  • I am a teacher and I've chosen this video for my classes, for a physical description my students have done very well I am very proud to have such a free spirit and all these clever students to have and that I have such a good job David is my music teacher my mentor my god of music Long live David Bowie
  • this is the best live version of it...

    its soooo damm good...omfg

  • Poor man looks like he's sweating to death up there great version but I wonder why he didn't go as high as in the original?

  • Saw him on this (Serious Moonlight) tour three times and then saw him on the Sound & Vision tour twice. He had Adrian Belew on that tour and he just nailed the solo on this with a vengance. What a concert, still got the T-shirts!! and the ticket stubs

  • Few men are greater than Bowie. It has to be said.

  • @sinaquanonable it is a bore, why else would I be watching 40 year old performances?

  • october 1950... and so many didn't get it; but their children did...

  • Who wrote the piano on this song?

  • the guitarist is soo cool !

  • How I love Bowie... This song is pure magic. Even Billie Joe ( Green Day frontman ) wants it played at his funeral. Bowie found the way to âge with elegance, humility and dignity. That's why he's such a legend. He's not fucking dead and will never be. Bowie is immortal.

  • I Wish i was born in the 50's :( i'm a 98 baby

  • i was born to late too ...in 1976 :-)

  • crying again... it´s a great song!

    Love you ... my Bowie!

  • It's a masterpiece.

  • QUE BESTIALIDAD DE CANCION, HERMOSO BEAUTIFUL

  • 13 steeps and a 1/2 ...the end of a masterpiece . David, Carlos, I cannot thank you enough!

  • how is this so good

  • They will be playing this in a thousand years time, having gone number one for 999 times :)

  • @KiriAeroTyler he didn't want to be confused with David Jones of the Monkees so he changed it to Bowie with open relevance to American Frontiersman Jim Bowie and the Bowie knife whose namesake follows...

  • fantastic!!!

  • @KiriAeroTyler

His name is David Jones, he changed it to Bowie later on.

  • so good thank you david jones

  • I love this song. It makes me cry.

  • Where can we find an artist like that these days ? I know the answer, but I don't like it...

  • @GraachAhim please tell me !!

  • @clayredsky The answer is: NOWHERE.

  • One of the few concerts I seriously regret missing. From the "Serious Moonlight" tour...

  • Carlos Fucking Alomar. Yassassin.

  • The best version. Thanks for posting.

  • if you don´t feel nothing at all hearing this song, be sure you are anything but human.

  • I love HIM

  • beautyfull

  • best poet

  • amazing singing love the 80s cloths.lol

  • Brilliant audio, thanks.

  • Brilliant song and brilliant sound quality in this video. Thanks for sharing this.

  • What a beautiful performance.

  • 2:10 bass <3

  • fantastic performer......possibly the best song ever written....Bowie is the best songwriter ever

  • excellent video....and audio...Thank you for posting....Brings back awesome memories of that and many other shows I saw of Mr. Bowie going back to 1975...nothing can compare......Thank you David !!!

  • The master, The voice and The Song.

  • Epic version, I wish he was singing the higher bit but the backing singer does a great job!

  • i has a different tune to it then then music video version... i don't really know if i like it..

  • pure klasse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Carlos Alomar on guitar from Ponce, Puerto Rico

  • Yes! Indeed!

  • i love the guitarist, :P

  • Why ain't he taking the high note like on the record, in the live versions?

  • Oh my God.........

  • i just wanna cry....................

  • best ever

  • NUMBER ONE.....

  • I saw this tour in Cleveland (one night after Rush and one night before Peter Gabriel: my best weekend EVER!). The Bowie show was great; but not comparable to the show in 1973 in Detroit, the Spiders From Mars tour. But Bowie live, there are few acts better in concert.

  • @jflinn210 Hey J`210 You were spoilt with Rush and the mighty PG. Saw the SMT outside London, loved it. Never saw Spiders from mars tour, must`ve been awsome. Lucky you. I agree there are few, if any, better. I think my best is Prince lovesexy 87 , was just amazing, and Paul Mac this year.

  • <3 Wonderful!!! <3 <3

  • This was his "Great White Duke" faze

  • You're about 8 years out I'm afraid :-)

    This is 1983 / 4.

  • Actually it was "Thin White Duke" and that was in 1976. This is from 1983.

  • oh this version live is so touching.bowie knows how to touch people from inside

  • unico !

  • hyvää kamaa

  • I was there. It was 1983 for The Serious Moonlight Tour (Let's Dance Tour). I went to see him in Frejus near Cannes in May. Still have the parafernalia, even the official T-Shirt.. I was a 16 yo kid in a Bus from Barcelona to Frejus with a bunch of glam glitter nuts. It was absolutely crazy, man !!!

  • I honestly have one thing to say look at his outfit lol

  • Der Beste der Besten schade dass ich ihn nie life sehen werde.

  • This is a legend!!!

  • this is in the concert in vancouver, 1983.

  • Very beautiful music!!!

  • I'm crying everytime I hear it

    I wish I was born in 60's

I would listen to it live , not on youtube

    God why, why, why?

  • I feel ya. I didnt like this (serious moonlight)faze so much back then but this live version of L.O.M. is fantastic. ..I think they recently found some evidence of small micro-organisms living on mars, but Bowie was there long before.

  • David Bowie is still alive. Maybe he will be on tour someday again... thats your chance ;)

  • it was the 70te and it was bril

  • @szafi18 1950.

    best year to be born.

    living childhood in 50's

    teenage years in 60's

    20's in the 70's

    30's in the 80's

    40's in the 90's

  • @gubgub1234 And we who were born in the 70's will now try to clean up the mess.

  • @gubgub1234 YESSSSSS

  • @gubgub1234 you are so right...

