a lot of negativity in my life right now, and sometimes it feels like I'll be overwhelmed by it. Knowing there are people like Ajahn Brahm in the world helps me manage. Even better, applying these wise teachings to my thoughts and mind helps me overcome. These talks are an absolute blessing. Thank you.

  • i love you !

  • ... MEANING it's about a 50/50 chance that something bad will work out for the better and on the chance that it doesn't you are trash but if it worked out you have no regrets and you try to tell everyone else to do what you did and if they don't listen they are trash and they just don't get it

  • the only problem I have with the end; it's easy to say now right? if you weren't, it wouldn't be, and you wouldn't be heard, and it wouldn't matter. It's like people who say if you never hit bottom, you wouldn't be rich, but you can hit bottom, and nobody hears from you, and so it doesn't negate that theory.....

  • I always take revenge, but I know what you mean, and this is why I listen to you anyway.

  • First of all, I love most of these talks. But forsaking revenge is just impractical, no matter how noble. Most of the time, revenge has even benefited peoples' ability to prosper. In the middle ages when there are no police to speak of, some man rapes your daughter, you kill them and they won't do it again, or do it to any other local girl.

Revenge is distasteful, but a lot of life is. It's also niave to say it has no place.

  • @HelloMellowed I respect your opinion. There's one thing I would like to say though and that is that in life, from what I've seen, people are looking for happiness. It helps me to reflect while I'm doing something and after I've done something in the short and long term whether or not that action has made me happier and less stressed or whether it has caused more suffering. I prefer to look at revenge from that point of view. I find in the end it calms me down.

  • Sorry dear, I was starting and listening your Speech: I do understand what do you and other Monks think about killing Criminals, but hey, what do you have to say about their Victims? And did you ever try to "convert" an "Osama" to Buddhism? Last time I saw something meaningful about Araboislamic people related to Buddhism, it was about Bayman and Afghanistan altogether. I ask you again: who protects Victims? Though Alice Miller taught: Criminals are traumatized people, too ("Osamas" included).

  • beautiful talk eloquently put! thanks this has really put a lot into perspective for me

  • Great talk! I learnt a thing or two from this video.:) Too bad the end was cut off a lil' bit. :(

  • Thanks so much for the replies to my post. I am in a very bad place. I did register for the website also. I keep listening. My hope is very low, but when I listen I do get something that keeps me going. Thanks so much to those who sent me a reply.

  • I love the way Ajahn Brahm tells stories as if it were the first time he's told it. And although I've heard many, I still get a new perspective on them. Much appreciation for uploading these wonderful talks.

  • Best wishes for a wonderful Wasak from Canada to all!

  • Satu ka

  • Alltid lika inspirerande att lyssna på Ajahn Brahm :)

  • Wonderful , as usual.

  • I am in a very bad place in my life now. Can this help me?

  • @rickbangkok

Only you can help you but these teachers can show us how and inspire us...

  • @rickbangkok Namo Buddhaya,

If you have enough to eat, clothes to wear, ok place to live ( protect from hot n cold) and medicine, Then all other problems are may be the little worlds arised with in your mind.If thats the case dont worry, the entire human world is with you.(except arhats). You may listen some Ajahn Brahm's mp3s downloaded (specially : peace is the highest happiness and Winners and losers) . Thanissaro Bhikkhu's dhammatalks are priceless too.

  • @rickbangkok Yes, listen to his talks. I was in a very bad place when I found Ajahn Brahm also. One night things were so bad that I couldn't sleep, eat, read or do anything, my mind was all over the place and I just wanted to stop thinking and sleep, but I couldn't. So I went online at 5am and googled 'peace of mind'. Ajahn Brahm had a talk of peace of mind and I thought, no way I'm listening for a whole hour, but I'll try it out. I ended up listening to 2 talks, actually smiling at the end..

  • @beaterfred wow, your story is wonderful. Dhamma protects the one who practices it. Also please listen to some talks by Thanissaro Bhikkhu... Ajahn Braham's examples stories can be applied to life practically if you are mindful.. These talks are priceless.

  • @beaterfred

hope you got peace of mind my friend!!!!

    namo buddha!!!!!

  • ... of it and went to sleep peacefully. It wasn't a sudden, miracle cure but listening to him and trying to understand his teachings and incorporate them in to my own life has helped me heal much quicker, so I'd have been crazy by now. It depend what the nature of your problem is, or how bad it is, but yes, from my experience, these talks do help! Listen to them regualrly and try to incorporate the teaching in to your life. I hope you get out of your bad place soon! :)

  • what is that Buddhist "makes a huge distinction between justice and revenge" so what is justice???

  • @lyntonio i think justice is a legal term and revenge is really nothing but vengeance or "getting even"., but the only people we need to "get even" with are those who have helped you in some way

  • @BeingNobody1956 I like that, a form of the golden rule

  • Beautiful take.Thank you.

  • Thanks for another inspiring talk.

  • Peace peace peace :) Always good talks, thanks
