  • Saw this last year on Channel 13. I was glued to the TV. Fascinating.

  • Great film. It's now available on Netflix instant!

  • I thought it was called 'village of the dolls' ? such expression in the dolls faces - even in the eyes - hes a true artist. (for someone to destroy somebody elses life they should get LIFE in prison - they deserve to pay) he even whispers sorry when he has to remove the dolls head - poignant stuff indeed

  • poor bloke!

  • Saw it last night--really amazing, touching, inspiring, thought provoking. And more!

  • This was great. I saw it on Netflix and it was very touching. Very inspiring.

  • so they think a museum exhibit might destroy Marwencol but an indie documentary about it is totally cool gotcha

  • @Riverdante the movie gives you the majority of the picture, something the museum exhibit could never do. the documentary made me appreciate marwencol a lot while i can understand that an exhibition showing just pictures would make people look at these images in a completely different and objective way. More as "the art of photography". which is not what marwencol is about, therefor destroying the idea behind it.

  • Strange how I can't seem to find ONE MENTION of the attackers anywhere on the net. Odd, huh? Anyone care to bet they weren't "Nazis"?

  • @catothewiser

It'll make more sense if you watch it

  • Well, it's on my Netflix queue now.

  • Just saw most of it the other day on PBS. Plan to buy it asap. Different. Incredible.

  • Wow this is a must see wish my barbie experience was as good as this I'm 34 and still collect my holiday barbies every year since the series started got the whole collection... Just wish I could take them out the box.....

  • @wildcaligal my dear you CAN take them out of the box...but i believe you don't cause you fear they will lose their "collectability" and hence their "value"...what about the true value that only the experience of joy can bring? take one of your favorite barbies out of itz box and invite a neighborz daughter or a niece over and play! thats the true value of those dolls. to bring joy to a child...and to you.unless achieving the ultimate mark-up iz more important to you and gives more satisfaction

  • Inspiring, more than many many other things in this world....we should all be delving into Self with such trust of intuition, playfulness, and outright curiosity about what is undoubtedly waiting for us down the rabbit hole

  • Watched it on "Independent Lens" a while ago. Incredibly relatable and touching feelings of when I was a kid playing with my action figures, creating my own private little daily adventures.

  • i believe he has been suffering from mental trauma and still he is; he wishes to pay back by creating those scenarios.

  • Excellent film....very touching!

  • Excellent movie....very touching!

  • An absolutely fascinating program. I only caught the last 45 minutes of the program last night, but I intend to find out when it airs again so I can watch it in its interity.

  • Keep on collecting! Also my favorite thing to do

  • I saw this on PBS tonight it was great.I know that art can heal.I'm not so sure that living in an imaginary world will help the man to be whole again.Do you?It does tell a true real story very well.

  • I feel like this is intensely private and don't feel at all comfortable intruding on this guy's private world.

  • So much is fascinating about this movie. I love that his alcoholism disappeared after the brain injuries, but his fascination with shoes did not. That is very telling.

  • I can watch this over and over and I still get chills. Oh man, I am going to watch it again on thisisawesomemovie. c00m

  • it's worth a watch, for sure!! Now online at [ thisisawesomemovieGGcom ](replace GG with a dot)

  • I didn't see it in 2010. Guess it wasn't really a "must-see."

  • Thefinalimagechannel - The director was shooting for two years before This American Life came along. If you don't believe me, see the film - there's an art show in it that takes place in 2006 - two years before the TAL episode.

  • This is a great story, but Ira Glass already made a documentary about this guy on This American Life on Showtime....and it was amazing. This director is kind of getting lucky off of someone else's finding.

  • Incredible documentary. Touching and inspiring. We'll be screening the movie in February 2011 in Quebec city, Quebec. See our website for event's details.

  • I saw this film today in Philadelphia and was immediately fully immersed into the story.

This was an incredibly touching and sensitive portrayal of one man coping with the after effects of a horrific and brutal attack ... Mark has created a safe haven for himself and I feel honored to have been invited into his world.