  • @szafi18 I agree!!!

  • @szafi18 Just think... If you were born and died before David Bowie, you couldn't have listened to him at all. Excuse for my english, I'm italian. :)

  • this has gotta be the best live version on youtube ... cuz the piano is the same as the original if not better ... the strings are replaced with guitar which is what i woulda done if i was covering this song, and the solo sounds great :) but the singing does kinda remind me of G4 covering this, but the insturments in the back make G4 look bollocks lol

  • shite!!! the guitar spoils it the original is by far the best, it sounds to 80's with the banjo going best left alone.

cant blame Bowie it was the 80's and everyone was doing it.

  • whys his hair always change dam

  • This video reminds me of how plastik and obvious the 80s seemed at the time. In retrospect, it was such a unique and rare experience, even though in the moment there was an apparent, interminable, phonyness that seemed to permeate anything and everything.

I guess nothing lasts forever. But Bowie will always rock.

  • All hail David Bowie! Incredible. Only once in a lifetime we get to see artist like He is. God speed to you, David!

  • This is a powerhouse of a version of this song. I really truly enjoy listening to the ways he has used his voice over the years, and I love it when I get to hear several versions of the same song ^_^ Thanks for posting this! Long Live David Bowie!

  • We were there in beautiful Toronto,Canada both Sat. nite show and the Sunday eve show...what a weekend in August/1983 in by beloved Toronto...David and Iman's fave city...Long live T.O....you've come a long way baby...

Be well all of my U-tube freinds I have made...bless you all for your kind words...maybe we will meet again...tears

illness can strike anyone of us...at anytime...do niot waste your time here on this plane of your existence.

    All at once

    Jeff

  • Great song! Thanks for posting!

  • Does Bowie never use the "she could spit in the eyes of fools" line live?

  • Let me try that again. I saw this concert live in LA! It was Awesome! The best concert I've ever seen. Unforgetable!

  • I saw this comment live in LA. Awesome! Just Awesome!

  • wow this is the best version out there!!!!!!!

  • wow this is the best live version of this song iv heard. the crunching guitar in the prechorus was awesome. and i never knew how good the bassline was til hearing this.

  • Have to agree with you... I like this updated version of the song, preferred his vocals in the higher key though.

  • What the hell does whingeing mean?

And I never said Bowie isn't good or anything. I really like his music.

  • Never mind my last post.

  • what a singer, what a composer, what a performer. pure style and talent. david bowie is the finest artist in rock and pop music ever.

  • sublime!

  • he makes me cry...just beautyfull...

  • Is this a freeky dream, Brett?

  • Its Ok, but just doesnt have the same feel and emotion the studio version has for me. Might be the real strings that make that. Not sure.

  • Pre-MC Hammer pants

  • So thats where Martin Gore got his haircut...

  • yer heaps of people are inspired by david's questionable fashion. like those awful trench coats everyones wearing.... excellent music thought and the clothes looked cool on him, even if they just look dumb on everyone else :P

  • Hm...I listen to Depeche Mode a lot but have never noticed the similarity between their haircuts

  • carlos alomar at 1:48

  • Exactly! Brilliant.

  • his pants are insane.

  • David, your voice is liquid Gold, thankyou for all

    the Joy you bring!!

  • where's high notes it makes the song ? dissapointing bowie ! well its still good!

  • I agree.

The Serious Moonlight tour was extensive and gruelling.

He can't hit the highs on this ocassion.

  • Can't stop watching it!

  • é simplesmente sen-sa-cio-nal!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I'm the same age now as he was here...how come I'm not in shape like him?

  • This is the very performance of this song that got me into bowie when i saw it on tv one day... superb!

  • this is one of the best perfomance of bowie

  • probably the best performance of this song

  • damn!

    he's hot

  • I reckon David Bowie is by far the coolest musician to

    have ever walked the planet.

  • did he forget the line when he was singing at the beginning. he sounded as if he got the wrong lines so he muttered the next line. right before the first chorus.... Still love him to pieces though.

  • check out the version of it on 2005 fashion rocks with just him and piano. he hits all the high notes so be satisfied!

  • Carlos was Bowie's sound for many years, great rythm guitarist !!

  • He had Warren Peace (yes that is his back-up singer) on this tour singing in the background. Bowie sounds great. Name a band that sounds this good today---tell me a name that sings this well. Motown loves Bowie!!!

  • Thanx for telling me that master316-..The 80's ruled!

  • What a talented singer..Hes how old now?..Damn..cool song..DAVID BOWIE!!! RULEZ!!

  • I believe he turns 60 in 2007.

  • issnt he already 60?

    oh pshh duhh its 2007.

    :/

    never mind

    :]

  • I'm dissapointed, he didn't sing the high parts in the chorus. For me it's the high vocals in the chorus that complete the song. I've checked other versions too, he never does it! Bowie can't hack it :(

  • i totally agree with you... the high part is the most powerful part in the song.

    o well

    david bowie still rocks

  • a lot of singers do that though... singing those belted notes every night in concert will rip his throat to pieces.

    (*hint hint* Chris Cornell)

  • no way he changed like 2 words but then again i have seen worse and he was well known for that

  • WOW! i think this is the greatest performance of this song that i've seen. Did anyone knows when and where was this one?...and what about de guitar player, he's from pakistan or it's just the looks? (is excellent)

  • It really is a GREAT performance. This is from 1983. It was at the Pacific National Exhibition Colliseum in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The gutair player's name is Carlo Salamar. I'm not sure where he's from.

  • @mastert316 Carlos Alomar, nacido en puerto Rico.

  • what an awsome song by a freakin' awsome performer ! DAVID RULEZ !!!
